  1. 1. I agree with the first paragraph, the results would not have been as "drastic", but there would have been a negative impact nonetheless. 2. You are in denial if, after my post, you do not believe a competitive advantage was not created by the cover up.
  2. The thing is, Penn State DID create a competitive advantage. Penn State swept this under the rug to protect their image. It would have had a negative impact on the school and football program even if it were self-reported. They would have lost blue-chip players, affecting the programs performance. It would have had an impact on Joe Pa in recruiting with his "Penn State way".
  3. I wouldn't mind it. I feel like I catch instant lung cancer walking out of buildings after most of my classes.
  4. While I do not agree with everything GP1 says, he is not saying Nittany Lion fans wont go to games because the program is associated with child molestation. He is saying people wont go to game because a shitty product will be on the field.
  5. There were no winners. The game "never happened". Its always like that when a school has to forfeit wins.
  6. 2nd or 3rd string juniors or seniors arent going to be leaving to play for championship opportunities. They will be leaving for a chance to play. Also, Penn State was NOT on the brink of being terrible. They had a pretty good season last year amidst the scandal coming out. Bill O'Brien salvaged the recruiting class at the end of the year to an extent, and had a GREAT class this year before the Freeh report.
  7. False, the vacated wins do not count as a win for the losers. The games "never happened".
  8. The NCAA is allowing schools to add these players without it counting towards the scholarship limit for this season, it would just be subtracted from what scholarships are available for the 2013 recruiting class.
  9. Hey Terry Bowden: Lets snag some of these PSU free agents.
  10. I will agree that you have some good suggestions. However, I do not understand your logic that everybody else got what they deserved, and PSU should be let off. I am too young to comment on SMU outside of what I saw in 30 for 30, however was Tressel at OSU when they received their bowl ban? How about Pete Carroll and Reggie Bush? They werent at USC anymore and the program was still hammered.
  11. Okay, I get that you dislike the NCAA. What is your suggestion to be done in this situation? The legal process will work itself out. It is clear that this situation has shown that PSU has/had a serious lack of institutional control. It is sickening that this was covered up by EVERYBODY involved, clear to the top. I am not a fan of the NCAA either, but something needs to be done. Everybody associated with a program has to deal with the consequences. Not everybody at SMU was given free cars, not everybody at USC was given free houses, and not everybody at OSU was given tattoos in exchange for memorabilia. There is a great chance that any player who wants to leave PSU may, without having to sit out. That isnt punishing everybody. Their new coach? He knew of the possibility of this happening when he accepted the job.
  12. 1) He WAS 3rd on the depth chart. 2) He will only be around one year, because he is a senior. Also, whats it saying if a QB "that has never had success" and a freshman QB can come in and beat out our starter from last year?
  13. there is/was a vegan restuarant right next to Euro Gyro. I dont even know the name of it, but I do know Ive never seen anybody in there.
  14. agreed. a verizon store buying out their contract isnt a good example. All the other restaurants seem to do fine during the summer.
  15. I will not hide that I was in the Clayton Moore corner, but I trust TB's judgement that Dalton Williams give us a better chance to win games than Moore.
  16. hahaha, you listen to skip bayless? Also, Michigan plays Alabama this season. Let me guess, that isnt good enough?
  17. Might want to take your hate blinders off. It's clear your dislike for OSU/B1G is clouding your vision to have a mature discussion. "M10","Luckeyes"...try concentrating on making some valid points and less on corny, unoriginal nicknames.
  18. seems to be pretty moderate discussion about Akron football in this forum. Open your eyes.
  19. 1st highlighted point: The Big 10 has numerous teams that are ranked throughout the year. They just beat up on each other. The B1G is more balanced instead of a top heavy league, like the SEC. If you beat Alabama (who Michigan plays next year, so much for not scheduling big time OOC's), and lose to MSU and OSU, that game is shown to be meaningless. It is what it is. Also, OSU has played Texas and USC in recent years OOC. They just finished a series with Miami who was supposed to be their big time OOC opponent. They cannot help that they flopped. 2nd highlighted point: The SEC is on a great run, I give the credit. However, two teams from the same conference being given the right, without a playoff, to play against each other in the NC game is a joke. Is it any coincidence that the system has been reformed the offseason after this happened? 3rd highlighted point: I am quite aware of OSU's all time record against SEC teams. .500 I believe in bowl games. Who cares if they self-vacated an exhibition game. Tattoos did not give them some competitive advantage in the game that they beat Arkansas.
  20. Interesting, some on here believed that nobody cared about Cant's run in the CWS
  21. Pitt doesn't win with their kids because nobody wants to play for Pitt. They don't win with anybody. Look at PSU,OSU, most B1G teams, and other big name programs around the country and you will find programs winning with WPIAL talent.
  22. Wow! Finally an official word on Commack. Hope he works out for us! Thanks GT
  23. I suggest that you watch some football. The SEC doesnt win anything because of superior SOS. They play their fair share of Georgia Southern's, Citadel's, etc. Playing a couple of tough road games OCC in soccer doesnt make or break your season like it would in football. If OSU, Wisconsin, MIchigan would have went undefeated they would have went to the national championship. The scheduling is fine. Not to mention OSU, a 3rd place B1G team, beat the #2 SEC team a few years ago in the Sugar Bowl
  24. why? Is the NFL regular season worthless in regards to post season? What about high school? This change is making it so that more of a "true" champion is crowned. Coincidence that it happens the offseason after 2 teams from the same conference play in a rematch in the national championship? I think not.
