  1. Thanks for the info. Didn't realize how far back it went. It appears I did downplay the exent of the relationship. However, I still believe that myself, you, or about 99% of the people on this forum could have coached Lebron to the NBA. (That doesn't mean we are great coaches or that KD is a bad coach). What I'm trying to say is using Lebron to make a point for KD makes as much sense to me as using the development of a walk-on as a point against KD. Let's use some more relevant data, not the extreme outliers.
  2. lol. I have to say KD played a very small role in the development of Lebron. He coached him..one or two seasons? And lets not act like Lebron isn't a natural beast.
  3. lets change the slogan to "Think like Dayton"
  4. I'm confused as to why we are supposed to care what some random professor in California thinks and why we should value their opinion. He obviously is an introvert weirdo (like 75% of college professors) if he has no clue who Tressel is .ie- didn't know the "inside story".
  5. Holmes couldn't be more on the money. Why wasn't there any media coverage from ABJ? Would be interested in hearing the participants/how things went. edit: as soon as I'm done typing this, I see an article by Stephanie Storm come up on my twitter. it's still pretty broad. http://www.ohio.com/sports/zips/zips-put-talents-on-display-for-nfl-scouts-1.475314#.Uyz-vQfq-Zs.twitter
  6. Not going to get into this too much, because people have opinions/agendas that aren't going to change no matter the points that are brought up, but why do you have to have "education experience" to be a successful President? To me, being a President has more to do with leadership qualities than anything. BTW Balzy- when reading you explain the Purdue situation, I couldn't help of think of our very own University. As for the funding, not going to buy that we will lose out to OSU everytime. We would have the guy nicknamed "The Senator" running things and people aren't going to ignore him. The Cleveland-Akron-Canton area is the most populated in the state. The public universities in the region will not be ignored. Start with concentrating on being the dominate one in the region (maybe already are) and go from there. It's not like UA is some podunk school with 3k enrollment. We have the numbers that warrant attention and have potential.
  7. The thing about joining better conferences is we actually have to have something that attracts the other conferences. What conference are you thinking of? The A-10 for basketball only? We'd go .500..maybe worse. The Horizon? Lateral. You can throw out any of the Big 5. Moving to another mid-major in all sports all together like the C-USA isn't worth it. Let's start with worrying about improving ourselves and the rest will take care of itself. A simple answer of just "swiching to a better conference" with the assumed notion it's going to somehow elevate us to national relevance just doesn't add up to me.
  8. what about BYU, Boise, Utah, San Diego St, Memphis (excluding the past few years of football), hell..even OU. What is the excuse not to have any combination of success in both sports that those mid-majors have had?
  9. So a team we beat (was it by double digits)? Last year in the Bracketbusters is now about to knockoff 5 seed Oklahoma. They play in the crap Summit league (the same league as IPFW). I just don't understand why we are not able to take the next step....
  10. Tree comes to mind, though he may be the exception. My opinion tends to lean to put most of the blame on KD. The players are at fault to an extent, but it is his job to develop, motivate, and bring the talent he has assembled to play together as a team. Someone's player development I'm really disappointed in is Harney's. I just see so much potential in him, but he lets me down every season. He did win us a pretty big game playing out of position at PG though, so I'll give him credit for that.
  11. I bet Balzy is loving the 37 second week recap. I don't think it's a Bowden issue. Dude seems to love to talk. Seems like its the editors cutting him out mid way.
  12. remember when we were excited about him? Yikes.
  13. Well that was downright pathetic. No polite way to put it. No excuse to lose to a team 99% of us have never heard of. They aren't any better than a mid-level MAC team. I have trouble believing we were ready to play this game with that defensive effort. Seemed like they got almost every loose ball as well. Hate to see Q go out with a disappointing loss. Good luck to him in whatever he decides to pursue. This season would have been a lot uglier without him. Bring on football season.
  14. IPFW fans look legitimately happy to be there.
  15. Cant wait!
  16. Good observation. I would LOVE being sponsored by Under Armour. Adidas just feels so second tier when you are talking about anything besides the other "football"
  17. Nice. Sconiers remaining will be a nice addition to the recieving corps (assuming he can retain old form) in helping out whoever the QB may be. Also, how did I miss that Brian Hoyer's brother is on the team? Unless the news never broke.
  18. I believe this is IPFW's (who?) first ever post season appearance.
  19. When has it been proven they were cheaters before? When the MAC was protecting their "crown jewel" in BG at the senior day game? Well, they did a poor job at protecting them when Ball St knocked them off in the tourney.
  20. I've never ONCE said or even implied I knew anything about Abreu breaking any types of laws that authorities aren't already aware of. I'd appreciate it if my posts weren't continually taken out of context.Thanks.
  21. Don't know why you continue to tell me what I do or do not know. You have no idea what I do or do not know. I have no reason to make baseless statements.
  22. Math not your strongsuit?
  23. Balsy is the man. I think you are missing the Aussie punter we signed later in the offseason last year. Should be a RS freshman (assuming he is still with the team).
  24. So this is your reasoning for wanting him back? Look, I would love the basketball player Alex Abreu back as well. I didn't realize how valuable he was to the team until after he was gone. But im not about to put my morals aside to have increase our chances at winning. I care about the perception of our program. I think it is the coach's job to adjust and bring in/develop the talent he has recruited to makeup for the loss. As Quickzips said, people deserve second chances, but at some point you have to draw the line. If how Abreu has handled the situation was the same way Quincy handled his situation, I think I would be willing to accept him back..but unfortunately, I do not believe he has really learned his lesson. I truly wish Abreu the best of luck in whatever he does for the rest of his life, I just hope his time is done in a Zips uniform.
  25. You couldn't have said it any better.
