  1. Ahhhhhhhhh....Faust.
  2. We all see what we want to see. Irons has proven himself at a level beyond HS. If nothing else, this will raise the level of competition at QB. I have not seen anything about Kato's plans for 2021. Passing success is much more than pass blocking. Recognition of where and when to throw the ball, delivering the ball on time, and completing the catch. Recognizing and handling stunts was a real problem for the O-line. Let us see if coaching and hard work can improve that for '21. The O has no where to go but up! The same goes for the D. We got man handled! We had trouble stopping anyone. Can they toughen up? Pass coverage will improve with better pass rush. Will Arth & staff be here and able to lead this team to an improved '21 version? I think they will be here. We will see if they are able.
  3. Zipfan21, there is some fault with lack of protection. Failure to pick up blitzers was a problem, but that extra rusher left a hole for a hot reciever. There is no way to competently evaluate performance from our couch; so like everyone else here, I'm just spouting opinions. That green O-line blocked for a 1st team RB. Sure there were some drops, but everyone has some. I believe improved QB performance will make a big difference for us. Keeping the defense off the field longer being big. I also think producing more wins next year really falls on the D. If there is a statistic for D forcing 3&outs and punts, I think we could be on the bottom. Can the staff bring in some help or coach up what we have to make a difference? We will know this time next year.
  4. I felt that with a competent QB, we would have had 1000% better O this year. Our 2 signees could be #1 & 2 in the fall. Jankowski will be here for spring practice? And Irons will play his JUCO season in the spring. As LZip said, I would use those 6 or 8 Scholarships to fill some holes with transfers or JUCO's. Also welcome some more walk ons(Freeman!).
  5. I'm excited for signings this week. Since players will get a pass for this year, what happens to the total scholarship limit for schools. Will programs like OSU that maintain the limit need to have seniors from this years class leave so they can sign in coming recruits? This could be a real boost to our program allowing us to get up to the limit.
  6. FF: Zips end season on a positive note after 4 feet of snow cancels game in Canada.
  7. I can't believe you said that. Seriously. Take a time out!
  8. I'm already thinking that the 2020 season will have a big *. We may need to designate conference survivors, and can the post season.
  9. 22.5/24.5!!? This a rivalry game. In the MAC. This game won't be decided until the final buzzer. FF: Both teams score with a trick play.
  10. December 18 will be fun, but September 2021 will be more telling.
  11. Have any of these prospects signed? With such emphatic commitments, l would have expected letters yesterday.
  12. Western/Toledo: MACTION IS BACK!
  13. When was the last time we had a 97yrd TD drive?
  14. I listen to the broadcast. I felt they had 2 color guys doing it. If Dave doesn't like doing play by play, he needs to be replaced.
  15. Our leading rusher will be Kato, and someone other than Kato will throw a TD pass! (Really glad to see you back talking about football.) It will be great getting the monkey off our back right out of the gate.
  16. Of course it's unrealistic to have a full schedule of games in the spring; however spring practice days could be increased a bit, and teams could be allowed one game. A rivalry game could generate much interest, and keep the product in front of fans. Networks will be willing to pay to televise a marbles match by spring. This would be much more interesting than a meaningless inter-squad scrimmage. Then have a normal '21 season.
  17. I should have said "funding" athletics. We all recognize that there are a few institutions that are self funded.
  18. Bingo. Athletics is a hard sell when the list of our highest paid government employees is topped by our coaches.
  19. NO! Let's keep our own "Big Papi"!
  20. I was surprised to hear from GP1. I always looked forward to reading his comments. He is proposing to get business minds involved with helping G5 schools figure out a way forward. Lets say a G5 school can average 25,000 fans for 6 home dates and get $35 a ticket. That would be fantastic! What business man would pay the CEO a half a million to run a business generating 5 million dollars of revenue? If the football program generates other value, the program should benefit. Enhancing student experience? Not much to add there. Enhanced student enrollment? Na. Where is the real value that should have a big chunk of that revenue chart above? NFL! Without colleges providing a fantastic pipeline of players, where would they be? Covid 19 may play havoc with them, but the NFL just put on a much watched show in spite of our lock down. Were there any draftees that didn't come from the Minor League, aka NCAA? Maybe now is the time the NFL starts to chip in.
  21. NCAA reducing pay outs by $375 M. Iowa State has announced $3 - $4M pay cut for coaches and staff. Our pay roll can't support such a cut. Where will we be able to cover our losses? Of course both sides of our budget are not on that same level, but cuts will need to be made.
  22. From a fan far from expert who hasn't seen a game in person: I think we will have a large rotation. Sometimes subbing 5 at a time. Fresh legs and speed will get shots before defenses can bottle us up. When they double, we have plenty of time to work on 4 on 3 sets. I think that will get us plenty of lay ups and dunks. High % shots will decrease our reliance on the 3 ball. Fresh legs will only help our D. Long bench will allow more aggressive D not to worry so much about fouls. Fast tempo will be fun for fans who will fill more empty seats. Go Zips.
  23. Can the U afford a trip to Canada? Eh?
  24. I hope we all have this much fun next fall!
  25. That was our practice field in the early 60's with locker room at the N end. There was a square 1/4 mile track around the field with a baseball field from the SW corner that had very small portable bleachers. At that time, it also was used as our ROTC parade grounds.
