Coach Bowden must be the only responsible coach in all of college or professional football.The decision raises questions, and rightfully so. Our questions will be answered the BG game. I'm still willing to give coach the benefit of the doubt, but The "responsible" excuse cannot be used 3+ weeks after a player is cleared. Also note that coach has said nothing about not putting Pohl in the game because he wasn't ready, he stated its because it wouldn't have been "fair" to him.

If Woodson plays ahead of Pohl for this game without a valid reason, my support for Bowden will be about all but gone. I just cannot get over such a mind numbingly dumb decision. He is single handily costing us the season due to his own stubbornness if the situation is what it looks like.

To be clear, when Hirschman led us back last season, it was against James Madison. I thought he looked serviceable last season, though should not have played over Pohl. Hirschman is a forming starting QB at a FBS program (Colorado). While playing at Colorado isn't anything to write home about, I still feel like if we are trying to win games this season, he would be the better option to go to with his experience. None of this makes sense to me. If Woodson is better than Hirschman and the coaching staff thinks he gives us a better chance to win, then so be it. I still cannot rationalize why Woodson would be playing ahead of Pohl if Pohl is good to go. Nothing at all against Woodson, because I think he has the tools to have a bright future and has been giving it his all, but he just isn't ready yet. Its kind of unfair to him. Bowden shouldn't be playing for the future. He should be playing for this season. Getting this program to a bowl and a winning record is very important. We are more than capable of doing it THIS SEASON. Bowden has seen two samples of Woodson. One, he was forced to. The other, nobody really knows. It'll be very interesting to see who we goes with against BG...If he goes with Woodson, there is no way I can support the decision.

Actually Pohl seems like a bright enough kid to graduate in 4 years. Holding out a slim hope that there really is more to the story than we know. Because I'm pretty baffled by the situation as well. Bowden doesn't strike me as a guy with this big of an ego.

I know you enjoy hearing yourself talk and all, but you do realize if Pohl transfers and if he ever wants to play again, it has to be out of D1 right?

Remember this: winning 6 games isn't even a guarantee for anything. Hell, winning 7 games isn't a guarantee for crap, either. See Toledo last year. Even if we become bowl eligible, losing to crap teams is not good.

^im also assuming you had us beating Howard, EMU, and Miami as well..which means you had us at 4-4.

If Bowden isn't taking this season seriously, then I'm not going to waste my time on it.

I thought Woodson did not play very well, but he played well enough that the Zips should have won the game. The coaches left a potential 9 points on the board by not trusting our FG kicker who hasnt missed on the season. I have to guess we would have at least made one, probably two of them. I think TB/Milwee did not do a good enough job putting a redshirt freshman making his first ever start in a fair position to win a football game. Way too many throws for a dual threat QB. We are still building the program. Losses to teams we arent supposed to happen. You can look up my post and see that I've said I think we will lose one we aren't supposed to during this season. It happens. You dont go from a losing team to automatically beating every team that you should. The rest of the games are winnable. BGSU should be the only game left where the Zips might lose. Ball St, Buffalo, Can't St, and UMASS are all scrubs. 8-4 is still very much in reach. 7-5 at the very least. BGSU lost today. The MAC is still in reach, and will probably come down to the "blackout night" in November. Good effort, Woodson. You made some nice plays that Pohl can't make. With that said, I hope Pohl is ready to go next week.

sorry balzy, but i believe in accountability rather than official blaming. OU sucks. They beat Can't St with on a last second FG. They have a former walk on at QB. The Zips have had a lot of calls and luck so far go their way in the game. I'll blame the coaching. Woodson should have at least 4 interceptions (2-3 pick 6s) so far, but he doesnt. He has played well enough (though not good) to at least give the Zips the lead, but the coaches are taking chances like we have our starting QB in the game; not our Freshman back up. Take the damn points we can get. I personally am not banking on getting another TD all game. I'd like Woodson to stop staring down WRs and release the ball quicker. He is doing a good job avoiding sacks, but needs to do a lot better. One inconclusive call not going our way shouldn't be the reason we lose to this team.

Ohio looks like a bad team. Most of what they have gotten so far has been luck or due to our D playing out of control. I think I'll be really disappointed if we lose this game. I can see these guys losing to the Miami and UMASS's
