Just asking. The player was clearly outside the penalty box, but the ball he was playing was inside. What is the rule? I'm warming up to this game. Still learning!
-
I think the biggest blunder was throwing clear across the field on 3rd & 2 in 2 down territory. Even if we run twice and fail, there would have been 90 seconds less on the clock.

I think the film will show that Letuli got hosed on 2 of those calls. We won the only place that counts. I think its true that one learns more in defeat than in victory; so, we have an opportunity to learn much from this game. Early in the game, we took advantage of the situation. At the end, 5 found a way to seal the deal. We won the close one. We are right on track!

Great win, but I agree with 72 Roo. Was the TE scripted early only to have him disappear? Milwee's failure to look ahead seems to be exemp[ified by our failure to get plays in timely,, The play call on the int was a mistake. Yes, it could have gone for a TD, but it was still the wrong call.

I think he also said that we need to use TE more? I think the biggest affect would push the LB's off the line of scrimmage helping our running game. A few throws to RB would also help. I agree that big plays are important, but little plays keep drives going and produce points.

I'm not complaining. I thought we were going to throw more to our tight ends?

Troy is not that good. We were pathetic in the first half! I would give our D a C- at best. Their penalties helped bail us out. Our OC needs to go now; not at the end of the season. There is no imagination. People know what we are going to do(even before the staff gets the play in from the sideline). Surely they would have a check off when a LB lines up in the hole. Bowden needs to set this team and staff down and read them the riot act. He needs to demand better from all of them. Don't feed them "you played hard the whole game". I do believe our Jimmy's & Joe's have the talent to win 4 or maybe 5 more games, but will the staff put them in position to succeed?

I look for the OL to protect better, and our WR's to get better separation(Bickley & Wolf back in action). I think 34 may add to those receiving yds. 3 sacks is a low bar. I think we will see 5 in their backfield a lot this week. I look for big plays to make the difference. Zips win a close one!

I think we were bigger underdogs the last time Campbell came to town. Zips win.

WR, Allen Lazard will certainly be a draft pick. This game will be very similar to Penn State. Stud RB, WR, and QB capable of getting the ball to either. Talent level won't be as high, but the Zips will have their hands full. What is the early weather forecast?

ZIP, you need to find a 12 year old to show you how to hook up your computer to your TV.

NO! Don't change it. It's only 3 hours for me to get to Lincoln. Then 5 1/2 to Evanston, but my son is an NU grad and long time season ticket holder. Then, a 30 min trip to Ames to top it off. I'm pumped. I know the team may start feeling like orphans, but they are young. They will survive.

The Wide Right, Natty Lite guys are a real stich. Pretty good assessment of the Clones. I'll be "scouting" this game.
-
I'm with Rowdy except I think the reserves will push the margin over 37.

01, apparently, you won't be satisfied with anything short of a national championship; so why don't you spare us with your negativity? Just get your news from the BJ. Then, you won't have to read anything about the Zips!

Great write up! Perfect assessment. We should have a better understanding of this team in 3 weeks.
-
When the competition comes down a notch in games 3 & 4, I'll be ready to make a better judgement. Game 2 should be a total mismatch. I certainly wouldn't bench TW next week, but I would give Kato some meaningful reps. This game could build some confidence for the team to propel them to a great season.

I don't think one can really grade performance from a TV broadcast, but I didn't think the Oline did as poorly as many think. First play was a quick off tackle for 9 yards. I don't recall that play being called again. Many of the run plays were zone blocking. PS D was loaded with quick that just over powered us. Their D line showed our guys some P5 moves that we just couldn't handle, but it was a bit disheartening to see them bull rush us into the QB. Next week won't be a good test. Lets give it a few more games before we grade these guys out. Our D seemed to be stuck on stopping the run. That may have been the best call. In the second half, I got the feeling that we were no longer trying to win. It seemed as though we were treating this as a scrimmage to work on some things. I haven't seen an injury report, but I thought I saw Brown getting nicked near the end of the game? I'm still thinking 2 and 2 entering MAC play.

I have a players attitude. Zips win. For that to happen, we need to rush for more than 130, and get those 6 combined big D plays. I'm counting on PSU to come in with an attitude, and the Zips with a chip on their shoulders. The Lions will be looking ahead giving us a chance to stay with them. Once we taste success, we won't be denied.

30.5! Yep. I'll take the points!
-
So we will have 5 upper class scholarship players with all freshmen bench. That didn't sink in for me until I saw Zip Watcher's updated roster. That looks like a mountain to climb.
-
Did Jason Taylor have any stars? But that is beside the point. As evidenced by many of our guys success at the next level, we had some talent last year. We failed to have success because we didn't have a unit. That depth will come into play if we don't have someone to plug into a spot where injury strikes. I don't think there is enough talent difference to yield a blow out; however I know it will take a minor miracle for the Zips to win.

Great article! My highest hope from this is the team chemistry that was projected. I got the impression that both sides of the ball were working together.

I just noticed that the count down to Kickoff on gozips doesn't hit the mark. Is it just my computer?
