  1. Didn't want to create a thread, so I figured this should be an okay place to put this. http://www.hustlebelt.com/2013/12/26/52262...eason-in-review Hustlebelt's Akron Zips season in review. I have trouble disagreeing with any of it.
  2. @BobMcGovernJr: Charley Molnar has been dismissed as the head football coach of the University of Massachusetts.
  3. UMASS coach reportedly fired.
  4. South Carolina is anything but a decent team. They currently have the worst record in the SEC at 3-6. They are also without their leading minutes per game guy from last season in Bruce Ellington. He is currently with the football team. Regardless of the outcome of this one, I'll bet they get us at home as well. Better coach.
  5. had to look it up because I found it hard to believe there are many teams worse than us at FT shooting. We rank 337 out of 351 teams at 61.5%
  6. 7/15 on foul shots. Same old Akron. Hard to win close games shooting from the stripe like that.
  7. at this point Deji deserves more minutes than Kretzer, IMO.
  8. Pittman was in a questionable situation at OSU. Was probably better off for him to leave.
  9. Nope. Didn't expect him to, either.
  10. Deji giving some contributing minutes, Q playing very unselfish, and the refs are letting them play some. Can't complain too much.
  11. Starting lineup- Evans, McAdams, Harney, Tree, and Forsythe. Probably the starting lineup we all prefer.
  12. St. Marys went 0-3 during this tournament..wow.
  13. We dont want Toledo starting out more than 16-0. If they happen to beat Kansas, you can guarantee they are going to skyrocket up the polls.
  14. unrelated to the MAC, but I believe Tennessee has at least 34 (!) commits already. I believe another loophole is that you can greyshirt some players and have them count towards next year's class. I believe that is what was done with Bickley. As for the MAC, WMU and UMASS is the most surprising to me. They picked up Lonnie Johnson (who I really wanted us to get) even after their horrible season. Last year, UMASS brought in a stud at RB and appears to be continuing to do the same even after showing no improvement as a program this season. I'm pretty sure I read that their QB is transferring.
  15. Thought so. I'll chalk this one up under the assumption that DiG got into a little too much spiked egg nog tonight
  16. Ok..I have to admit I am pretty confused. We should be playing South Carolina. Logic should dictate that it will be Boise vs ISU in the championship and South Carolina vs Akron for 3rd place.
  17. Iowa St. is a damn good team. A lot better than I had figured, honestly. However, same old song and dance. I just want this program to have a nationally recognized win for once... It seems that we can hang with these good teams for a half (the ones we aren't supposed to beat) and then run out of gas in the 2nd half every time. I think I saw a stat we only shot 6 FTs?! I have to give special credit to Quincy and even Harney. Quincy hustled all over the floor. I also saw a lot more hustle and effort out of Harney than usual. I don't know if his stat line reflected it, but I thought he made some plays that do not necessarily show up in the stats. You could tell that Tree was absolutely dead in the 2nd half. I can't point out anybody for really having a bad game, just as a team we did not play well. Boxing out, transition defense, ball movement, and leaving that one guy wide open for all of those 3s. Let's win tomorrow. I'd rather face Boise than USCe. I think Oregon St has a chance to be a quality win once they get Moreland back.
  18. lol...LOL. Let's win this damn tourney.
  19. DeAndre Kane (Marshall transfer) is the guy I think we need to worry about the most. Should be a very interesting match up between him and Q.
  20. Reggie has been starting at the 3 at least the past 3 games, right? Didn't get to watch the game, but listened on 1350. Sounds like the Zips played their best game of the year so far. Also noticed this: Evans started and we got off to a hot start. Completely satisfied with the rotation tonight, even with the foul trouble. Let's beat ISU!
  21. Decided to check out Oregon St's games so far. They really haven't beaten anyone besides Maryland (7-4). Other wins come over Portland, SIU-Edwardsville, Arkansas Pine Bluff, Maryland- Eastern Shore, and Towson. They have a season opening loss to Coppin St (yes the Coppin St we beat by 28 last season). Coppin St is 4-5. They were without Devon Collier for that game and will be without Eric Moreland for our game. Moreland appears to be pretty decent as he basically averaged a double-double last season. They also lost to Depaul.
  22. I've never really noticed Kretzer on defense. That could be good and bad. I didn't really notice him on Howard much Wednesday, but I did notice Q and Tree on him. I'll be sure to pay attention to Kretzer against Oregon St on D. I think Harney has to be mentioned as one of our best defenders. Wasn't he one of the guys along with Tree who shut down Cooper last season?
  23. Betancourt, duh
  24. Must have forgot to turn my sarcasm font on
  25. One thing is for sure...the Packers sure have a great O-line and and defense.
