  1. Do any of you think for a minute that the players and coaches don't feel the same frustrations being vented here? With 80% of performance being mental, l would be pissed if Arth didn't get "testy" supporting his players. We have seen these young men for a hundred snaps or so; the coaches have worked with them for months. Second guessing isn't going to be welcome particularly from a guy who seems to just "call it in" himself. Arth did say that the coaches need to find a way to help these men be successful. I'm sure they will try to do their part.
  2. Hemiman, l live in Iowa; so my advise will be limited. If you fly to Akron, l would come on Thursday and stay close to the airport. From there, you would be 10 minutes from the Pro Football Hall of Fame. From there on Saturday, you would be 15 or 20 minutes from the stadium. The parking lot under the score board will be littered with Zip flags, but to find the Captain, just look for the flag flying high! If you can manage to bring a cooler on wheels, fill it with some craft beers. You will have a great time making lots of new friends!
  3. KG14, thanks for visiting. We aren't all grumpy old men! This contest should tell us much about both our teams. Let's wish for no injuries for both of our teams.
  4. New QB? Pressure game plan yields 5 sacks limiting Chips air attack!
  5. He is probably busy preparing for "Game Day" Cy/Hawk game.
  6. I hope we don't spend any effort on Marquael. We need to aim high, but lets be realistic.
  7. I had 11 hours of drive time to reflect yesterday. I don't think the game was a total disaster. We held their run game in check. Jest had a notable day. Total lack of pressure on QB needs attention. Riley got beat on a 75 yd TD pass. Give some credit to their QB & WR, but he also had an INT and he closed fast to make a nice defend at our goal line. He is a R/So with time to improve. We showed some heart closing with 14 Q4 points. I do think special teams lost this one for us. On their K/O to our 2yd line; I think Boogie made the right decision. That ball was either destined to go into the end zone or out of bounds; either of which would have been a good out come. The Blazers just got there in time to force him to cover the ball. When we finally did get a 50yd punt, their blind side block tacked on 15 more yds, but more notable to me was our coverage only allowed a 5yd return! Past years we got 40 yd punts with 20yd returns. Grade coaching a D? Let's see how we mature through the season before we post any grades. It's not even midterms yet!
  8. Nobody asked about the players that didn't make the trip to Illinois. Will we see them Sat.?
  9. Did the staff really expect to win? It seemed more like a practice scrimmage. So many players participating, 15 frosh, what was up holding back Williams? I hope to see a different team next week.
  10. My fearless forecast: With no reason to hold anything back, zips get 5 sacks utilizing multiple fronts!
  11. I like our chances. New playbook on both sides of the ball holds pluses and minuses. Offensively, l think we will have a better plan to work, but have we had enough time to be able to work the plan. Same on D..I like the diversity the staff is putting in, but can we avoid too many mistakes? From what we have seen, it looks like the team is more disciplined, and they have put in the work. If we can find an average running game, l look for Kato to flourish. Avoid mistakes. Have the right personnel on the field in time to be organized. Fly the Jolly Roger.
  12. 3) Returning player: Kato Some others have more room to grow, but I think Kato is ready to really turn some heads. It helps to have a head coach that understands the position.

  14. I love this time of year. Every team in the country is undefeated. Optimism is rampant, on the field and in the stands. I'm looking forward for a daily glimpse of the on field action to feed my optimism!
  15. Big thanks to our beat reporters! I get the feeling that Boogie's attitude is pervasive with this team. I'm looking forward to this fall.
  16. Thanks CK (& Dr Z). I've said it before; that 80%(attitude) is what will make the difference in the fall. With that kind of senior leadership, MAC, you better look out!
  17. Thanks to CK & Dr Z, I think we are getting a great assessment of our team. It seems like we haven't missed a beat. The one thing that stands out to me from your observations is how Arth interjects himself in multiple position drills. Perhaps coming from FCS where you must be able to develop players to be successful is just what we need. Additionally, spending an hour with HC's and potential recruits really sends a message.
  18. He meant we might bristle with pride!
  19. Thanks CK. This just confirms for me what I expected. New coach/ new depth chart! One's and two's of old will crank it up to stay there; all others will see their chance to move up. I firmly believe that at this level performance is 20% ability/80% attitude. I expect some big surprises out of this group. Much can be accomplished with the proper attitude. We may not win the MAC, but I don't expect a down year. Save some vacation for December.
  20. YSU and UNI are very comparable teams. UNI brings a lot of heart burn to Ames and Iowa City when they visit. Just sayen.
  21. Fruit Jar Tech presents a great opportunity to get an important road win and build on last night's performance.
  22. Yes, it was a great read, but it was quite revealing! We heard so much about the effort to recruit NE Ohio in the past. Some of the comments made it seem like we had no presence in the HS community in the very places we needed to be most. If nothing else, Arth can help change that dismissive attitude in our back yard. Winning players? Butts in the seats.

Thanks Kreed & Dr Z. That was the simple explanation I couldn't get from ESPN.

Kreed, please help a geezer. With ESPN+, do you get all ESPN content, including ESPN3? for $5?
  25. Capt, I'm looking forward to your story. Your personal assessment along with Arth's recommendations from some pretty impressive football people should calm the "Nation". Zippy, I haven't seen where Arth has rescinded any offers, and Feb. isn't that far off. I think giving the commits a chance to look around will help us recruit in the future.
