  1. Seems like a great way to handle it really. I have to say I am pretty bummed. Had planned on going down to FL for the game, but most of the group planning on going were unable to get off of work on such short notice so it fell through. I suppose I will have to make a special trip to Akron and watch the game where I watched the last bowl victory - The Score. Speaking of watching the game, has the U organized a watch party???
  2. Tempering my expectations and going 16-19. Would love to be wrong and us to get 20+, which is certainly possible as the team should gel better and you'd think the freshman would improve throughout the season.
  3. How the heck did Poke score 24 points. I'll take it!
  4. Make your freakin FTs Malcolm!
  5. IPFW seems to have a disproportional amount of white dudes on their team. They are the Wisconsin of Indiana.
  6. I just have to say I love a coach that takes timely timeouts and doesn't attempt to allow his players to "play through it". Lets get back under control.
  7. 3 of our commits this year also reportedly have offers to FAU. Current D1 (FBS) Offer list for each commit: Timothy Scippio - Akron, FAU Rich Hall - Akron, FAU Keyondre White - Akron, Army, BG, Buffalo, FAU, Illinois, Louisville, Minnesota, USF, Syracuse, UAB
  8. ^^I'm surprised you were able to get a picture of him without his shades on. But really, I do love his attitude/engagement. It is definitely noticeable. I hope he is utilized so that he can contribute in a big way next season.
  9. I'm not sure I would advertise that.
  10. I'm not sure how talented they are (outside of the RB) after only watching the C-USA Championship. The tempo of their offense is most definitely cause for concern. Late subs and getting set late have screwed us many a times this season. Similarly to Toledo (twice now), we can't get down multiple scores early. Let's hope the 3rd time is the charm. You play the game for a reason!
  11. Akron has not apparently shown any interest yet. http://www.medina-gazette.com/News/2017/12/04/Baughman-flooded-with-D-I-football-offers.html
  12. I don't have much of an opinion, but this may be a guy to keep an eye on. https://www.hudl.com/video/3/7464807/59cbcf633df5b835005bc30f
  13. Especially when you consider most of the likely candidates would have either been in Detroit or Huntington on Saturday. Well I guess just Detroit as there aren't any likely candidates on the basketball team now.
  14. I'm not sure I buy that, unless we have different definitions of what a super awesome bowl is.
  15. FAU fans seems a little full of themselves for them historically being one of the few programs about as bad as Akron in their D1 time. They are no Toledo. If I was an Akron fan i would LOVE having our bowl game be at home. I hope the coaching staff and players have the same attitude towards it as they do.
  16. I thought the same, but was looking this morning and it doesn't seem too cheap anymore. It looks like Allegiant pulled out of CAK?? Right now the cheapest option by far looks to be to fly into Fort Myers from CLE, rent a car, and then make the 2 hour drive to Boca Raton.
  17. Can't say I really know much about FAU outside of Lane, their record, their loss to Buffalo, and the fact that they seemingly have half of the Last Chance U players on their roster. I don't think the C-USA is too tough though...I would like to dig a little deeper before I go around predicting results. I doubt most of us have really watched them play, either.
  18. Came here to say something similar. The rest of the MAC is most definitely jealous of our bowl pick. The fact that it is a home game for FAU is a bummer, but I can't imagine a higher profile G5 vs G5 match up, mostly due in part to the Lane Train. Big opportunity here for us to go down to FAU and pick up a big win in our target recruiting area. Can we take advantage of it?
  19. LOVE IT!!

  21. The funny thing is that he is assuming that 16k is real and there were not tickets given away that weren't used.
  22. I don't know Kato personally, but I'm not sure bashing of him is warranted based on what we know or don't know. I don't see him posting or saying the things his father says. Unfortunately (and naturally) that is the perception you will get when his father acts as a mouth piece. My thoughts: I had a good time. Not too bad of a drive to Detroit at all and we are lucky to have the MAC Championship for football (and basketball) in short driving distance at such great facilities. I would consider going there annually even if the Zips aren't there. I've never really spent time in Detroit and it reminds me quite a bit of Cleveland. It was a nice atmosphere and felt.....like an actual real college football environment for once. I didn't hate the pregame party, but it most definitely was not worth $35 for a so-so breakfast buffet and cheers. I would not do it again. Regarding the game, I'll start with coaching. Can't say I'm too pleased with the offense or defensive coaching yesterday, more so the offense. I do not agree with benching Kato mid-way through the first quarter. The O wasn't effective (not all his fault), but its not like the game was getting away from us either at that point. Woody wasn't effective either. Yeah he had the TD call back but anyone on the roster should have been able to execute that play to a wide open TE. It was one of the most disappointing halves of offense I can recall during the Bowden era. What was it, 88 yards? Then I knew Gasser's kick was going to get blocked. I still am not sure he is better than O'leary, (even though that isn't saying much). I believe that is 3 straight weeks now where a kick has been blocked. Then we bench Tommy for Kato. That's something Hue Jackson would do and that isn't a compliment, even though it worked out. The whole QB carousel definitely did not cost us the game, though. The defense did a good job forcing turnovers, but it doesn't seem like any adjustments were made from game 1 to game 2. Maybe Toledo is just that good though (and they probably are). Just a ton of talent on offense and I think both of the Johnson WRs will be back next season. I did like how the team never gave up. It would have been the easy thing to do. Even though the game was over, we fought back, made it look respectable, and actually ended up beating the spread. Made some nice plays in the 4th. Kato took maybe one of the hardest hits I've ever seen a QB take. You could tell he was really hurting, but he looked able to go back in if the coaches want. Kelley led a nice drive as well. Even though we got spanked, great programs like Miami, Auburn, and TCU actually ended up losing by more than us yesterday. Funny thing is, Auburn spanked Georgia just a few weeks ago! It happens. Point is to hold off on the ridiculous knee jerk reactions that losing to by far the best team in the league has somehow undone everything that has happened the past month of the season. Progress was made this year. We obviously aren't striking gold overnight with the Bowden regime, but there is no question that the program is still trending upward under him. Let's regroup and get ready to go out and try and win this bowl game. I don't recall any serious injuries yesterday.Alvin's looked bad, but he went back in IIRC. I also hope our wait to go to Detroit again comes a lot sooner than the 12 years it was this time.
  23. Hustlebelt is catching on to Lavar Nelson. I feel for Kato.
  24. At least for this year, we've also offered their WR Nate Bauer who is committed to Toledo. They also have other guys going to high power 5 programs on the line. I'm not sure if any other are D-1 prospects this year, but I would guess so if I were a betting man. Outside of that, other players like their QB and RBs are all under classman I believe. They were up 42-14 on Winton Woods at the half. Seems they let up in the 2nd half. Makes me feel less bad about Barbeton getting spanked as it looks like Hoban is just that good. I would have liked to see them play for the D1 title just for the heck of it.
