Scrolling through the updated roster - only currently 2 scholarship players not on it that we weren't aware of - Vince Fonte and Andre Williams. Both were either low or non-contributors this past season.
-
It includes walk ons. The 2021 roster would have even more players listed. No 2022 players would show up on the roster yet as they aren’t enrolled and/or haven’t signed LOI yet. The roster is simply a rollover from prior year less anyone who they know is no longer with the program. The classes aren’t even updated (players like Jasiah Gathings and Myles Walker are showing as sophomores but they redshirted last year).

This would appear to be our S&C coach per his twitter. Another guy with a lot of experience. https://pittsburghpanthers.com/sports/football/roster/coaches/ben-iannacchione/1933

I'd really like to keep Mathison. I swear I recall seeing him getting offers from umASS, GA Southern, and Hawaii, but those are now deleted from his twitter, so that gave me a little hope something might have changed. However, none of the new staff are even following him so it seems like he's gone for good. A wildcard is Andre Williams who has been around forever. He was a nice contributor when Bowden was here and can hopefully return to form if he comes back for a super senior season. I still like the potential of the 3 other freshman brought in last year (Gathings, Singleton, and Walker). As long as I don't have to see us being forced to put freshman walk-ons out there after an injury or two...

Per @Blue & Gold' list on the first page, we currently have: QB: 1 Jennings (HS) RB: 2 Wiley (T), Kellom (HS) WR: 1 Jacquez-Louis (T) TE: 1 Banks (T) OL: 1 Banes (T) DL: 3 Robinson (T), Harper (T), Jones (T) LB: 1 Terry (T) DB: 2 Threatt (T), Martin (T) Note I removed Dixon and Leopold. Their twitters or 247 may show as committed, but I don't see it happening based on the other recruits no longer having offers. How many more transfers do we think we get/need? I'd thinks something like 1 upperclassman QB, 1-2 OL, 1 WR, maybe 1 LB and 1 DB? With all of that, we're at 18 scholarships. Leaves room for up to 14 additional freshman. Something like 2 WR, 2 OL, 2 DL, 2 LB, 3DB is only 11. The new rules along with where the roster currently really gives the staff a chance to significantly improve this roster in one offseason, even with them getting started late.

Victor Jones, DE from Wyoming just committed as well. Unsure if started or not, but played a lot based on stats.
-
We've got all these shiny new commits, but it might only be 33% of what we'll end up with lol. Still a plenty of players to add!

When I saw the offer the other day I checked out his hudl and I was impressed. I wonder if sitting out approximately half of the games for half the seasons as a result of blowouts affected interest. I also saw some Ivy league offers as well. Our last RB from St. X, Conor Hundley was pretty solid.

Also got a transfer LB from Buffalo, Tim Terry

AJ Campbell, UCLA transfer from Akron, committed to Kent 😐

We are a young team who didn't lose much to graduation and as far as we know so far, hasn't really lost a ton of players with the coaching change. We are ultimately looking at I think as little as 17 scholarships available and as much as 32 (with the new transfer portal rules) to get to the 85 limit. Not very helpful I'm sure, but It'll all depend on how many players actually end up staying - whether its by their choice or the new staff's. The roster for next year won't likely be finalized until fall camp as I'm sure spring ball will be telling for both the coaches and players in terms of talent and projected playing time and some additional spots will open up. The good news is, even if there happens to be a dozen or so players we don't know about no longer on the team next season, we still have the opportunity to be at 85 scholarship players. Thats something that was never done in the Arth era.

You know GT's going to milk COVID as long as he can to sit from home. I think he hasn't been at a very large majority of events in person since this began.
-
From what I've seen on twitter, Tre Bell seems pretty well regarded as a recruiter. The guys it seems like we've mostly been offering so far are transfer portals and maybe class of 2022 who are rated well and have offers, but may have been left holding the bag after early signing day. I'm not complaining about that as those look to be some good players, but I agree with you - would be nice to see us clearly going head to head against another program and come out ahead.
-
I don't give a damn if GT is supposed to have somebody review his articles or not. Any competent professional should at least do a read over of their work to catch obvious errors. I have zero doubt in my mind that his position is one of the least coveted at the ABJ and I'd also assume he's protected by a union (may be wrong there) or he'd have been replaced long ago.

OU's guards might be better and Sears has obviously improved a ton, but I thought the difference was BVP and Carter. There aren't many teams in the country with bigs as dynamic as those two. I don't know how OU fans felt about their team's performance tonight, but I definitely don't think it was our best showing. Ali and Dawson's performance stuck out to me the most. X, Freeman, and Wynn also to an extent, but less so. Ali did try to do too much at the end, but I'm happy with the aggression. I'm sure he's learning the role on the go after being a secondary option his career thus far. I think he'll improve in that regard and we need him to do so if we want to compete for it all in Cleveland. Go Zips.

Banks' "transfer" rating would almost be certainly much lower than his rating out of HS. Him being #2 at WVU and starting a few games this year has me intrigued. Like others, I don't particularly see TE as a position of need with Brank the clear #1 IMO. I think I read he was named 3rd team all MAC and the first Zips TE ever make an All MAC team, and he was only a "super" freshman. He reported on twitter he had an offer from Missouri. Who knows how committable it was, but nice get regardless. Maybe there is something we don't know about the position group, but at the very least I think we've upgraded the #2 TE slot.
-
I think he was already at Miss St prior to Moorhead, but would think this would be a candidate.
-
I'm a little disappointed we didn't get official staff hire announcements today.
-
Does it exclude the games vs Point Park and Wheeling? We are 8-3 and Buffalo is 6-6. Seems odd that we would drop after beating Buffalo and they'd move up a spot??
-
They do...so far. Its hard to argue with their record. Their P5 losses weren't particularly close. Had a nice mid-major win over Belmont. Florida really made us forget about that buzzer beater loss to OSU. I think our team is starting to find their identity and gel (which was probably set back by the unexpected departure of Walton). Looking forward to Tuesday to see where things really stand. I think if we beat Buffalo and OU this early in the season, it would bode well for the rest of conference play.
-
Just Mumpfield and Gibson so far. Mathison would likely be the only other. Only Council went P5 (to Auburn) when Bowden left, though a lot of players disappeared or transferred out. They would have had to wait a year unless they were a grad transfer then.
-
Just a random two cents: Seems like more guys from the Arth exodus are going P5 than when Bowden was replaced. Mathison hasn't committed anywhere yet and it seems he's just getting G5 interest at this point. I'd like to see Moorhead convince him to stay.
-
Mumpfield to Pitt.

Our QB coach currently coaches CJ Stroud. Thats pretty sweet.
