  1. I think that team chemistry has been a big part of our success this year, and this young man sounds like the type of player to really build on that next year.
  2. I wonder if this is an indication of McNees' coaching ability?
  3. I'm not a BB expert; so I need someone to help me understand why we can't score a few fastbreak baskets. If you toss the garbage time pts, I would guess we have less than a dozen baskets all season long.
  4. I think the band will need to add a tune from Forest Gump. Run Warren, Run.
  5. .stupid penalties have been reduced--I look for none Sat. I think we should be able to double up on #1 WR, apply pressure to QB, limiting passing & getting a couple picks. UMass scores less than 17.
  6. With no Zip game, I split my time between watching the Chips and UMass. You really can't scout from a TV feed, but the Chips were not all the impressive. If we bring our A game, we can win this game. When Toledo woke up, they took the lusture off UMass. The Thorn call throw the ball around, but he seemed prone to make some bad decisions. We could come out of the remaining five smelling like a rose, or just smelling.
  7. With our bye week, is it time to work Chapman at WR?
  8. Hilliard, Cinci St. Xavier grad, transferring from Iowa to closer to home. He was recruited out of HS by Akron. Would have 2 years eligibility after sitting out a year.
  9. What were we going to do with another guard? Besides, isn't St. V a little closer our back yard?
  10. Bowden year 1: D1AA (backup) transfer QB--O put up big numbers 2: KP16--O struggled to do anything/ didn't help D 3: KP/TW--O improved minimally/ still didn't help D 4: New QB emerges--O returns to putting up big numbers/ helps D I just don't think we are that far away. Just think what we could have done in year 1 if we would of had last years D! Everyone agrees that our D should be solid again next year. I believe that between Chapman and Kinked we will have the answer at QB. Neither has played a down, but I think both of them are capable of propelling our O to new heights. I wouldn't be surprised to see both of them on the field together at times. April 18 will bring much clarity to our prospects for the fall.
  11. At least one on the O can be added to this list. RB Joshua Thomas has signed with Iowa State. Tyler should get a shot at him In '18 in Ames and in '19 at the Info.
  12. One way we used to recreate the fatigue and pressure was to incorporate suicides with free throws at the end of practice. Its been so long ago that my memory has pleasantly blocked out the details.
  13. I wouldn't say that refs should be insulated from criticism. I think they are trying to do their best. As fast as the college game is, I think it would be very hard to even think about what happened 5 mins ago. In the heat of the battle, do you think verbal abuse would slant your vision? Is that part of the "home court advantage"? Did Bob Knight get any special treatment?
  14. My perspective changed dramatically when I had the opportunity to ref some HS rec league games. Try walking a mile in those sneakers; then come back and make your comments.
  15. I think it would be great to see Kincade behind center with Chapman at WR. A few years ago Northwestern caused a lot of problems with 2 QB's on the field at the same time. Those QB's were very similar to ours. One was more traditional, and the other was very much a dual threat. Chapman could move behind center at times. That would keep the D on their toes. The bubble screen could even take on a new dimension.
  16. I think with one or two fellow MAC schools coming with us our travel budget would still be reasonable. We could still maintain our rivalry with Can't. Iowa and Iowa State maintain a strong rivalry and play their game in September. After the MAC shunned us for years, why should we feel any loyalty?
  17. As Big Dog improves his conditioning, I think his interior passing will add another punch we haven't seen much of yet.
  18. I would much rather see Kinkade push Tra'von to WR where I think he would put up big yac #'s.
  19. I remember the "friendly" 7 on 7 that we had against Mt. Union a few years ago. We got embarrassed against D3 talent. It takes time to turn things around, but I would think that by now, we would have some receivers who could get some separation and a QB who could consistently deliver the ball. I am hopeful for next year. I saw our transfer QB play a game for Roosevelt a couple years ago. I hope he will be forced to convert to WR where I think he will be a serious big play threat. Will someone step up and take over at QB? Kinkade enrolled early and got an extra spring practice. Maybe he will deliver next year.
  20. It's hard to believe we are 3-1 with so little production from Jake & Reggie. When they heat up, we could really have a year to remember. I'm sure the youngsters will give us moments to pull our hair out, but that may only be brief minutes like we have already seen, with others stepping up to over come. Go Zips!
  21. I love that southern trait! It makes me feel old when young men call me Sir, but it warms my heart at the same time. One point that I would put high on my list evaluating our program as a recruit or parent, is TB's use of inherited upper classmen. It should demonstrate TB's respect for his players. By not abandoning these guys and sacrificing a few seasons to rebuild, I would be convinced that I or my son would play for someone with my best interest as a priority.
  22. What was the spread vs. Miss. State couple years ago?
  23. This tourney will tell us a lot of what to expect from the Treeless team. I'm no expert, but it looked like we have a lot of talented newcomers in the opening win. With the loss of the main cog, I think we will see added effort to take that place. We may see a different player emerge on either end of the court. That may evolve over the next month or more, but I think we will find over the next few games that all is NOT lost for this season. Keep the faith.
  24. akronzips71, I'll stick my neck out there with you. Nothing good happens at 4AM; unless you are the kid getting ready to deliver to deliver my newspaper. There are so little facts that we know, it is impossible to know what happened. Apparently the AD got enough info from the police to suspend Tree. I just hope the AD used good judgment, and didn't just react impulsively. We may learn that everyone involved have decided to allow the incident to be handled internally. Keeping it in the "family" could be the best for everyone involved.
  25. Yes. I've rebooted my computer on multiple days with the same non result. I'm using the WARF link right now listening to the women. I hope I can figure something out for ESPN by Tues. Yea. I guess I'm a masochist with the rest of you. I can't give up on football.
