Nothing.

As down as we are with the season, this game just goes to show that we can absolutely win next week if the right team shows up and the right players are healthy. A bunch of ifs there, I know. We still have a chance to be bowl eligible and that isn't something we should take for granted. OU's win over Toledo was impressive, but they are far from world beaters.

Believe it or not, 1 loss Boise St has jumped WMU in this week's CFP rankings. Boise St's win over Wazzu is looking better by the week. If you're rooting for WMU (and the MAC), root for Wyoming unless they lose. They have two tough remaining conference games against SDSU and UNM to close out the season. If they slip up, you'll want to pull for presumably SDSU over Boise St in the MWC Championship game. I haven't personally confirmed this, but I have heard there is a caveat for the highest ranked G5 school. You must win your conference to get the New Year's day bowl bid and that is impossible for Boise if Wyoming wins out due to them owning the tiebreaker. Someone feel free to fact check the above

IIRC, Goodman is actually one of the lasts Ianello recruits and has played WR his whole career at UA. Per Gozips - As a Freshman (2012): Member of the Zips' 2011 signing class, but did not enroll at UA until January 2012 ... participated in spring practice ... played in nine games ... made 14 catches for 113 yards and two touchdowns ... one of seven receivers to have multiple TD receptions ... one scoring catch came in a win over Morgan State and versus Bowling Green ... had a season-best showing of three catches for 32 yards at FIU. Take a look at last year's OU and Pitt games to see the tailored offense around Chapman. It was some power running joke. Chapman had 14 carries and went 0/8 passing in the 1st half before being replaced by Pohl. Against Pitt, Chapman went 4-14 passing and had 10 rushes for -22 yards. That is not a typo. The only way to tailor an offense around him is to completely change the offense, which IMO, would be gross negligence based on past results and the current makeup of the team. We do not have the horses to be a predominately running team and have exceptional talent that should be utilized at WR. Chapman has showed he can be a capable backup, but obviously hasn't lived up to his high recruiting ranking.

That is...unless you're the Browns

A blow out loss to Buffalo and a multi score loss at home to BG. We are certainly playing like the worst team in the MAC and its not even close.

Is it too soon to start discussing Zips basketball?
LZIp replied to kreed5120's topic in Akron Zips Basketball
It would be very tough to find one. Really wouldn't mind seeing the ABJ get rid of him. -
I think it is good for the MAC based on the fact that Gameday is coming to a MAC school, but its much better in general for PJ Fleck and WMU. Would be better if it were WMU/Toledo. The fact that they are coming for Buffalo is just weird, but I'm not going to complain about it. I think I saw this is the first time Gameday has been at a MAC school since BG in 03(?).

Maybe I'm being weirdly sensitive today, but does anyone else find this kind of classless?

College Gameday is going to WMU for the big match up with 2-8 Buffalo. This is not a joke.

My thoughts echo a lot that has already been stated... Now I see why some are so adamant against playing YSU. This is embasrassing. Thankfully I won't have to hear about at-large bids or RPI this season. The play by play guy was super annoying. Seemed clearly in favor of YSU for whatever reason. Thought Hughes and obviously Dunn-Martin came in and looked the part. Antino needs to play better. Kwan seems to be back in love with the 3. Not really what the team needs considering everyone else on the floor. My biggest concern is lack of size. I think some combination of Eubanks/Aa Jackson/Utomi need to log serious minutes at the 3. We don't need much scoring out of them when everyone else is more than capable of scoring. Just hustle plays and defense. No more than 2 of Ivey/Tino/Noah/Dunn/Josh should be on the floor at the same time IMO. Its a super small lineup when 3 of them are out there considering Ivey is the only one I truly believe is at least 6 foot. One final concern...I think Tino and Noah shouldn't be on the court together if at all possible. Not a knock on either of them, but I just don't think they compliment each other well. I'd personally start Noah/Williams I think and use Tino as the 6th man. No shame in that. Just not sure Tino is being used most effectively as an off the ball guard. I'd like to see Noah more aggressive on offense as well rather than more of a facilitator. I remember how much promise he showed his freshman year.

what a damn joke!

Well it was intended for Smith

calling a big pass to Smith in Jojo's absence...

what the heck did Jojo do.........................

Will take a chill pill for a minute and say that I'm proud of how Goodman has played so far. That dude seems like he has been here forever and I hope he leads us to a comeback win. He deserves it.

How many times are we going to run the same running play in a row?! Also, while I'm on a roll.....S&C coach needs to be seriously evaluated. Injuries happen, but this extent seems well beyond normal, especially for key players.
-
Win or lose....I have LOST IT. No excuse whatsoever to be down like this to Bowling G.D. Green. Didn't get to turn it on until the end of the 2nd. What happened to Woody? Chapman? Thank the good Lord we have Jojo. One of the few players with real heart on this team. He will sorely be missed. We might be lucky if we don't make a bowl game. Will get blown out.

Why does everyone seem to forget that we already have Jamal Davis (Pitt), James King (Miami), and Tony Jones (Troy/Juco) - not sure if he is sitting out or not- waiting to step in at LB next season? I have no doubt the LB corps will be much improved next season. Bell moving to DE and being productive there would be nice as well to fill another hole.

Can watch Sampson and Woodridge this weekend at the Info vs Hoban! Akron East will be playing vs New Phili in Canal Fulton.

The entire offense except RB (with reason) is light years better from last season and its really not even close.
-
Good news from reading their board Zipsnation, they seem to have no running game and a weak secondary. This one looks winnable!!
-
Well...looking towards next year, that'd be a great thing. A bruiser RB will be a need once again.
