  1. so did he accept that position as a video coordinator for the Lions yet?
  2. I think Quincy Diggs was the perfect example of a player who "wanted" to come back, especially after being screwed over. Could not be happier for him. Not sure I buy into the other guy "wanting" to come back, but rather maybe "wishing". Also, two words: plea deal.
  3. Have we not heard the reasons for suspensions in the past? Anyways, it appears I've ruffled a lot of feathers for bringing a dose of reality to this thread.. Have been told to stop rooting for the basketball team, called a "vigilante", an "internet warrior" and whatever else. Enjoy Zipsnation. Recent trends suggest that I will see you all in a similar thread next season. Hopefully Harney realizes what he could be throwing away and who he is letting down.
  4. The other guy was brought up because of the comment of how much "tougher" KD supposedly is compared to the rest of the country. Of course I care about the players as human beings, but at some point you have to draw the line somewhere.I feel KD's line is drawn when he is left with no other choice. I also care about the reputation of the Men's basketball program as well as the University. How many chances does he need? I'm probably a little more connected than you may think. I am a recent graduate and Akron really isn't very big. If you don't commute, everybody pretty much knows everybody and everybody goes out to the same places.I do not understand the logic that Harney's personal issues give him a pass to mess up over and over again. There is a reason everybody is hush-hush about this, and it's because they don't want the public to know. Why? I'll let you think about that.
  5. His website says he accepted a preferred walk-on offer to Arkon, so I'd assume yes.
  6. I don't care about other programs. I care about my program. You know the guy who was kicked off of the team for trafficking marijuana last season? You know..the same guy who some on this board say is on track to be back on the team next season? I saw him out last night and let's just say it doesn't look like he has learned much. *This statement is not meant to imply Abreu is still trafficking marijuana, just that I don't think he is handling himself the way he should if he really wanted to change the public's perception of him and get back on the team* I have a highly educated guess what Harney's suspension for, a new member even hinted at it. He needs to grow up and get his priorities in order.
  7. BYU kicks players off the team for having sex. Have to believe Akron is a little more lenient.
  8. You, nor I, know the reason Harney was suspended INDEFINITELY (key word here). Lets not try to group an indefinite suspension as "any and all suspensions". Really a reach. I highly doubt this came from him skipping a class. I follow plenty of college sports. Of the teams I follow, Zips men's basketball is near the top in terms distractions, and it certainly affects the team. Now I'm prepared for you to bring your "when I was a kid I certainly was no saint" defense. Harney has been in college for 4 years now and has had the opportunity to go to school for free and has the opportunity to play professional ball somewhere. Hardly the same circumstances you were in when you were in college I reckon. He should get his act together before he throws the opportunity away.
  9. I think Keith should worry about problems he can control. Like the poor play of his team.
  10. Read this is the 3rd time Harney has been suspended during his career here. Now that I think of it, every season since my first year at Akron there has been some distraction with a player that has affected the team negatively. I'm seeing a pattern here folks. Take your blue and gold glasses off and stop being an apologist. We love to talk smack about the reputation of that program a few miles east of us, well I say we are no better.
  11. truth. appears everybody is being hush hush about it, so i'll keep the opinion to myself.
  12. Finally had a chance to read up on all the signing day activity. I have to say I am pretty pleased with the class.
  13. Love it love it love it. Save the uninformed/naive kids from going to college to go 50k+ in debt only to get a job at Best Buy upon graduation.
  14. in case anyone didn't notice, Mounds is the former coach of current commit Kris Givens.
  15. Give me the 'hawks with Manning throwing a game clinching Int, probably to Sherman.
  16. hear the guy has been hired for a while now. Not sure why there has been no press release on it..
  17. Elton is an idiot, but I wouldn't mind at all for trading OU's success the past 5 years for ours.
  18. complaining about them not getting a technical at the end of the game is a lame way to try to place the blame on others rather than take it for ourselves. That Can't team is the worst (by far) I've seen in my 5 seasons following the rivalry. We laid the egg.
  19. The student attendance record was broke multiple times last season. Give it a rest.
  20. I'm trying to figure out which university you work for. It sure isn't ONU and more than likely isn't Findlay unless your numbers are way off.
  21. I've noticed that I am starting to agree with GP1's post a lot more lately. Not sure how I feel about this.
  22. Great read. Love seeing articles like this. Nice article, Marla.
  23. bunch of sour grapes on this thread. Its nothing new. Thank Buckley for what he did for us. Heard from a very reliable source that Arrington and him were our best recruiters.
  24. bold 1- if that is really going to be the determining variable as to whether or not Abreu is brought back, then I will have trouble supporting the people who run this program. We would be seen a joke all across the country, especially the MAC. bold2- very interesting statement. One that I very much agree with. I wonder where many corporations today would be if they stuck to the same paradigm that got them off of the ground and never took risks to improve revenue and profitability. That statement is one that I think can apply to much more than the players if the program ever wants to take another leap.
  25. I wouldn't call it laying an egg. Toledo is damn good and we aren't that good. Toledo hung with Kansas the whole game @ Kansas. I saw somebody said that the Zips weren't ready/underestimated Toledo. Enough with the excuses. Anyone who follows the MAC knew Toledo would be a serious contender to win the conference this season.
