  1. Thought so. I'll chalk this one up under the assumption that DiG got into a little too much spiked egg nog tonight
  2. Ok..I have to admit I am pretty confused. We should be playing South Carolina. Logic should dictate that it will be Boise vs ISU in the championship and South Carolina vs Akron for 3rd place.
  3. Iowa St. is a damn good team. A lot better than I had figured, honestly. However, same old song and dance. I just want this program to have a nationally recognized win for once... It seems that we can hang with these good teams for a half (the ones we aren't supposed to beat) and then run out of gas in the 2nd half every time. I think I saw a stat we only shot 6 FTs?! I have to give special credit to Quincy and even Harney. Quincy hustled all over the floor. I also saw a lot more hustle and effort out of Harney than usual. I don't know if his stat line reflected it, but I thought he made some plays that do not necessarily show up in the stats. You could tell that Tree was absolutely dead in the 2nd half. I can't point out anybody for really having a bad game, just as a team we did not play well. Boxing out, transition defense, ball movement, and leaving that one guy wide open for all of those 3s. Let's win tomorrow. I'd rather face Boise than USCe. I think Oregon St has a chance to be a quality win once they get Moreland back.
  4. lol...LOL. Let's win this damn tourney.
  5. DeAndre Kane (Marshall transfer) is the guy I think we need to worry about the most. Should be a very interesting match up between him and Q.
  6. Reggie has been starting at the 3 at least the past 3 games, right? Didn't get to watch the game, but listened on 1350. Sounds like the Zips played their best game of the year so far. Also noticed this: Evans started and we got off to a hot start. Completely satisfied with the rotation tonight, even with the foul trouble. Let's beat ISU!
  7. Decided to check out Oregon St's games so far. They really haven't beaten anyone besides Maryland (7-4). Other wins come over Portland, SIU-Edwardsville, Arkansas Pine Bluff, Maryland- Eastern Shore, and Towson. They have a season opening loss to Coppin St (yes the Coppin St we beat by 28 last season). Coppin St is 4-5. They were without Devon Collier for that game and will be without Eric Moreland for our game. Moreland appears to be pretty decent as he basically averaged a double-double last season. They also lost to Depaul.
  8. I've never really noticed Kretzer on defense. That could be good and bad. I didn't really notice him on Howard much Wednesday, but I did notice Q and Tree on him. I'll be sure to pay attention to Kretzer against Oregon St on D. I think Harney has to be mentioned as one of our best defenders. Wasn't he one of the guys along with Tree who shut down Cooper last season?
  9. Betancourt, duh
  10. Must have forgot to turn my sarcasm font on
  11. One thing is for sure...the Packers sure have a great O-line and and defense.
  12. Browns: 8th in total defense. 9th in pass defense, 8th in rush defense. They are better in two of those categories than Pittsburgh and 1 spot behind in passing D. Obviously PPG doesn't support that, but factors come into play such as turnovers, time on the field, etc to make that worse. Horton will get a head coaching gig sooner rather than later.
  13. Kris Givens. NEO Sports ‏@SportingNEO https://twitter.com/SportingNEO/status/413719285647675392 Holmes CC Cornerback, Kris Givens (@therealKrisGiv) has signed his LOI to play for @ZipsFB Jared Shanker ‏@JShankerESPN https://twitter.com/JShankerESPN/status/413349893542281216 Juco CB Kris Givens signs with Akron I can't find any scout, rivals, or even an ESPN profile on him, but HERE is his Hudl highlight video. Looks pretty impressive to me. You'll just have to take my word that we beat out NIU for him since there seems to be no public info on that.
  14. Betancourt doesn't give us depth. I understand many people have been against Deji for multiple seasons, even called for him to transfer on many occassions, but he has shown that he can provide value to the team. He isn't in the main rotation now, nor should he be, but he deserves to get his time a game. He sucks at FT shooting...so does the vast majority of our team. Look at the overall %. Not good. edit: also- Im sure if McAdams was the ball handler everyone thought he could be, he would be getting more minutes at the two (even 1) rather than almost exclusively at the 3.
  15. The Steelers offensive line is good for the opponents. That's about it haha.
  16. The Browns have a great defense and a pretty solid O-Line. The O-line looked horrid when Weeden was in there, but only because he was as mobile and had as goof of pocket presence at my Grandma. Most units on the team are good. Secondary..Skrine played a lot better this year, as did Ward. Gipson makes plays as well and Joe Haden speaks for himself. LB....They need an upgrade on the inside next to Jackson. DL- studs. OL- I'm satisfied with, but could use an upgrade on the right side. WRs are alright. RBs and QB needs upgraded. The hardest problem to fix out of all of that is the QB. Get the QB.
  17. I wonder if the Colts had other holes to fill when they were 1-15 and took Andrew Luck.
  18. I'm sure Kwan knows.
  19. I know this isn't much help because I forget the name (damn alcohol), but I was told a JUCO DB from Mississippi signed his LOI to play for the Zips today. NIU was one of the schools we beat out.
  20. unrelated, but I think it is worth mentioning...the QB at Eastern Illinois has shattered all of Tony Romo's record this season.
  21. I hope KD finally decides to get rid of starting Melo. Him only playing 3 minutes is a good thing, but starting him for who knows what reason really hurts the team by getting off to a slow start. I remember at least two turnovers by him in the first 3 possessions. They have no chance to get into any groove with him. Evans and Q need to be the only ball handlers. I'm OK with Deji getting the start because he has shown that he can at least contribute in one way or another. I was pleased with Tree's play as well as Quincy's. I feel Quincy really was that "floor general" that we need towards the end of the game. Kretzer was huge in the second half and Evans hit some shots as well. Pat didn't do much on offense, but I was pleased with his defense and rebounding. Pleased with the win even though it looked ugly for a half. Not pleased with the FT shooting of basically everyone outside of Tree and Quincy. Enough tinkering with the lineups, KD. Stick with what you have seen will work and lets get some wins in Hawaii.
  22. I would hardly consider the PAC 12 a "real" conference. There are mid-major conferences who receive more bids than them. I think it was two years ago where they were only a 1 bid conference until that team was upset in the conference tourney.
  23. Congrats to Quincy. Anyone know what he majored in?
  24. That's interesting. I was on Walterfootball not even three weeks ago looking to see where they had QBs ranked, and Bortles wasn't even listed in the top 30 or whatever it is they do.Link here I'm not saying I wouldn't be favorable of taking Bortles (IMO, its a crap shoot after Teddy), just that all of the love seems to be coming out of nowhere. A WR that just awes me with some amazing catch every game I watch is Kelvin Benjamin (RSoph) out of FSU.
  25. I'm aware. I assumed the author was insinuating it wasn't "OK" to do that now due to fan backlash.
