  1. Its clear you aren't well versed on international soccer.
  2. Im not sure how relevant that point even is, Spin. Does Akron have a large enough supportive alumni base to even make a serious dent in soliciting donations for the arena? If we have a few large donors who want to donate towards a new arena, what is stopping them from donating a large sum and specifying the use for it? I don't remember the exact details, but I believe there was a similar situation not too long ago with a donor for the business school. He set aside a large donation in order for the business school to be named after him. The U wouldn't meet the specifications for whatever reason, and the donor withdrew the donation.
  3. just because the University didn't release it doesn't mean its a well kept secret http://www.tallahassee.com/story/sports/college/fsu/football/2014/08/01/jim-henry-column-stroud-undergoing-stem-cell-treatment/13480109/ Prayers for Coach Stroud. sidenote: not shocked the Tallahassee paper a whole 1000 miles away would have the scoop befoe the ABJ.
  4. no. i see him being back on the Buckeyes.
  5. I went to the scrimmage today, and the atmosphere was everything I hope Akron football can be one day. Vine St packed with pre-game activities, the band marching through the crowd, people waiting in line an hour before start. All standing room packed. Top section of the bleachers were only half way full, probably because of so many people standing. But I might cry if an Akron game is ever like that.
  6. that's a different way to look at it. Who are some potential suitors he could convince?
  7. big "limb" you went out on I heard Gallon for BG is out for the season. Anything helps.
  8. Not surprised about Turner. Sucks for Moore.
  9. Lebron has a goal of being the first billionaire athlete. I don't see him donating a large sum to fund a new arena.
  10. The way I read it, there are 5 currently on the roster + 3 new ones.
  11. I had a class in the JAR once.
  12. sheesh. I didn't realize you were that old.
  13. Canton McKinley there boss, but your point still stands.
  14. How is the Rivals Professional football league doing?
  15. The only memory I have of intramural futsul (aside from getting whooped on by a bunch of foreigners), is attempting to play D and getting busted dead center in the face by a kick point blank in front of me. Those balls are hard! Face was numb for about 15 minutes.
  16. as long as it isn't all yinz.
  17. Less wasting time at the rec doing nothing + more studying = improvement upon our dismal graduation rates. Boom. Nominate me for next President of the U.
  18. Court space is very tough to come by in the evenings/nights. Seems like a minimum of two are always shut down for intramurals or whatever the special event is that night (futsal, badminton, etc). Waiting an hour+ to play a 15 minute game isn't a good investment of student time.
  19. Just keep in mind who it is coming from, Balsy. GP1 takes any and every opportunity to knock the "building process". I guess it's impossible to pay bills if you are in the red......I have like a -50k net worth, but I have no problem paying bills every month. And um, people are forgetting UA is already paying "operating expenses" for the JAR. The way I see it, a new arena minus a fully used JAR would only equal a little more than the current expenses. And it's well known that Spin is against anything that can't be used for hockey as well. Not saying I agree or disagree, I personally don't care much and it would probably be better to have flexibility, but the agenda is well known.
  20. FWIW, Marshall was picked to win the C-USA East today.
  21. I know a guy who works for a firm responsible for putting on the political conventions. He says it'll bring an easy 400 million + to the city in a week. I'll take his word over a cynic like yours. So you're trying to say the same amount of people went out to bars and watched Cavs games when they had Lebron as opposed to without Lebron and one of the worst teams in the league? Makes zero sense. I heard a bar manager saying they went from having 20+ staff on game nights with Lebron to only 7 without him. Very minimal economic impact..right.
  22. This front 7 should be insane.
  23. wut? Please tell me who have a little thicker skin than I think and aren't offended by his tweet.
  24. 95% of Cleveland/NE Ohio media are a complete joke.I think that is something we can all agree on. The only guy that is worth his paycheck is Jason LLoyd, IMO.
  25. You couldn't have said it better Balsy. Lebron admitted he messed up, Gilbert admitted he messed up. It's time to put the past in the past and leave it there. Sad people hold grudges. Lebron's letter shows how much he has grown up. Also, some of you need to drop this little brother syndrome. Akron, Cleveland, who gives a damn, we are all apart of the same community and are stronger if we embrace it, Northeast Ohio. edit: I also love how he basically gave the big 'ol F U to ESPN by giving the story to an SI guy.
