You mean the MAC champion favorite beat them by more than us? The humanity! I didn't realize we were supposed to be contending for a title all of the sudden.
If it makes you feel better, WMU beat Cleveland State by a whole 1 more point than us.
We kind of got bailed out on that last foul call. The guy didn't really touch Sayles and it would have put them inbounding the ball from a very favorable spot on the court.
Don't know how good App State will end up being, but they brought their A game tonight. Well earned victory and an entertaining game to watch to boot.
Its just fun watching this team without expectations.5 true freshman contributing and only 3 players from last year (1 starter) if anyone forgot. Heck of a game by Duvivier. Big shots by Utomi. Ivey really seems to be finding himself. You are also already seeing some improvement out of Virshon and Kostelac. Huge improvement out of Poke, IMO. That can really make a difference this season if he can continue to be a threat inside. Cupcake next Saturday and then off to Hawaii for a chance of a big win or two. Go Zips!
8 games into the season and KD has the Dukes at the 5-3 mark. Zero wins against a team with a pulse yet, including losses to both very average inter-city rivals. He should win out the rest of the OOC, as it was literally filled with low-majors outside of Pitt, Robert Morris, and Cornell. I have a feeling he will be in for a rude awakening come conference play.
Seems like a great way to handle it really.
I have to say I am pretty bummed. Had planned on going down to FL for the game, but most of the group planning on going were unable to get off of work on such short notice so it fell through. I suppose I will have to make a special trip to Akron and watch the game where I watched the last bowl victory - The Score. Speaking of watching the game, has the U organized a watch party???
Tempering my expectations and going 16-19. Would love to be wrong and us to get 20+, which is certainly possible as the team should gel better and you'd think the freshman would improve throughout the season.
I just have to say I love a coach that takes timely timeouts and doesn't attempt to allow his players to "play through it". Lets get back under control.
3 of our commits this year also reportedly have offers to FAU.
Current D1 (FBS) Offer list for each commit:
Timothy Scippio - Akron, FAU
Rich Hall - Akron, FAU
Keyondre White - Akron, Army, BG, Buffalo, FAU, Illinois, Louisville, Minnesota, USF, Syracuse, UAB
^^I'm surprised you were able to get a picture of him without his shades on. But really, I do love his attitude/engagement. It is definitely noticeable. I hope he is utilized so that he can contribute in a big way next season.
I'm not sure how talented they are (outside of the RB) after only watching the C-USA Championship. The tempo of their offense is most definitely cause for concern. Late subs and getting set late have screwed us many a times this season. Similarly to Toledo (twice now), we can't get down multiple scores early. Let's hope the 3rd time is the charm.
You play the game for a reason!
Especially when you consider most of the likely candidates would have either been in Detroit or Huntington on Saturday. Well I guess just Detroit as there aren't any likely candidates on the basketball team now.
