  1. He has done a good job, but why is asking for a little bit of improvement such a big no-no? The program hasn't improved in the past 5-6 years. We compete in the MAC yearly, which is a horrible conference outside of the top 2-3 teams every season. We do not compete in the big OOC/tournament games. If TB turned the football program around, it would be damn great. "Turning it around" would be hovering around .500 yearly and making bowl games. If he continued to stay at .500 and lost his bowl game every year, wouldn't people start to want more? I fail to see a problem with that, especially when the alternative is to be comfortable with mediocrity.
  2. Spot on. We deserve better.
  3. Thought I'd create a thread to keep a little track of how our conference opponents are doing. Hopefully its alright for the basketball forum. Can't St had a nice OOC win against Temple yesterday. Ohio had a nice win against Northern Iowa in their opener. They lost to OSU tonight, but hung tough the whole game, even with 4 of their front court players fouled out. Taylor and Kellogg will be the guys we have to worry about. From what I've seen so far, I'm not going to right them off from being MAC contenders.
  4. ^^ I wish he didn't want to play for us.
  5. I agree with the few posts above me. Lonnie Johnson would be a great get. I believe he is a 4 star WR who decommitted from OSU because he was like the 4th WR in their class and he wanted a chance to get better playing time. He is taking visits to schools like USF(horrible) WMU (just lost to EMU) and Cincinnati. This sounds like a guy we might have a chance to get. How does everybody think the recruiting class is going to end out? I wouldn't be surprised to see a similar amount of transfers as last year. I still think they are needed.
  6. If he is insistent on running the press because we have our PG situation, then I have to blame nobody but him for being in that position. Yes, it was impossible to figure in the AA situation..but it is still his duty as a coach to recruit a quality back up PG. Think about every other position on the team right now..I would feel confident that our back ups at ANY other position could come in and do a solid job if a starter went down. Might have to change the scheme some, but we have back ups that can play. Cannot say that that any of our PGs (starter or back ups) can provide us solid play. I think he has no choice but to ride with Evans and let him get accustomed to D1 play because of his potential, something which I unfortunately see Melo has none of. Think of how many mid-majors in the NCAA make noise without solid PG play. In fact, one can argue an elite PG is all you need to make a run in the NCAAs (see Cooper, Curry). That's how important having someone at that position that can play is.
  7. The lady Zips are very entertaining to watch. They have strong fundamentals and play very up-tempo. I try to catch most of their home games. I didn't see today's game, but from the FIU game, it looked like Plybon will replace Ruper without a beat. This team is already really good, but if they had Sina King...wow. Its unfortunate. But they do seem to have a little more depth this year.
  8. we are nowhere near playing our best and the refs, which I dont like to complain about, are absolutely killing us. So that makes me feel a little better when thinking of our potential. quick thoughts on the game: Nyles has to be the starter. Melo needs to go in a role similar to last season with AA. I realize Nyles isn't producing much, but at least he isn't turning the ball over and has the ability to create. Still not sold on Melo being a D-1 player. Johnson needs to start. So much potential and he has looked great tonight. Forsythe played well, but the turnovers are killer. Just seems his basketball IQ isn't all that high. Hopefully Harney isn't out for long. Admired Diggs' hard play and Tree played hard as always. Let's get these guys in Hawaii. Going to attempt to get a few hours of sleep. Night all.
  9. seriously. How in the hell was that a travel when he was still dribbling the damn ball?
  10. I agree. Absolutely NO flow when he is running the point.
  11. I admire Melo's hustle..but think of what it says that KD is using Quincy to set up the offense.
  12. Pat needs to work on his hands
  13. I think they would have a better chance if we had a little better ball movement to get them a good look. JMO.
  14. He's looked good. Cant believe KD didn't play him because he wanted to make sure we beat CC..
  15. these guys are beatable. lets have a little better ball movement, make some FTs, stop turning it over, and stop leaving shooters open.
  16. have we made a shot outside of the paint this half?
  17. seems like we are dominating the boards.
  18. 2-3 zone..we need to get a shooter on the floor
  19. keep leaving that guy wide open in the corner he is bound to make one or two. 3 times in a row if im not mistaken
  20. great box out by big dog!
  21. um goaltend?
  22. we need to slow this waldo guy down
  23. Melo getting the start at pg
  24. yeah just a tad. the byu/stanford game before ran over a good bit as well. wonder if it has anything to do with this crackdown on fouls. should be available on espn3 if you do not want to miss any of it.
