Hot damn. Perhaps most talented and deep team this season, with perhaps the most talented recruiting class on paper coming in. Situation is ripe for the program to jump up another notch.
-
excitement is building!

Correct. Yesterday was Bullock’s first real playing action in his career. I think they give him a fairly long leash to improve and gain experience throughout the rest of the season. I think any Wasel time will be limited and preserving a redshirt is a lot less of a concern in today’s transfer portal age.

I’m not souring on Moorhead one bit. I think he gets this turned around in time. Just frustrating we can’t come out ahead in close games and there isn’t any sort of “magic” happening where it just seems to all come together for any given game regardless of opponent. And I’m not writing of Bullock or any of our other young QBs, but we have to find a gamer quarterback next year. Not going to win without one.
-
But I thought they were the worst team in the MAC 😉
-
Can’t blame Irons today. Tough to blame Arth as only a few of his guys are here still. Scary part is, we’ll never have a better hire than Moorhead on paper, so if he can’t turn the program around….

I would think this is a result of NIU player availability. I have trouble seeing us going to 3rd stringer instead of a 2nd stringer increases our odds, on its face at least. Obvious to us that Bullock should have a higher ceiling than Undercuffler, but he has a whopping 5 collegiate pass attempts.

You can bet on who the Zips starting QB will be?!
-
they are cracking down on transfers for sure. A lot of crying this year about a former Kent St wr not being given eligibility at UNC. To me, Ali's case is a little more straight forward. He used his one time transfer already, and should be able to use his grad transfer option now. I don't know all the facts, but on its face, it seems pretty cut and dry.

The hype is as highest as it’s ever been going into a season since I’ve been a Zips fan. Do we live up to it? Can’t wait to watch the team this season. Also, I recall there being some thought this could be Groce’s “last ride” with the amount of talent we have and with what we lose after the season. With promising young players like Baker and now Young..looks to me like we’re just planning to keep reloading! (I have no inside knowledge).
-
As he probably should IMO. It’s time to see what these other guys have.
-
Excluding majority of our buy games (KY,MSU,Tenn), I’d be shocked if didn’t have the closet point differential in all of FBS the past two seasons.
-
Just curious. Aside from on here, did you see this posted or announced somewhere?

Kent's family weekend (and HS band day) was last week. Our family weekend is this weekend and we had band day the Morgan State game. They aren't doing anything different, except for having more recent success.

No atmosphere exists because the program stinks and nobody shows up. Winning games leads to fans in seats which leads to a fun atmosphere. Not sure what all we're expecting admin to do here.
-
3 of our losses are by a combined 8 points (incl 2 OT games). Should have beat Indiana which would have been huge for the program. Went toe to toe with undefeated and soon to be ranked Kentucky for 3 quarters. We are so close, its just so frustrating.
-
Obviously a long shot now considering the record, and a back up QB, but this is the MAC, so you never really know. Our D should keep us in most games. And now Joe might actually be forced to feed our RBs.. Buffalo was a bowl team last year that won their bowl game. OOC obviously wasn’t good to them, but they lost to 3 quality opponents in Wisconsin, Liberty, and Louisiana. Fordham loss looks bad, but a FCS loss can happen to anyone. Look no further than NIU after beating Boston College. I’m at minimum putting Can’t St, Ball State, and I suppose us behind them.

Noticed them both on the sideline not dressed.

Loeffler always finds a way to *just* hold onto his job.
-
The staff has brought in 4 scholarship QBs since they've been here - 2 transfers and 2 high school recruits, yet Irons (Arth recruit) was still their best option in their eyes. Just pointing out facts there. If its up to me, I'm giving Undercuffler a game. He keeps starting as long as we have a reasonable bowl shot. He loses, we move on to exploring options for the future to see who we have to work with. 3 candidates worth getting some game action in Bullock, Jennings, and Wasel. Though Wasel's got some tools, his mechanics need a lot of work and that showed in spring game as well. Maybe not through him into the fire yet unless he's made significant strides.
-
That’s too bad. His play is polarizing but he always gave it his all and made some great plays. Best of luck to him going forward. who do we trot out there there next/rest of the season? Undercuffler might win you a few games but what does that really accomplish? id say go with Bullock most of the rest of the year and then Wasel the last few games assuming we don’t have any postseason hopes. Tough to be a zips fan.
-
On paper it’s actually pretty solid. Leads me to believe our highly touted HC and young OC need to do better.
-
Agreed. We don’t make the plays we need to win games.
-
Zips gonna Zip. We just can’t make the play here or there that makes the difference in the game.
-
Cuffy with the clutch gene. I’m ready for rolling with Bullock or Wasel the rest of the season and continue building for the future.
