  1. Agreed! We needed a football stadium and it happened, we needed a soccer stadium and it happened.
  2. Ohio 85 Akron 60
  3. Man not looking forward to OU. Since the Zips won my excitement has done a 180. I just keep thinking about that blowout in Athens are really don't see the Zips winning. Then on top of that the Redskins traded up to #2, the Browns aren't getting RG3. NIT time I guess...
  4. Ohio and Can't are a lot alike. They have the same kinds of obnoxious fans and players. The only thing that I think annoys me more about OU is that they have idiots that always post on here. To be honest I really don't care what they have to say. But I still don't see it as a rivalry like Can't. I feel like they hate us much more than we hate them. But really we are easily the most hated team in the MAC. Best facilities, national champs, big name coaches, and 6 MAC championship games in a row. Easy to hate a school with that resume!
  5. I mentioned in another thread, BU is the weaker team so I'd take them. I'm still embarrassed we lost to them twice! Maybe third time's the charm
  6. Surprisingly it seemed that we had a lot of calls go in our favor and had a very good night shooting. Could have gone either way, we just need to learn to finish. Sadly, our matchup tomorrow is going to be twice as tough. Not sure who I'd really rather face. We beat OU once, but Buffalo is the weaker team that we lsot to twice. Pick your poison I guess...
  7. Zeke and Tree are both in foul trouble, so give Can't one decent run and they'll be right back with us. Don't expect them to play this way all game, and eventually the 3's will start to fall.
  8. I agree, he's certainly not hurting us right now. Not the way Bardo did for the past three years! But man I really hate these close games! I have a bad feeling Can't is still going to win. We really got relaxed towards the end of the half, content on holding the ball and running out the clock. But please close this out Zips!
  9. Gotta go with Spicer-Exchange site. If building it downtown means it will get done faster, then yes I'll settle on that location. But you have to believe UA wants it right next to InfoCision. Like I've said, imagine the view from the east driving on Route8 seeing the stadium and arena both right there! Build a decent sized parking deck and a small plaza it will be a great place to hang out before and after games. I'd even suggest moving Zipsfest to that area, as opposed to next to the REC where they have it now.
  10. I don't get very excited about recruits. But man Chavas Rawlins should be our #1 target in this draft class. He's got offers from BIG schools and his 40 time is only .02 seconds slower than RG3. Just something about a dual-treat QB means exciting and fast paced football. Something that's been lacking at Akron for quite some time.
  11. I don't know if anyone else noticed it, but Harney looked miserable on the bench. In all honesty I don't think he is very happy at all being in Akron. I just hope he sticks around! Very talented and could be starting next year.
  12. Abreu helping clean the floor...oh no that's a Puerto Rican joke waiting to happen
  13. Source? I have a tough time believing anything this guy posts. Remember he started a thread saying we officially hired Paul Winters as HC, and another saying we officially hired Northern Iowa's HC.
  14. So we're going to finish the season 0-3? fan-freaking-tastic! Way to go Akron Just gave away my MAC tournament tickets, not worth it!
  15. We are still the best in the MAC, one bad game doesn't mean anything. Remember that
  16. ...and if Akron plays the way they did against Ohio in the first game we would be dangerous in the NCAA tourney not just the MAC. Go away
  17. We were down 1...definitely not this bad! We didn't even show up for this game
  18. They are just idiots plain and simple. Not sure what it is, but it seems like the past few teams we've played have just been shooting lights out. It's not even open shots, just ugly deep shots that are hitting too. I'd like to think their luck won't last all game but who knows. From the looks of it I don't have much hope for this game... We are just playing flat out lazy!!
  19. Nice bit of acting...
  20. I think this discussion about the student seating shows that the JAR just will not work anymore if you want a unified section. A new arena with a bowl configuration will make it easy to give the students 1/3 of the lower bowl, leaving the rest open for premium ticket holders. Then an upper deck can be used for general admission. Add club seats and suites, and you'll have the perfect arena. The small seating areas at the JAR are terrible, and I think the reason you don't see a lot of students down there is because they hate it. When I was a student at UA, I tried it out freshman year. After one game I decided I would never sit down there again.
  21. The most impressive part is definitively the area south of Exchange. That's why I still believe the arena needs to be right next to Infocision, somewhere in that general area. Making a plaza similar to Gateway in Cleveland
  22. Can BG miss a dang shot? wow we seriously should be beating them by 20 right now.
  23. Unfortunately this is just added proof that Can't is a completely different team at home, than away. Similar to Ohio I think they are both undefeated at home in MAC play. I'm not sure how much validity that adds to our wins at home against both of them. Does that really mean that we are a better team? I would hope so, but I guess we'll have to find out soon enough. At the end of the day it's great to see a hated conference rival lose, but at the same time I'd rather ignore it. Sometimes Karma will come right around and bite you. We laugh at Can't for losing, next thing you know we lost to BG...just saying
  24. Exactly how I feel. As much as I would like to see Clayton Moore or Nicely as the starter, we have like 7 QB's if I remember correctly. Could be an exaggeration, but wouldn't you think that at least ONE OF THEM would stand out and get this team some dadgum wins! Same goes with the RB's, I'm going to have favorites but I'll take wins anyways we can get them. Imagine what would happen if we have a young QB emerge this year as a star. A Jeremy Lin of the Zips if you will, leading the team to a 3-0 start and 3-1 record after four games haha. Zips fans would be going nuts, with the school and entire city crazy about football again! We want a winner and are desperate to see it! Even with a small glimpse of success I believe the fans will flock to support the team...oh what a dream scenario. But in all honesty I'd be happy with a 2-2 start, but even happier if we find a QB that can get the ball in the endzone!
