  1. these announcers are annoying. "Why would Robotham go to Akron over UNLV." "That first game after Treadwell, they had an emotion that put them over the top against USC." USC is not good and Akron is a good program. Do some research.
  2. 6 point dogs according to ZTV sports
  3. I dont feel bad for Can't at all. The game could have been played if their equipment truck would have ever made it. How does an equipment truck get lost? That game getting postponed screwed us as well. I'm sure a lot of players and coaches would prefer to be home with their families over Thanksgiving.
  4. I think he is counting the games where there will be eligibility earned by default next week (ex. Virginia and VT). But there are going to be enough bowl teams eligible (has there ever not?). I think its more important to pay attention to our tie-ins... Michigan lost to Maryland last night. They have to beat OSU to become bowl eligible. This is more good news for the Quick Lane bowl. Hopefully Miami comes through next week and beats Pitt. Where it gets iffy, is that its hard to find if for say, the Quick Lane bowls gets the #4 pick of an ACC team or the #10 pick of an ACC team. If they get the #10 pick, then good, they might not have a choice other than to pick a MAC team. However, if they pick higher, then they can just pick another ACC team.
  5. Primary: GoDaddy Idaho Potato Bahamas Boca Raton Camelia 3 back-up tie-ins Alternate: Quick-Lane bowl - Primary - B1G and ACC - ACC has 11 bowl and 9 programs eligible.8 assuming FSU makes the tournament. 3 programs still fighting for eligibility. Chances are one makes it, but possible none. I count 10 potential bowl tie-ins for the B1G. They currently have 9 eligible, with 1 more guaranteed(IL/NW), and potentially another in Michigan. OSU makes the tournament, that leaves 9 programs looking at 10 bowl games. If Michigan beats Maryland fill that last spot. Poinsettia Bowl - Navy vs MWC. Navy should be eligible, and I say below that MWC has enough program eligible. New Mexico Bowl- MWC and C-USA- 6 MWC ties ins.Currently 6 MWC bowl eligible programs. There are 5 C-USA bowl ties ins. There are currently 4 bowl-eligible programs. Marhshall will go to a BCS bowl. That leaves 3 programs.MTSU and UAB are fighting for eligibility. UAB has Southern Miss next week. MTSU still has FAU and UTEP. Chances are both of those become eligible to fill all 5 spots. Or St. Petersburg Bowl - AAC and ACC - I go over the AAC tie ins and eligible programs below. I count 11 ACC bowls. Currently 9 eligible ACC programs, and assuming FSU makes the tournament, they have currently have 8 programs to fill 11 bowls. Or Birmingham bowl - AAC and SEC. I count 5 AAC bowl tie-ins and 5 bowl eligible programs right now. I count 10 SEC bowl tie-ins. I count 10 current bowl eligible SEC programs. Assume one of them makes it to the tournament, that leaves 9 programs for 10 games, however Tenn, Kentucky, and Arkansas avoid becoming bowl eligible. Arkansas is winning 17-0 over Ole Miss at the moment. I spent way too much time looking at this today, but to me it seems we need to be paying close attention to the ACC. Specifically, Florida State, VT, Virginia, and Pitt. Root for Miami the next two weeks, root for FSU, and root for Virginia over VT. The QuickLane bowl looks like a possibility as an alternate game as well as the St Petersburg bowl. The Birmingham bowl could happen, but it seems unlikely, to me anyways, that Arkansas, Kentucky, and Tenn. finish the season without a win. That is, unless there is something really off with my methodology.
  6. I gave VT a "most likely yes" rating, but just saw they lost to putrid Wake Forest 6-3 in 2ot. Root for Virginia next week as they hopefully will lose to Miami tonight. That would be two more eliminated.
  7. So the MAC has 5 guaranteed bowl-bids with the potential of 7(stated on here). OU most likely beats Miami. They beat us, and have identical records, so I assume they would get a bid ahead of us. Anyone know what needs to happen to get the secondary tie-ins?
  8. Thanks. I was searching before I made the post and somehow missed it.... So, with current results and more-likely-than-not predictions, we are looking at 17 teams fighting for 6 spots. Not good.
  9. From everything I've read they are looking to play the game sometime. If you know something nobody else does, please share.
  10. made a little spreadsheet that should have the most up to date results. but I guess I cant paste a table nor insert one. By my count, there are currently 23 teams (incl Buffalo) fighting for 9 spots. SDSU, WKU, and South Carolina have clinched. Stanford or Cal is guaranteed. The winner of Illinois/Northwestern is guaranteed, and the loser is eliminated. I also have Florida (against EKU), VT (against Wake and Virginia), and Navy (south Al. and Army) as "most likely yes". I have Ok St against Baylor and Oklahoma "most likely not" as well against Kentucky (vs. Louisville). Looking ahead with these conservative predictions thrown in, we are looking at 18 teams fight for 6 spots.
  11. "Although Can't State has long been ineligible for postseason play, the Bulls sit two wins shy of bowl eligibility with two games left on the schedule. If Buffalo wins its final two games, it can go to a bowl game and fill a bowl spot for the MAC." "(NOTE: Buffalo has two wins over FCS teams, so the normal protocol would be for Buffalo to win seven games to become bowl eligible. However, at six wins Buffalo could apply for a waiver and hope it is approved to play in a bowl game)" http://collegefootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/11/19/maction-given-a-snow-day-as-weather-postpones-buffalo-Can't-state/related/
  12. The game isn't being played at all? And why can't Buffalo make a bowl?
  13. We are the 6th best team AT BEST. Assuming Buffalo beats Can't and Mass, and Ohio beats Miami, that puts us at 8th.
  14. Never really followed them after our games last season, but I see they finished 2nd to last in the extremely weak SEC last season. So far, they are 2-2 this season with losses to Charlotte and Baylor, and wins over Cornell and North Florida.
  15. I dont think I agree much with this post. Miami is just over one season removed from winning the ACC. USC finished dead last in the PAC 12 last season and 9th two seasons ago. Beating Miami would have been nice (expectations aren't high, but they have talent), but I don't think we should get blown out like that to anyone. I also think they will win this tournament and go dancing. Like I said last night, I expect growing pains. Really looking forward to Robotham and Antino Jackson the next 4 years. We have to keep the youth of the team without Tree in perspective (myself included).
  16. Was thinking the same thing myself.
  17. well that escalated quickly
  18. sloppy start to the 2nd half
  19. I think you may have just set a new record for bringing up RPI and SOS two games into the season. Per Dr. Z's link. The spread seems to be between 8.5-9.
  20. Interesting stat. Thanks for sharing. I wonder how many times he has had the chance to beat a team as a 7 point or greater underdog? My bet would be very few in the 5 years I've been following given our conference and typical OOC schedule. Hope everyone who made the trip is enjoying themselves
  21. Interesting topic and some great discussion so far.On the face, I am totally against it for obvious reasons, but am willing to listen since LA Zips fan obviously knows some things about this. I guess some initial questions would be very similar to what tboned had in his post above mine. Logistics, resources, who would make out better, ulterior motives, etc seem like all tough issues to tackle. As well as, has it ever been done before in say...the past 30 years? Seems both Universities are way past the point of no return with what they have invested. I come from a small high school who had one of the oldest buildings in the state when I attended. There was constant threat or consolidation, and it made sense. Closing an old building that should have been closed decades ago and building one new building is a pretty easy transition. Merging two campuses with 20k+ enrollment each seems near impossible.
  22. Reading some, it seems Miami fans are thinking a lot like I do of Akron. A young team, but talented team, where you should expect some ups and downs.
  23. Opportunity knocking for probably our best win all season, can the inexperienced, yet talented Zips answer?
  24. I dont think USC is very good at all, but it was great to see us beat a major program like that. It was nice to see Kwan, PGs (Robo and Jackson), AND FORSYTHE have great games. I have a weird, but good feeling about this team. I like the athleticism and character. I've ripped KD in the past for the quality of character the young gentleman he brings into the program possess, but I have a different feeling about these guys. We may have some downs the season, as expected from a young team, but I have little doubt that we will reach that 21 win mark. A chance for a quality win against Miami tomorrow. They were picked in the lower half of the ACC, but I think they can finish in the upper 3rd with Angel Rodriguez. They also have another nice player who is slipping my mind right now out with an injury and had a great win against Florida. If we can contain Rod, I think we have a chance to win. I dont know if we have a guard defender like that, but I guess we will see! Go Zips! Officially excited for the season again after watching this game.
  25. Keep dreaming about that 6-6 bowl invite GP1. The only way it happens is if the conference lucks out and get 7 bids instead of the guaranteed 5.
