NIL money is not supposed to be contingent on attending a school or performance. I understand thats the way it is right now, but the system needs fixed and isn't working the way it was intended, IMO.

I haven't spent enough time thinking about it...but my off the cuff thoughts are how so? There are still the same amount of scholarships available (up to 85 per team). These players transferring may be taking up a spot on a new team, but are opening one on their old team. There's obviously different approaches on how to build a team, but I fail to see how an argument can be made that there are less opportunities for high school kids (if that is indeed the case). Once again, haven't spent much time thinking about it.

I must have missed this guy..not Bubba4Three is it ?

An SEC recruit who hasn't recorded a stat in his career thus far (including at Memphis). I can't imagine we'd be recruiting players who aren't immediately eligible, but I wonder what the status on that is considering he's already transferred...unless he got his degree. Regardless, there was potential there at some point to end up at Miss St and we have to start somewhere. Lets hope something can be realized here. Go Zips!

Can't blame OU fans for attempting to talk smack. I guarantee you they're scared..not only for our hire but for the product whats his face put on the field for them this past season. A true double whammy. I'm sure Kent fans are worried as well, but there aren't enough of them that know how to use the internet for us to see.

I don't think we'll really know until everything is finalized. Ex - prior staff had ILB and OLB coaches. I've seen staffs with safeties and corner coaches. Also will have a recruiting coordinator and strength & conditioning coach for sure if you want to count them.

and Akron native. Come home Antoine!

Announced attendance for yesterday's game: 1529 Announced attendance for 2019 season Dec 8, 2pm Sunday game vs Southern: 2036 Announced attendance for 2019 season Dec 15, 2pm Sunday game vs Concord: 1964 I don't know if there was a women's double header on the same day as those 2019 games, but I'd have to think if that game didn't get canceled, we would have had a few hundred more there. Also COVID does have an impact, though how much is debatable.

Searching on twitter, the offers I've seen going are to very veteran defensive lineman players (1 or 2 years of eligibility). They are obviously recruiting @John Ward

He was one of the few bright spots. I'm sure he'll end up at a better program like the other 2. Gotta believe in Joe, but losing our good players is only making success more difficult.

First time I've ever seen that happen. Great play that bad about a 38 yard difference in field position. He can catch punts too unlike Felton.

As another aside, when watching #0 this year, I couldn't help but think he reminded me of that Jeanette QB. -

Nice article outside of some typos. I wonder who the DC is. Also, coach plans to call plays and apparently prefers to stretch the field more than he did this year at Oregon. I imagine we'll get to see the "real" Moorhead offense in the Alamo bowl if they sit that Sr QB. https://www.beaconjournal.com/story/sports/college/zips/2021/12/09/university-akron-coach-joe-moorhead-lays-out-his-philosophies-mid-american-conference-zips/8872891002/ -
Press Conference Introducing Coach Moorhead (Thursday 10 am)

I caught the mention as well and know he used to be a big donor when I was in school. Was there some sort of fallout between then and now? -

WMU, NIU, and almost Kent til they choked in the MAC-C(yikes) would say yes. Not as realistic in recent years with the AAC's success, but with their top schools going to the Big 12, we are back to a much more level playing field in the G5 IMO. Of course its mostly going to depend on having multi-year double digit wins, wins over P5 teams, and not getting blown out from the top tier teams..which isn't easy. -

Nice presser. The only thing that I think would worry me about JoeMo leaving would be the Pitt or even potentially WVU job opening up - assuming he has the success we all think he can have. Only 3 questions from the media, 1 from GT (which was pointless) was just downright embarrassing, however. -

Seems like McClendon would be a hell of a get... "A 14-year coaching veteran of the SEC and one of the nation’s top recruiters, Bryan McClendon joined head coach Mario Cristobal’s staff in 2020 as pass game coordinator and wide receivers coach. McClendon spent the previous two seasons as South Carolina’s offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach. His four years in Columbia were preceded by nine seasons on the staff at Georgia, where he was part of 85 wins and a pair of SEC East titles. Named the National Recruiter of the Year by 247Sports in 2014, McClendon was the running backs coach at Georgia for six seasons (2009-14) before taking over the wide receivers room in 2015 while serving as passing game coordinator. He was also Georgia’s recruiting coordinator the last two seasons and was the program’s interim head coach during the 2015 TaxSlayer Bowl win over Penn State." -

My thoughts are similar. It appears they have started recruiting though as offers are going out. I've only seen transfer portal and JUCO offers thus far. Seems tough to do both jobs, but he should have a staff back here doing most of the heavy lifting until the bowl game is over. -
Some info on the interest Mumpfield is receiving: https://rutgerswire.usatoday.com/2021/12/09/konata-mumpfield-discusses-leaving-akron-power-five-offers-coming-in-and-rutgers-interest/

Can't forget Bowden having his JD and having x amount of years experience head coaching, but taking a GA position at Clemson to screw us over :).
