  1. I personally haven't seen it myself from on the field play, but he has the measurables and athletic ability to warrant top program offers.I don't see it, but would happily take him.
  2. I have a similar story as kreed's as well. I took two of my friends Saturday who went to maybe one UA game a piece during their time in school. One had to lose a bet to me in order to go and the other has been gradually becoming more interested as I basically force it upon him. I think both enjoyed their time even though they lost and both would be open to attending again. Some exciting football was played Saturday. Even my father, who is a casual sports fan at best, texted me about how he saw the butt-whooping we gave Marshall. As has been stated on here before, there is no reason to get all worked up about attendance. Keep winning and people will take note. Each of us need to do our best to get other people to attend who might have been turned off during the RI years and show them that its different.
  3. I would agree in this case. I was buying my tickets and saw somebody in line who ran in the marathon claiming her free ticket.
  4. Teo is out for the year. I suspect much more playing time for Jatavis. Just stay healthy Hitman!
  5. Brown had a nice showing. The Chargers ended up losing though.
  6. Looking at the schedule at the beginning of the year, I think we would all be very pleased with coming out of OOC 2-2. If we went 1-3 I would feel that the program wasn't taking another step forward. The MAC East is looking like crap this year, I'll be disappointed if we don't win that. I'd also be thrilled with getting 1 of Toledo or WMU as they each appear to be the class of the conference this season. Agree on Lako. He made a nice play and would like to see him get more of a shot at our weakest position. Nice to see that Brown's injury wasn't too bad as he was playing. I know Marcus is battling a shoulder issue seemingly constantly, but would like him on the field more if possible. He is really our only playmaker on defense right now and he made zero big plays yesterday. App State is a good team, have to give them credit, but our defense still has a ways to go. Boxen being out hurt us. I didn't notice Hamilton at all yesterday. Maybe he played, but he didn't make a play. Seemed Williams and Copeland were in there the most. Lane was getting straight double teamed for the first time in his career (I believe). I know he was on the 2nd interception for sure, among other plays. Good learning experience for him, Woody, and the coaching staff I'd imagine. Good news is we start conference play against sorry Kent and Miami. Gives us even more time to work out kinks/improve/hopefully get healthy until we get into the meat of our conference schedule. Edit: As for the Bell topic, I absolutely believe he should be facing some sort of punishment. Now I don't think it should be severe over a scuffle with another guy. Maybe 1 or 2 games. You don't pay attention to other happenings in college sports if you think otherwise. There is no innocent until proven guilty. How many of the Baylor players have been proven guilty of rape? Was Tree ever charged with anything? What about the Brionte Dunn who BuckZip alluded too? I could go on and on. Right or wrong, it's a privilege to play collegiate sports, not a right.
  7. I don't really know much about NIU, but the pundits picking BGSU to walk away with the East this year was just lazy, IMO. Lost starting QB, top 2 WRs. One who is in the NFL, the other playing for the #1 team in the country. I think somebody else was kicked off as well? Starting RB gone. All great players. New, first time head coach who only has positional experience at the collegiate level. Doesnt shock me much at all that there is an apparent drop off, but a drop off of this level..yikes.
  8. Yeah, that Wisconsin loss isn't looking so bad now that you see what they did to Sparty @Sparty
  9. Don't know why I am even wasting time addressing anything related to the attendance discussion, but I would bet actual attendance will equal the announced attendance all season, as it clearly was for the VMI game. Last year was the inflated season to help meet attendance requirements for the rolling 2 year period. If you recall, the 2014 season was the year in which we had the worst attendance in the NCAA, where I am assuming actual attendance figures were used. The University gave (bought) all recent alumni season tickets last season, thus able to use the "paid" attendance number. I haven't heard of anything like that this season.
  10. The Browns recently cut Scooby Wright and then signed him to the practice squad. I believe I saw they are honoring his rookie contract and is still receiving ~$26,000 per week.
  11. Saw something today that the MAC has the 2nd highest G5 revenue. Only the AAC is higher, but nearly twice as high at around 1.5mil/team.
  12. Don't think it would have hurt Coach Bowden to go the way of PJ Fleck with OSU having a bye week. I suppose I'll take some flack, but one "gripe" I have is that I don't feel the program is marketed enough by him. Coach hasn't tweeted since March. http://www.mlive.com/broncos/index.ssf/2016/09/broncos_coach_invites_wolverin.html
  13. Well thats just great. And it happened clear back in May?!? Time to see what Junius can do I suppose.
  14. Might want to check your facts on that one. The Ravens have also been one of the best franchises in football since the move and have won multiple Super Bowls. I doubt they're too disappointed in it.
  15. Growing up in the Appalachian foothills of Southern Ohio, I've always pronounced it App-a-LAY-shun.
  16. MAC Conference. *drinks*
  17. I don't think its as clear cut as you guys are making. Kent sucks bad and Alabama couldnt be farther on the opposite end of the spectrum, but I wouldn't be surprised if Saban took it somewhat easy on his alma mater and kept it in the 40s.
  18. I watched the first half of the App State/Miami game last night. A few things I noticed... App State struggled with substitutions in the no huddle offense. We traditionally run a no huddle, though not really at a fast pace it seems. If we speed things up, we can catch them off guard. They like to keep LBs in the box. Not sure if this was a game plan explicit for Miami, but they had a lot of success on quick/bubble screens. I'm thinking Jojo Natson will have yet another big game. Their passing offense just didn't impress me much. QB is a decent runner though, capable of running the option. I think them losing their RB is a big loss. The back up isn't bad, but the starter looked just that good. The run a lot of different formations (as was pointed out earlier in the thread), but not a lot of different plays. Not sure how much that will be changed up now that it seems their stud is out.
  19. Not that its a huge difference, but its 500 something followers actually. Even if it only brings a hundred then I think its a success. Its a chance to get serious football fans interested in a program that plays decent football and is close to home. Also I am not sure if is something else that shows Bernie is "taking an interest"in the program, but I wouldn't call attending 1 game in which I am presuming he was invited by Larry Williams that. But if there is something I missed, then great!
  20. At first I was disagreeing with your post because college football is already like the wild west enough as it is IMO, but you did say something that I agree with at the end. If the P5 schools get all the money and the only real shot at playing for the national championship, then the G5 schools should be allowed to take on transfers without sitting out a year, similar to transferring from FBS - FCS. It will help level the playing field.
  21. Agree. Should get a better feel this week with the BYU/Toledo game.
  22. I assumed it was more of an exaggeration than anything, but GoZips lists attendance at 24k.
  23. Marcus Cox is their stud I believe. Has rushed for over 1000 yards every year in his career.
  24. pathetic, yet not surprised.
  25. I believe there was one camera angle from above that showed the ball coming loose. It was pretty close though, I think think it was confirmed, meaning the refs saw definitive evidence. Not really sure where Keener is coming from on his rant. I hope he just drank a little too much celebrating the victory.
