  1. Hopefully these recruits were players actually getting looks from other schools!
  2. Have him play both!!
  3. That sure is scary thinking we could have Harney for three more years!!! Dude just threw down 21 on the best team in the MAC. In only 14 minutes in his first year!
  4. Wait...Harney is a soph? I didn't know him and Tree lost a year of eligibility because they sat out for grades
  5. I was a bit nervous when he didn't really do much in the first half...but wow he tore it up in the 2nd! What 21 points? Harney should be starting vs. Ball State. Just goes to show if he gets PT he will lead the team in scoring!
  6. I'd much rather see Bowden take a risk with players that BCS schools pulled scholarships from, as opposed to these random HS players that NO ONE else is offering. There's what 16 players pinned in this section? How many only had Akron as an offer? 13? 14 of them? I understand thinking we may have found a diamond in the rough, but really doubt we found dozens of them. Like I said before, if these are people Bowden's staff found I will at least give them the benefit of the doubt for now. But if these are the Ianello players and he's simply honoring the initial offer, we will be in for a rough year...since Ianello was completely incapable of finding good players.
  7. UCF didn't seem to have any problem with that...
  8. Yeah, it's tough to judge some of these signings. First, if they are mostly Ianello recruits then chances are they probably aren't very good. Second, most have no other FBS offers and many don't list any other offers at all. If some are found by Bowden I would be a bit more optimistic, but really I doubt Ianello could find the "diamond in the rough" players and especially not the dozens we've seen signed.
  9. If he gets a new arena built, he'd be the best thing to happen in the history of UA. I'd suggest putting a statue of him up instead of Buchtel haha or at least right next to his just 2x the size.
  10. I actually think it would be a cool giveaway for the first game. Similar to the "Roo Zoo" shirts from '09. When Georgetown first hired John Thompson III their student section started wearing shirts with a big "III" on the back. Could be cool too see some "Fear The Dadgum Roo" shirts, with something on the back welcoming coach to Akron. I like adding it onto the existing logo, but might be more unique to have the text a bit bigger on a shirt so people will notice right away it says something different. Just because from a distance you may not notice...
  11. They need to be something that stands us apart from the rest of the MAC. Something cool that can attract recruits. Not necessarily over-the-top like Oregon or Maryland, but something can can give the team a variety of combinations and represent a new era. Give me 2 helmets (Blue-Gold), 3 Jerseys (Blue-White-Gold alt) and 3 pants (Gold-Blue-White). Would leave us open to seeing a lot of cool combos! We'll look dadgum cool!
  12. Agreed, and an excellent speaker! Although it was on a station very anti-UA I'm glad he got a little exposure to the Cleveland area.
  13. There's a 13min podcast on their website now. Link
  14. Buffalo is weak, but we haven't been playing well as of late. All 3 games were close, and I don't want to hear all this "Miami and BG are good teams". They both stink! I say Akron loses by 10.
  15. 88-62 Let me know when you have teams worth talking about...
  16. I like getting these commits from lineman. They may not be the "superstar" players, but the key to a good offense starts with a good o-line. And to be honest the past two years we have been pretty poor in that area. We need all the help we can get!
  17. From ESPN: From Here
  18. Like I mentioned earlier, they finished 2nd in the league in attendance last year. That can't be bad! Especially being a minor league team, in a city with 3 major sports teams.
  19. We're still a team that plays to the level of our competition and suffers from slow starts to games. We beat Miss St, but lose to Valpo and Duquesne? doesn't make much sense! We beat Miami and BG but both were close wins. Teams like that we should beat by 10-15 easily, especially if you think we're going anywhere in the postseason. Now we beat OU, a team I haven't been impressed by all season. But at least they have a decent record. Now how do we play against Buffalo? I'm not impressed with them either but I bet it will be close. For once in a conference game this season I want to see us jump out to a 10 point lead early. Not play catch up all game and depend on a 8+ point run to win us the game!
  20. Yeah I saw that they took back the balloons. Stupid, just stupid. This OU coach bitched the entire game, and postgame about everything! No wonder he'd have a problem with some freaking balloons.
  21. Can't believe we couldn't get him courtside seats though! The picture tweeted was from the upper level, c'mon TW if Lebron can sit courtside Bowden def deserves it too! Even I've gotten to sit courtside and I'm not very significant in the sports world. Unless a few division and city championships in my middle and high school years count lol
  22. I mentioned college specific arena. Louisville's is used by both UL and the city if I remember correctly.
  23. Well Oregon's is the most expensive college specific arena ever built. -Chaifetz Arena for St. Louis only cost $80million, built in '08. Although I don't like the layout since it's only 1 level. -Missouri State's JQH Arena cost 67million or UCF's Arena would be perfect if UA built it alone. Pretty affordable too, at least compared to the other arenas mentioned.
  24. I agree, the Tullio Arena may not be in the best shape, but they are going to give it a huge renovation soon. Converting it into more of a horseshoe configuration. They have the Erie Otters a well followed OHL team. Arena football and NBDL have smaller crowds, but other events bring in A LOT of money! From what I understand they will be adding luxury suites and a restaurant as well. Now take that and add a second level and you have a perfect arena for Akron. How did we pay for the football and soccer stadiums? InfoCision, Summa, Cub Cadet, and FirstEnergy put a lot of money forward. Do you realize how much money some of these Northeast Ohio companies will be willing to put forward to put their name on it? Just face that there's a lot of people with a lot of money! That's not going to be a problem... People like to complain about tax money going into the stadium. That's why they just look ignorant.
  25. At the end of the day, the better team won. Ohio came out with the gameplan of...if we can't defend them, just foul them. I was disappointed with the end of the game but really it's a learning process. I'm sure KD wasn't happy and will make sure they don't let it happen again. I'm not trying to say Q didn't deserve the T, but really that cueball on OU's sideline was screaming at the refs the whole game. He didn't get a T, but Q says one thing and does? Oh well it's over and done. I was not very impressed with anyone on their team and it shows that we are by far the best team in the MAC. btw, Bobby Bowden tweeted a pic from Terry at the game. Anyone see him there? funny I never saw Ianello and any sporting event other than football. And in reality that's the one place I didn't want to see him. I know it's been said a million times already. But it feels good to have a coach that really cares about our school while he's here!!
