Hopefully Fred has some "intelligent" things to say. He's still mad because apparently the soccer Zips played 14 vs 11 all season...
-
That's the way I see it too. That's the same thing Cam Newton did, he transferred from Florida to JC, then Auburn. Safe to say things worked out well for him. But Moore is no Newton, sadly. The thing I was wondering about Moore, if you play in JC do you lose a year of eligibility? I assume you would. He was most likely red-shirted at Ole Miss, so how long will we have him?

Wow we are losing... get it together KD EDIT: well we are tied, but being tied to a team called Oral Roberts in the SECOND HALF is terrible

Chipotle is coming! Chipotle is coming!

Any name or idea of what style of bar? Maybe a Hustler bar like in Cleveland? -
Best Men's Athletic Program in the Country
akzipper replied to MDZip's topic in Akron Zips NCAA Championship Soccer
I saw that. It was great. Thank you Men's Soccer! I missed that one, but did see a promo showing THIS year's College Cup finally (they were showing last year's final all fall). Not sure if it was Nanny or maybe Z carrying the ball. Hopefully I'll see it more times after this endless parade of crummy bowl games is over. BTW-- where did we finish overall last year? 24 pts for second in soccer, did we get any more? I think we finished with 24, the rest of our sports are kinda terrible -
Further Expansion of Lee Jackson Field
akzipper replied to MaxZIP's topic in Akron Zips NCAA Championship Soccer
No doubt, it's something that should have been done by now actually. Lee Jackson Field at the Outback Pouch No "two named" stadium again haha I still get tired of hearing "Infocision Stadium - Summa Field" -
Up until ten years ago or so, OSU didn't have very competitive admissions at all. Around that time, it was common knowledge that anyone who went to my old high school with a sub par GPA or better was a shoe-in at OSU. Of course, things have changed, but just about every school in Ohio has it's strong points. I agree that every universtiy has its strong points..im not trying to put anyone down. I just think OSU has probably the best overall university akzipper- I dont know..I could be wrong but I've never seen people around campus saying Akron sucks or anything like that. I think a lot of people root for them because they are an in-state team. Just like I root for the Bengals, Reds, and Cavs professionally. I do have a cousin who played for OSU who is currently in the pros (hartline). So I guess I do have a connection. But I dont think because you dont have a connection to a team, you cant root for them. Does that mean if you are from NE Ohio, you cant root for any professional team not from cleveland? Im curious to know who a lot of you rooted for while you were growing up. I honestly dont think it would be akron unless you had some sort of strong family connection to the university. Im from the ohio valley where the closest big city is pittsburgh(who i hate in all sports), so i dont really understand. OSU is not a pro team. It is a school, I don't go around calling myself a St. V's or Hoban fan just because they are good or because I live in Akron. I'm a fan of my High School. Growing up I would root for several colleges, never OSU. But I based it on which schools I wanted to attend when I got older. Now being a part of UA, I am a Zips fan. That's where I got my education and the place I can call "my school." OSU fans like to claim it as their school even if they didn't go there, which is annoying. Their excuse is "I've been a fan since I was a kid", well okay but once you attend a college such as Akron, OU, BG, Toledo, or even Can't, you should stand behind your school. I get sick and tired of hearing all this "Akron's not real college sports" crap from people in Ohio, even UA students. I don't need to be sitting in my dorm listening to idiots screaming after OSU beat the Zips a few years back. Thankfully we brought home a National Championship this year, which hopefully won't happen in Columbus any time soon. So we have bragging rights even if it is "just soccer." My problem with OSU is not their students or alums....but bandwagon fans and UA students rooting for OSU.
-
I just don't see how people can root for a school they have no connection to. I'd say 99% of Suckeyes fans have never attended a class there and just root for them because they are good. What does that make them? a bandwagon fan. Most are annoying and loud mouths, who wear their stupid red and grey crap around campus laughing at people who root for Akron. Oh well we brought home a National Championship this year, and OSwho has not.

too bad we are actually a cupcake

I feel like we are going to have WAY too many MLS teams to root for. We'll have Zips playing all over the freaking country. Just hopefully none in Columbus. Give Akron a freaking MLS team and rig the draft so every Zip goes to that team. Then we can build an MLS dynasty too! LOL
-
Wouldn't be surprised if we lose this game...
-
Hopefully we have some more FCS teams we can lose to.

First Zip to Play in the EPL
akzipper replied to johnnyzip84's topic in Akron Zips NCAA Championship Soccer
Screw the EPL! this is AMERICA I'm more proud of Zips playing in the MLS. I don't care about Manchesters and Arsenals, just like 99% of America doesn't care about the EPL. We need players to STAY in the best country in the world! Let's just hope none of them end up playing for an MLS team in that city south of Akron. -
down 9 early to a team called Bethune-Cookman? okay this is flat out embarrassing

Best Men's Athletic Program in the Country
akzipper replied to MDZip's topic in Akron Zips NCAA Championship Soccer
Does anyone know how OSwho and Can't are doing? oh that's right they aren't even on that list....too bad -
Texas DC Muschamp going to Florida Remember all you people hate UA for hiring Ianello because he was no a head coach. Muschamp was not a head coach. Florida didn't seem to have a problem with that.
-
Should be interesting to see what Can't fans have to say. They always tend to rip Akron, even in positive articles. Well idk if I can even say "they", the only Can't fan on ohio.com is freaking "fred" who is by far the dumbest person in ohio.

The Browns have a decent season and their coach leaves to coach a better team?
-
get rid of Buffalo and Western Kentucky and I'd be happy...get 2 decent teams from C-USA to switch
-
I thought YSU would moving to the Big Ten because they are the greatest football team to ever walk on this planet? well I guess their fans would make you think that...
-
At what other school would this be noticed? Nearly every school in the country. Are you an Ohio State fan or something? Seriously, not trying to direct hate at you at all, i'm just confused with how you can honestly think at a college sporting event it's alright to have another (especially a rival) team's logo on you. Akron needs to build it's own identity, if someone wont come to something because they are a bigger OSU fan then who cares? I'd rather build something great and have a true fan base that isn't a bunch of front running sheep. Yes, I am an Ohio State fan. I didn't grow up in Akron, or near any other university. My parents were Buckeyes fans, so doing what a lot of little kids do, I followed my parents and became a Buckeyes fan. I remember starting to watch them when I was 5 years old, so by the time I got accepted to The University of Akron I had been a Bucks fan for 13 years. I graduated from Akron and continue to attend UA for my Master's Degree. Over the past 10 years, I've grown to love Akron Zips athletics quite a bit, especially the basketball program. I've been to countless games, I've traveled out of state to see them, and have successfully turned my parents and wife into Zips fans as well. The Zips are far and away my #1 collegiate sports program. With that being said, my love for UA sports doesn't mean I'm going to just stop following Ohio State as my #2. I continue to cheer for them in every game that isn't against Akron...and I don't think there's anything wrong with that. I never wear OSU stuff to Akron games, but I also don't care if other people do. It doesn't affect our recruits, it doesn't affect our players, and we are not rivals (playing them in soccer doesn't make us rivals..with that line of thinking Milliken is our rival too). A few other things...I have seen people wear other teams' gear in other places numerous times - I've seen just about every MLB team's stuff at Progressive Field (when that team isn't playing), same goes for the Q and Browns Stadium. It happens a lot more than you think. One more thing...any non-athlete who selects a college based on their sports teams is going to that school for all the wrong reasons. no where in this did you say anything about you or your parents attending OSU. So you are a bandwaggon fan, you have no other reason to root for them except for the fact that they are good. You have ZERO connection to the school!
-
It wouldn't matter if we had Tom Brady as our QB, our line is so terrible he'd have a half a second to throw every play, and when you have no WRs it's even harder.
-
They are the original state school. I'd root for the Bongcats over the OSU NOTC's any day as well. That doesn't mean they represent Ohio...good God, the OSU inferiority complex is annoying. No school represents Ohio. Just like UA does not represent Akron. They are both schools! not professional sports teams. Imagine you went to Hoban for high school and every day you had to listen to classmates talk about how awesome St. V's is and how much better they are. See how stupid it is to be sitting in a class at The University of Akron and have to listen to idiots run their mouth about OSU.
-
They are the original state school. I'd root for the Bongcats over the OSU NOTC's any day as well. Agreed! I love how 90% of suckeyes fans have never taken a class there, but they claim it to be their school. Bunch of idiots! They jump on the bandwaggon and have fun watching other teams win national championships while they are busy beating up on schools like Marshall and OU.
