  1. I am trying to buy ACC Network right now. Looks like on ESPN+, but is not.
  2. Carlo Ritaccio, I am calling you out! Do! Not! Let them shoot! Make every tackle ferocious! 1) Everybody listens to you. 2) You can take it.
  3. I would prefer being the worst 4-0 team in the history of college soccer.
  4. Yes, we had some chances, ones that went begging. Jackson is not living up to his athletic potential. His bad runs and errant passing are insufferable. I keep believing that a light will switch on inside him. Egbo had a few half chances, but he was rather too easily contained by Terps' back four. His effort was inconsistent. Again. Now, Pacheco was again a handful for the opposition and a tough cover. He struck the inside of the far post this time. That poor guy is playing his heart out. It is hard to believe he has yet to score this season. But then again, it is hard to believe that Zips have scored only twice in four matches. Right now Zips look better on the coaching board than they do on the pitch. They are actually less than the sum of their parts. Everybody must play with more grit to beat a much improved Pittsburgh Panther side. It is time to bring the bite.
  5. Well.... We must win the MAC or stay home.
  6. Much love to Niko De Vera and his family during this most difficult time. No one has ever represented Akron Zips Soccer better than has Niko De Vera. Once a Zip; Always a Zip. ZNo mourns.
  7. Much respect for Creighton and their Men's Soccer program. https://gozips.com/news/2019/9/6/mens-soccer-creighton-edges-akron-2-1.aspx?path=msoc
  8. ...AND there is no good reason for a new trend.
  9. Well, that would be a draw, with Bluejays advancing on PKs. This fact was pointed out to me by traveling Creighton fans during their visit last season. Nice folks. Creighton has never beaten Akron.
  10. No, sir. We are not ready for an L tomorrow. Check with Accounting, but I believe Bluejays have NEVER beaten Zips.
  11. If anyone believes Zips were in a formation other than 4-1-4-1, let me know. It appeared to me that Zips put a little effort in disguising their formation. The back four listed here is my preferred back line. There is tremendous potential here to be a championship defense. But for that to happen, the outside backs must play better, and contribute more to the attack. I believe that is very likely. In summary, Zips did not handle the Cardinal high press well. Again. Stanford disguised when they were going to turn on the high press. I like the analogy to gridiron. Stanford is a blitzing team. But they are getting more sophisticated about it. The blitz is not always on. Sitting as close as I do, I could hear Cardinal players shouting what seemed to be code words for the high press. It does not bode well for any side in any match to give up 11 corner kicks. We now know the ratio. 11 ck = 1 g. Zips eclipsed that 11 corner kick mark several times last season without scoring. So, that must change as well. https://www.buildlineup.com/shared/5d6ef8f6138c092e24ae2140
  12. Poetic and poignant delivery from Jeremy Gunn a.k.a. Satan.
  13. Too many corner kicks given!!!
  14. I see light at the end of the tunnel... and the train is named Stanford.
  15. No bout adout it. Much love for Colin Biros. This 2019 squad is very versatile. It would not surprise if NO Zip starts every single match this season. We shall see.
  16. Ritaccio will serve suspension tomorrow at Xavier. I love Biros; he will be a big part of this squad’s success. This team is super deep, perhaps playing 16 players extensive minutes per match. Formation and personnel may not be consistent match in match out.
  17. When the coaches ask me which lineup to start, this is what I will offer: I like the 4-1-4-1. https://www.buildlineup.com/shared/5d6847cc138c092e24ae16a2
  18. https://goxavier.com/news/2019/7/15/mens-soccer-announces-nationally-ranked-recruiting-class.aspx?path=msoc
  19. This will be no easy match.
  20. This is the deepest Zips squad I can recall. Just like the professional teams to which most of our boys aspire, Coach Embick can interchange personnel and/or systems to fit match situations. I believe this squad has been coached on changing formation/system, in mid match. Not even sure I agree with that, but pro teams do it all the time,
