  1. Good point. I keep forgetting that Wil is still in contract. Surely both Crew and Celtic will seek Trapp’s consent on this deal, even if neither is legally obligated to do so.
  2. The money has to be right for Wil Trapp to make that jump. Not just any deal; it must be a really good one. He would surely flourish under Caleb Porter. No doubt about that. But Wil Trapp will not become all he can be by playing out his career in Columbus.
  3. Celtic is almost always involved in European competitions. Even in league competition, Trapp would get greater exposure to EPL teams, for his next jump. Playing for Hearts or Motherwell or Randers is not the same as playing for Celtic or Rangers. As attractive as the Trapp/Porter reunion would be, Wil must strongly consider an opportunity to join Celtic. He is ready. Nagbe may have missed his window. I reiterate: Every Soccer conversation (I have) is implicitly about United States lifting the World Cup. Period.
  4. Good question. Scottish “Premier” League is level with MLS, except for two teams, both from Glasgow. If you don’t know, you better axe somebody! https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Old_Firm
  5. English League Championship. Right below English Premier League = Best Worldwide.
  6. @MarcelZajac11 Thanks for the great memories! Loved watching you play! Best of Luck (except vs. USMNT)! Zips Nation is behind you! Once A Zip; Always A Zip! p.s.Too bad you will not be lifting the 2019 College Cup with us! edit: Once A Zip; Always A Zip! Much love to Marcel Zajac.
  7. There is no story of which I am aware. Probably coincidence. I just pointed to a red herring.
  8. Who was the kicker on this 1976 team?
  9. I stand corrected, and happily so. Since precedent has already been set for Big 10 affiliate membership in only one sport, Akron Soccer should apply forthwith, and without delay. I cannot see a downside to Akron Soccer joining the Big 10. This would be the best option should MAC Soccer ever become untenable. It arguably should be pursued even if MAC Soccer remains unchanged.
  10. Big 10 has never had a provisional member, or a member in only one sport.
  11. I am not surprised. Are you? Didn’t think so.
  12. Mrs. Haslem, about those Crew team colors....
  13. Love JLew!! Once a Zip; ALWAYS a Zip!!
  14. I expect they will run something eventually.

  17. One of the greatest college soccer coaches ever has died. His like may never be seen again. https://uclabruins.com/news/2018/12/26/mens-soccer-legendary-ucla-coach-sigi-schmid-passes-away.aspx https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sigi_Schmid
  18. Reportedly spurned by at least three high profile coaches, Louisville (correctly pronounced Loserville) Men's Soccer has finally found their coach from among extant assistants. Louisville KY native John Michael Hayden arguably should have been their choice all along, except for the university's penchant for hostile takeovers and corruption. Nonetheless, John Michael Hayden is a highly regarded up-and-coming coach. So, look out. https://gocards.com/news/2018/12/27/hayden-chosen-to-guide-uofl-mens-soccer-program.aspx
  19. Congratulations Zarek Valentin on 1) marriage 2) graduation !!! Once a Zip; ALWAYS a Zip!!!
  20. Jared Embick to Louisville......NOT!!!
  21. Thank you, Jared Embick for choosing to see the very best in us. We are eternally thankful for your faithfulness. It is now time for UA AD to respond in kind. Akron Soccer must be afforded ALL the Resources and Support commensurate with a perennially elite program. We should not envy any other programs for anything. Larry Williams, recognize the best card in your hand, and play it accordingly. Louisville is unlikely to come for our Basketball coach, or our Football coach. But Louisville evidently really likes our Soccer coaches. There is a message there, Larry. Be smart enough to see it. Invest In Excellence!

The time for torches and pitchforks has not yet come.
