  1. I had always wondered if a UFL team could work in Akron. But since that league is very financially unstable, maybe this new league could work. Bring in some revenue to UA and surrounding businesses during the Zips offseason. Just as long as it doesn't hurt the Zips, I'm fine with it!
  2. I hope you meant to say "isn't" It's crazy some of the things these Duq fans are posting in this forum Calling him dumb, how he will never go anywhere nationally at Akron or the MAC. I'd say John Groce and Caleb Porter have something to say about that. I understand we are not a national powerhouse, or even a conference as strong as the A10. But we are better than Duquesne! They haven't made the National Tournament in almost 40 years. What the hell would they know about doing anything nationally? I've heard rumors of us playing them again this year. If we do I can guarantee a 20+ point win, and these idiots will be biting their tongues!
  3. A lot of coaches leave schools while under contract. Even Terry Bowden signed a contract extension with UNA in December, then two weeks later came to Akron.
  4. The same guy tweeted again about Dambrot being the frontrunner. Getting annoyed! Just a thought no one expected Lebron to leave either...just saying But Dambrot to Duquesne would be like Lebron going from the Cleveland to Charlotte
  5. Didn't you hear Keith Dambrot is going to the basketball powerhouse that is Duquesne! They don't play OU there...
  6. Some interesting quotes in this article about KD's future at Akron. You'd like to think a guy like him is honest when making statements like that. Even Terry Bowden had vague answers when asked about his future.
  7. That's really all they have to offer. Akron has a better facilities, fan support, and better athletic department as a whole. If Dambrot is trying to go there for a law degree they may have a case. I also highly doubt they can afford to pay him any more than Akron. I also thought after the first article there was zero chance...but hearing more sources is a bit unsettling. If KD leaves I would say Akron will lose a lot of respect for him.
  8. If he's at the Final Four why not report about Duquesne looking at Calipari or Pitino?
  9. Ohio U fans said Groce would never leave...don't put much stock in their comments on DJ. I really don't care either way, the MAC is Akron's to lose. Maybe OU backed into the 16, but nothing changes the fact that they finished 3rd in the MAC and only won the championship by 1 point.
  10. #ReasonNoOneLikesOhioU #FansAreIdiots
  11. There have been a lot of basketball players turned successful football players. But I'm not sure about track to football. He may have the speed, but can he catch? Track really doesn't force you to have very good hand-eye coordination. In a high-tempo offense, speed can be a huge strength and help him get separation. But if he can't catch the ball, he'll just be Braylon Edwards out there. I'm not trying to be negative about a guy I've never seen play, just saying it's a possible challenge. Another thing I was wondering. How many years of eligibility will he have? I have zero knowledge of how the NCAA rules go as far as switching sports.
  12. Makes sense...when Ianello coached the Zips, people would go to his games and talk about soccer.
  13. That's what we need! A Joe Jurevicius, Wes Welker, Jordon Norwood type of receiver. Maybe they don't make the most spectacular plays like the superstar receivers, but can bring in the clutch catches when it matters!
  14. Not if you are a QB in Akron or Cleveland...
  15. But wait didn't OU fans say their school was going to triple his salary? I thought they were so smart and intelligent? People from OU are starting to look as dumb as Can't fans. Real question is who do I hate more?
  16. Wow a school like that is really a powerhouse! Of course KD will leave Akron (6 MAC championship appearances, 2 NCAA's) for a school that prestigious. Their basketball tradition is amazing, I'm surprised they aren't in the Big East or hell Big Ten for that matter. Maybe since the Big12 is losing members they will invite Duquesne. Their football stadium seats 4500 not bad, only 5,000 less than my high school. Maybe Bowden can go with him... KD would be going from a 4-star restaurant at Akron...to McDonalds in Pittsburgh. Still don't get it!
  17. From what I remember we finished 1st...Ohio U was 3rd. 2nd best was Buffalo...
  18. Like I said why would he want to jump to a losing program? especially at a smaller school? It's just confusing to me. I see they actually mentioned Groce too. But not Shaka Smart?
  19. I actually heard he has been holding out for a job at Hiram? and Caleb Porter is actually going to coach Duquesne soccer. This "writer" just got a little mixed up! it happens... Fans are so sick of coaches using their school as a stepping stone for bigger programs. No wonder we're going to see a new wave of coaches at successful programs leaving to coach garbage schools!
  20. So Keith Dambrot will want to go to a worse school? Why is that? Maybe they beat us this year, we are on a completely different levels not only as a basketball program, but with all athletics. The A10 is better than the MAC in the fact that they have Dayton, Xavier, and Temple. But like the MAC there are two completely different groups of teams. You have the elite and the bad. With a huge talent gap separating them. Duquesne, Richmond, George Washington, etc are comparable to the MAC west. Now as far as their athletics program, they are struggling. If I remember correctly they had to cut out a huge amount of sports a few years ago, and an arena much worse than the JAR. Still don't understand this writer's thinking. Would Tom Izzo leave MSU to coach Ohio if Groce leaves? Will Calipari coach Akron if KD leaves? If KD really wants out of Akron, I guess he could go to a school his dad played at. But that would be a huge blow to our school!! Akron loves him!
  21. I agree it's very nice and would be perfect for us. Maybe some visual improvements to the interior could help. A bigger scoreboard and video ribbon boards going all the way around the arena.
  22. They are a team that is easy to hate. I'll admit they are frustrating because they make so many 3's. A lead can disappear before you know it. But there's something about the way they carry themselves that irritates me. Much like Can't there is a lot of cockiness there. I got tired of watching the game because it seemed like after every single call they were complaining to the refs. Funniest part was when Cooper had his dramatic eye holding incident that almost cost them the game. He barely got touched but falling all over himself like he got punched in the eye. While the UNC went right down the floor and nailed a 3.
  23. Mixed up UK and KU. Either way I hate OU more and more every day
  24. Seriously! How many times was Zeke at the top of the key on both offense and defense. No wonder Cooper can drive right to the hoop. He's always being guarded by a 7ft center! This game is really making me nervous. I felt comfortable when UNC was building a lead, but OU made a run at the end of the half. Only a matter of time until it's a one possession game. I'm sure OU will find a way to win this, and then some of Kentucky's best players will have freak injuries and set them up perfectly for the next round.
  25. I'm very interested to see how this QB situation turns out. I'm glad he wrote a story about and I guess it's really hard to judge just watching them throw in practice. I mean in all reality our defense is really bad. The worst defense in the worst conference in FBS. In the end I'm wondering if the guy that gets the nod is really a good QB, or just the best of a bad group. Let's just hope the starter isn't decided by an Eric Mangini coin flip!! Right now looking at the individuals, I'd really hope to see Nicely stand out. He's really been through a lot. Starting out with JD having a redshirt burned, sticking with Ianello for two years, now one last shot. Moore has also been through a lot. Ole Miss, JUCO, Ianello, and now with a last shot like Nicely. But like I said I'm looking at each of them as individuals. It may not be the best long term solution for the team to have one good year with a guy, then start all over next year. I have high hopes for Tyrell Goodman, and have always rooted for dual threat QB's. Their exciting and have big play ability. I doubt he will win the job, but that will set us up great for the next 3 years. At least give us some optimism and relief to build around.
