  1. Couple nice assists from Tribble so far.
  2. FWIW, I read it as the author of the article making that comment, not Mumpfield.
  3. Well said everyone. This team could still pull something off we don't expect, as we were a miracle buzzer beater away from beating OSU at their place (though we had a bit of a miracle ourselves the play before). While I hope we can exceed expectations as we wrap up the season, I also believe we are one piece away from having one of those DJ Cooper/LCJ magical teams. Unfortunately its a pretty big piece. Lets hope we can retain who we want heading into next season and one of these 4 young guards can turn into the next LCJ or Cooper. I also am kind of disappointed that COVID has somewhat took away from the John Groce experience - not just for us, but for him. The JAR was so much fun with those Zeke, Big Dog, Tree, etc teams. And I believe the atmosphere was finally starting to get back where it should be at that Kent St game to close out the regular season in 2020, then boom, COVID.
  4. Re Redshirt rules: Looks like they were going to look to loosen them up to at least be more in line with football this past summer. https://www.si.com/college/tmg/mark-blaudschun/college-basketball-redshirt However, doesn't seem like anything ever got done considering the A-10 was petitioning looser restrictions last month. https://www.gwhatchet.com/2022/01/24/a-10-conference-petitions-ncaa-to-waive-redshirt-eligibility-rules-as-covid-cases-rise/ It makes no sense to me why football would have looser restrictions than basketball considering less games in football. I guess this is the NCAA were talking about.
  5. I'm the opposite of you and B&G. I don't have any expectations from him. He should be the 4th best RB on the roster at best. He's a walk on and while he did make some nice plays (BG game sticks out), it was clear the last few games of the year that playing him ahead of Norrils was not a good decision. I also expect Wiley to come in and compete for the starting spot, and you'd hope you can get more out of Ant Williams as well.
  6. Nice game overall, outside of another sub-par first half and more turnovers then I'd like. Player of the game goes to Ali, but I think everyone played positive minutes. Go Zips!
  7. Per your request, you missed the mark on predicting a loss to FCS Saint Francis.
  8. Hell of a game by Freeman and nice contributions from some others - including Clarke, Wynn, and Aziz. If they can step up on a regular basis we might have something to work with.
  9. Mike. Wynn!!!
  10. I know the announcer said that, but I think of him as more of an Andy Varajeo..and its not just because of the hair flying around.
  11. I think he might have airballed one earlier too. He sure is inconsistent at his thing. Groce seems to be a big fan though.
  12. Mike Wynn denies him!
  13. Whistles are a bit inconsistent.
  14. Bandaogo puts him on a poster!
  15. I like X off the ball.
  16. Missing FTs, turnovers, bad rebounding, air-balling/missing lay ups. Same old same old. Can't complain too much if we win though. I think we just expect more.
  17. we are weak with the ball.
  18. My vote goes to the "another ugly start" category.
  19. Wasn't Coleman-Lands good last year? Surprised to hear its his first start of the season.
  20. We'll know for sure once the fall roster is released. If he's on it, walk on. If not, greyshirt..assuming he shows up next year. I'd think the staff would announce him then as well.
  21. And there were other benefits tied to it + KD was here and we were having success. If not then, when?
  22. I'd just assume he's a walk-on, or possibly a grey-shirt - meaning offered a spot for next year. If grey-shirt, it would be the same thing as what Ryan Jankowski and Konata Mumpfield did.
  23. If you walk through the student rec center, there are 3 regular courts students play on, and then two additional "blue courts" next to those used for intramurals and what not (at least in my time there). Significant enrollment drops seems like those aren't really used anymore and now that piece of the center is going to be turned into the practice facility. that's my interpretation anyways.
  24. Indeed. I've stepped up my game some as well. Unfortunately the fact likely is you or I don't make a sizable difference. It needs to be a collective effort or some of those with potential to be big players need to step up if not already done so. For the most part, the only reason we were able to get a coach of this caliber is luck (prior familiarity with program/region, wanting to be closer to family, at a point in their career money no longer appears to be the main concern). Lets take advantage of it!
  25. Might be getting a bit too carried away here, but if we're all worried about staff leaving already, there is one way to prevent or slow that: Money. Go to games, invite friends and family, donate to the program, buy season tickets, etc. The program needs money in order to keep talent.
