This is Quentin Hines' league I am assuming? Suel needs to make the smart decision and go to the AFL or CFL where he can make it and have some career stability.

should we compare the revenue that the football team brings in compared to the the women's basketball team? I don't think it's that hard to understand, really. I enjoy the women's basketball team and the job Coach Kest has done, but give me a break on the football bashing. There is a reason football is king. Do we want to compare the importance of football to say...Women's Tennis, Baseball, or Rifle? There is most definitely a distinction of importance. I wonder why Maryland didn't cut football instead of those 13 other sports before joining the B1G?

what is with the CSU to Akron pipeline?

Not sure if the powers that be are already aware, but I thought I would point out that the board has been running extremely slow for me the past few days. Many times, the page will not even load. I have tried to access on multiple internet connections, devices, and different browsers, therefore I do not believe the problem is on my end. Thanks.

Throwing money around for a women's basketball program is not a viable option for about every school in the NCAA excluding say 4 or 5.

Since there seems to be a wide range of opinion regarding the spring game, I suppose I'll inject my 2 cents to the conversation. I'll start off with the hot topic. Pohl looked FINE. I don't recall any bad decisions. I would have liked him to check down less and take a few more shots, but its a friggin' spring scrimmage. Pohl played like a starter knowing he has the job. Hirschman played like someone looking for playing time (and wasn't impressive). Woodson looked intriguing. No idea what some are talking about, but it was nice to see him scramble and hit some guys. I don't recall him missing any throws he should have made. You can tell Kincade has a ton of potential. Hoyer did fine for his first ever D-1 experience. Not sure what some were expecting of him. I was surprised Hundley started with the first team. I would have liked to see Jones get some more touches. Chisholm still looks like the starter, though. WRs. Thought Pratt impressed the most of the first team. The kid from Lebanon (name slipping mind) had a nice catch or two. MTB continues to disappoint with all of the hype. I'd like to see less talk and more "walk" out of him. Others didn't do much, but I'm not going to overreact because it was a spring scrimmage. I also tried to pay attention to the O-line and thought they looked pretty solid, at least their pass blocking. As for defense..I have to be impressed. We know we may have the best group of LBs in the MAC. Capi played with a little bit of an "edge" that I didn't see from him last season. Okafor probably had the biggest day of the d-line, maybe even the whole defense. I realize it was against the 2nd team O. Pittman had class I heard. Wish I could have seen him. Is Jamel Turner still on the team?! I have to say I was also very impressed with the D-backs. I was expecting a let down from losing Freeman, among others, but what I saw was tight coverage and no big mistakes all scrimmage. Paul shanked a couple punts, but I'm not concerned and Stein still cant hit a 30 yard FG consistently. I'm pretty damn pumped for the fall. Go Zips!!

^^ You shouldn't be shocked. Myself and a few others have told you it's going to happen months ago.

The Senator named one of three finalists. Other candidates nothing that catch you're eye. http://ow.ly/w2LTT

I'd say the chances are more likely than not.

This. Its a good test of the theory many have had on this site when discussing our own program and how to take it to the next level. -
congrats HT.

Possible 2014 commit: PG Antino Jackson
LZIp replied to ZachTheZip's topic in Akron Zips Basketball Recruiting
^^ I'll buy if he becomes "good" We know Zeke's stance, I wonder what BJ Gladden's is, considering he was a very nice recruit for us. -
Don't be shocked to hear another QB will be brought in during the summer to push Pohl.

I heard VFWs have good deals on alcohol.

Scuffling seems pretty normal to me. Love that the guys are competing.

I saw an equally dumb caller last night right before the Tribe pregame. He suggested trading Kyrie because we are playing "great" without him. Drennan just hung up lol. But Drennan is still an annoying loud mouth.

^^Disagree. Though, that is something that would need to happen when the timing presents itself. The first thing that needs done is for the members of the conference give the leadership a reason for more marketing.

Archie Miller on the run "we've rejuvenated the fan base, and changed the program forever." We need a tourney run so bad.

I think they will definitely have their opportunities. I'd like to see us play more small ball next season, meaning no Forsythe and Tree/Big Dog splitting time at the 5. PG, IMO, should be up for grabs. Maybe Jackson can be a combo guard at the point. He definitely seems to have the athleticism and the "motor" (huge fan of that). Hopefully he is a true opportunist and noticed we have a gaping hole at PG and worked on his handles a ton. Deji/McAdams should have the 2 on lockdown. Gladden has the opportunity to start at the 3, or at the very least back up Harney. I think Kretz and Cheatham should take the stretch 4 duties. We need all the shooting power we can get to unclog the paint for Tree. The way I see it, we are about the same team next year if a PG doesn't step up. Melo has stretches where he plays pretty well, but I just don't think his style is a good fit for what the team needs offensively. We either need a big jump from Evans or Jackson to take everyone by surprise if we want to take back the MAC.

Yeah it looks slightly placed out of center towards the back.
-
Sad to hear, but I've never heard of him.
-
We might as well get used to the Shaka rumors every season. Wish people wouldn't jump the gun so quick, though, as it's apparent it is going to take a lot for him to leave VCU. I mean he turned down UCLA, it will probably take an NBA offer like the Butler coach to lure him away.

nice catch B&G. It was only a matter of time before something leaked. I like it..a lot. Say what you want about uniqueness, but what would be unique? The zipper would be cool, but very minor in the grand scheme of the helmet.

I've never heard of college athletes having to foot the bill for their medical expenses during their time as a student athlete. I have heard people confirm the school covers it, however. My guess is that IF it happenes (and Im sure it does, rarely) it's due to complicated circumstances. Here is a somewhat lengthy article that says pretty much what I'm saying. http://www.al.com/sports/index.ssf/2012/02/college_athletes_rights_ncaa_r.html There appears to be some cases where part of the bill wasn't completely paid and had some hidden expenses (just like every other health plan). In 2011, Alabama spent 2 million in medical bills for it's student athletes. Like I said, there are extreme cases, but I would figure an athlete/their family should do a little due diligence when selecting a school to see if they have had any cases of screwing the athletes in the past.
