  1. Wow. Hope its with us!
  2. I got the call/voicemail as well. I assume he wasn't actually on the line...right?
  3. As another aside, when watching #0 this year, I couldn't help but think he reminded me of that Jeanette QB.
  4. Nice article outside of some typos. I wonder who the DC is. Also, coach plans to call plays and apparently prefers to stretch the field more than he did this year at Oregon. I imagine we'll get to see the "real" Moorhead offense in the Alamo bowl if they sit that Sr QB. https://www.beaconjournal.com/story/sports/college/zips/2021/12/09/university-akron-coach-joe-moorhead-lays-out-his-philosophies-mid-american-conference-zips/8872891002/
  5. I caught the mention as well and know he used to be a big donor when I was in school. Was there some sort of fallout between then and now?
  6. WMU, NIU, and almost Kent til they choked in the MAC-C(yikes) would say yes. Not as realistic in recent years with the AAC's success, but with their top schools going to the Big 12, we are back to a much more level playing field in the G5 IMO. Of course its mostly going to depend on having multi-year double digit wins, wins over P5 teams, and not getting blown out from the top tier teams..which isn't easy.
  7. Pinch me. That is a steal. Guthrie is the man.
  8. Nice presser. The only thing that I think would worry me about JoeMo leaving would be the Pitt or even potentially WVU job opening up - assuming he has the success we all think he can have. Only 3 questions from the media, 1 from GT (which was pointless) was just downright embarrassing, however.
  9. Seems like McClendon would be a hell of a get... "A 14-year coaching veteran of the SEC and one of the nation’s top recruiters, Bryan McClendon joined head coach Mario Cristobal’s staff in 2020 as pass game coordinator and wide receivers coach. McClendon spent the previous two seasons as South Carolina’s offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach. His four years in Columbia were preceded by nine seasons on the staff at Georgia, where he was part of 85 wins and a pair of SEC East titles. Named the National Recruiter of the Year by 247Sports in 2014, McClendon was the running backs coach at Georgia for six seasons (2009-14) before taking over the wide receivers room in 2015 while serving as passing game coordinator. He was also Georgia’s recruiting coordinator the last two seasons and was the program’s interim head coach during the 2015 TaxSlayer Bowl win over Penn State."
  10. My thoughts are similar. It appears they have started recruiting though as offers are going out. I've only seen transfer portal and JUCO offers thus far. Seems tough to do both jobs, but he should have a staff back here doing most of the heavy lifting until the bowl game is over.
  11. Some info on the interest Mumpfield is receiving: https://rutgerswire.usatoday.com/2021/12/09/konata-mumpfield-discusses-leaving-akron-power-five-offers-coming-in-and-rutgers-interest/
  12. Can't forget Bowden having his JD and having x amount of years experience head coaching, but taking a GA position at Clemson to screw us over :).
  13. @akzipperneeds to be on payroll 😁
  14. New turf is actually probably a much bigger priority than some of this other stuff lol. It looks like crap.
  15. Agree completely on both comments. Irons has a lot of potential if he can take care of the ball, but bringing competition in is also important.
  16. Done my small part as well. Thanks for sharing.
  17. Doesn't appear so @Dr Z. I attempted to close and reopen browser as well. Charles Guthrie on Twitter: "It’s on!" / Twitter For what its worth, I've been able to copy links from Chrome, paste into Edge on Zipsnation and its worked fine. The issue appears to stem from copying the links out of Edge. As when I do that and paste into Chrome, it doesn't work either.
  18. At least he seems to know where the weaknesses are right off the bat!
  19. It is thursday at 10am.
  20. Just think...not only do we have a new coach and staff we're excited about, we're still going to have 32 new players in the next few months to make us hopeful as well!
  21. Per FootballScoop: Akron: Oregon offensive analyst David Gilbertson is joining Joe Moorhead at Akron as receivers coach, per source.
  22. His resume seems perfect to make the jump to coaching on this staff. These comments only get me more excited.
  23. well crap.
  24. Ali isn't that far off IMO.
