  1. What in the ever loving hell is going on........
  2. Last comment about this...we know Groce can bring a player of similar caliber as a replacement (see KJ Walton). Lets just hope he hits this time or our window we thought we had might be shattered before we have a chance to enter. Ali has/had flaws, but he also had/has a high ceiling and the ability to score efficiently at all 3 levels. I don't think we have a proven player on our team that can do that. Big hole. Will be interesting to see how the 2 open schollies are addressed. I'd hope for stretch 4 and wing, but we may have to settle for 2 wings.
  3. Not specific to Ali, but with BVP and Sears entering also, I wonder how much NIL is playing a factor? Can't imagine our players are getting much, if anything. Maybe we should start a fund...
  4. It's an epidemic...now lets hope Rollins enters next lol.
  5. Meh, I think he's replaceable but to assume its a given is a stretch. For every year X Williams, LCJ, etc...there seems to be a Eric Hester, Jeremy Roscoe, Kdahim Gueye. Losing your leading scorer isn't no big deal. Groce & Co has their work cut out for them.
  6. Nice article by GT to start us off!
  7. Feels like both Williams and Segu were there forever, so I don’t necessarily think them leaving is an indictment against the state of Buffalo’s program. I don’t know anything about the center. LCJ left with a year of eligibility and BVP is leaving OU a year after a NCAA tourney win. Sometimes it’s just time to move on whatever the reason may be. With that said, Seems like Buffalo is due to take a big step down unless they hit on the transfer portal. None of their young players stuck out to me.
  8. B&G hit it on the head, but Akron Beacon Journal is the "best" by default. Also you'll see a lot of the interviews in the sense I was talking about on the Akron Zips/Akron Football social media accounts and the Akron Zips youtube channel.
  9. Here we go. I hope interviews, highlights, etc are much more regular than the previous years.
  10. I figured BVP was done with college ball, but this could be just what the doctor ordered. I imagine he's trying to go higher though.
  11. We sort of just did the same with Moorhead
  12. TW did a nice job "failing forward",
  13. I stepped up finally with the news of the Moorhead hire. Don't believe I've heard anything since the initial deposit though. Plan to do the same for the bball program as well actually due to their success. Doubt I'll end up doing anything more than GA for the time being due to it just being tough to make many of the games in person, but I figure at least it shows support 🤷‍♂️ For whatever reason, I feel the university deserves my $$ much more than the Browns, especially after the past week.
  14. Some scheduling info from this. We have Wright State, Marshall, and Cayman Islands so far for next year. I'd guess Wright State and Marshall locations flipped from 2021. In addition, the conference is going back to 18 game schedule so there will be 2 more non-conference games. Groce also said he likes to tailor the non conference schedule based on the team, so I would look forward to that generally being beefed up some.
  15. Basile just entered the portal.
  16. Now there is a nugget. Lets get her!
  17. Guthrie is getting some hype.. https://dailyorange.com/2022/03/syracuse-university-grad-charles-guthrie-becomes-rising-star-akrons-athletic-director/
  18. Congrats on the W last night...the former Zips assistant Lamont Paris just about took you all down. Appreciate your contributions to the board.
  19. Didn't want to create a new thread, but Dennis Gates is the leading candidate for Missouri apparently. He's done nice at Cle St, but nothing really noteworthy to warrant that big of a jump IMO. Edit: As long as it isn't Groce, why the hell am I complaining?!
  20. There are two aspects that stick out to me this offseason: 1) Do we utilize the transfer portal, and if so how? Messing with the 8 man rotation is a gamble. In addition, how much more room can we realistically have in the rotation, 1 player? You'd hope Kalle, one of the redshirt freshman, or one of the incoming freshman could fill whatever need(s) you think you have going into next season. Not to mention everyone on the team should continue to at least make incremental improvements. 2) How can we best position ourselves to get an at-large bid so that the entire season and chance to build on success doesn't come down to 3 days in Cleveland? The Cayman Island Classic is a good start, but you probably want 1 or 2 additional chances against average or better P5 programs and 1 or 2 chances against better mid-major programs. Losses to those types won't hurt near as much as a loss to App St, and wins are selling points for at-larges. Win some of those challenging games, perform like you need to in conference play, and you might have a chance if you slip up in Cleveland. Toledo and Kent should continue to be tough and I would expect Ohio to compete with Sears, Boals, and whatever additions they bring. I'd think Buffalo is looking a decent drop off with Segu, Mballa, and Williams gone I believe.
  21. It did. We needed more from him without a doubt. Honestly, besides Freeman, X and Clarke to an extent, nobody really showed up on offense. Maybe we should give some credit to UCLA's D though. We didn't have many easy opportunities. With that said, just ANY call going our way probably would have changed the outcome. It stinks.
  22. Man…Ali had Wynn wide open in the corner….
  23. We cannot buy a call smh
