  1. Saturday results Georgetown improved to 1-4-0 with a 1-0 win over #19 Connecticut Bowling Green dropped to 4-1-0 as they lost 2-1 to Western Illinois (first win of the year as they go to 1-3-1) Furman upset #10 Kentucky 1-0 (kentucky had defeated Louisville earlier in the week) Wake Forest defeated #13 Virginia 1-0 in OT #14 Stanford improved to 1-1-3 with a 4-1 win over San Jose State
  2. as always, youtube has a 30 second ad at the start video does show Skye's two goals... Most of Jared and Skye's quotes were in the beacon article
  3. Early on in the season, the zips are not getting much help down the road for RPI. Ohio State and Georgetown and VCU all started their seasons 0-4. Penn State and SMU also seem to be having seasons below their expectations. There are still many undefeated MAC teams but Buffalo and BGSU are not playing tough schedules. St. Mary's, CA had tied Stanford earlier in the year so Western Michigan's 2-0 win over St.Mary's CA is a quality win for a MAC team.
  4. #1 North Carolina went to Clemson and defeated #5 Clemson 1-0 #4 Indiana hosted #2 Maryland 1-1 result VCU dropped to 0-4 as they lost 4-2 to Radford (4-0-0) Buffalo moved to 5-0-0 with a 4-0 win over winless VMI Michigan State 4 Rutgers 0 Michigan dropped to 0-2-3 as they lost 2-1 in 2 OT’s to Wisconsin West Virginia 1 E. Tennessee State 0 in OT Tulsa improved to 2-1-1 with a 1-0 win over UAB SMU dropped to 2-3-0 as they lost 1-0 to Providence Penn State dropped to 2-2-1 as they lost 3-1 to St. Francis (PA) Ohio State improved their mighty record (Sarcasm alert) to 1-4-0 with a 1-0 win over northwestern Northern Illinois fell to 0-4-2 as they lost 1-0 to Binghamton Grand Canyon improved to 2-2 with a 1-0 win over Missouri State #30 Western Michigan (5-0-0) Defeated St. Marys, CA 2-0 #26 San Diego State 3 Texas Rio Grande Valley 0 #28 Loyola Chicago 2 #8 Utah Valley 0 #6 Notre Dame won 4-1 over previously undefeated Va. Tech (VA Tech has wins over Georgetown and Ohio State) #17 Louisville 2 Pittsburgh 0 #3 Syracuse defeated NC State 2-0 And of course , Butler 4 #7 Cal Santa Barbara 2 #21 Gonzaga won 3-1 over American (Gonzaga had defeated Seattle 4-2 in the game right after Akron beat Seattle)
  5. are any of the out of town fans watching the video. I was able to see video last year. This year, on my laptop...I am getting the message...no compatible source for this video. I can get video on my i-phone in the 2nd half. In the first half, did the commentators comment on Sam Gainford and Victor souto's absence? from the stats, it looks like Jon Lewis was really active. Happy to see the young man from Copley get 2 goals. Great job, Skye and the zips
  6. http://www.topdrawersoccer.com/college-soccer-articles/mens-di-preview:-start-of-conference-play_aid39996 national media is already piling on the zips.....The comments in this article honked me off I don't know Timmy Mueller.....but he is no Abu Danladi.....and oregon State does not have a Jackson Yuelll on their team..... Mark it down, the zips will have a bounce back performance on Friday night Brad and Danilo will be fine......
  7. I like this news... Coach Embick said before the season that Stuart would be out for UP TO 6 weeks.... maybe, the zips will catch a break and Stuart will come back sooner than the 6 weeks.. I know that we are looking forward to seeing this hard working young man back on the Cub cadet field
  8. Jesse Garcia, a transfer from Akron, has started the last 3 games for Oregon State. Garcia had a goal and assist against Wright State and he also had an assist against San Jose State I shared above...that oregon State knocked off the buckeyes on Monday...sadly (not ) , the buckeyes are 0-4
  9. The beavers are 3-0-1 yesterday, they defeated the other OSU....the Buckeyes 2-1 in 2 overtimes they defeated san jose state 3-0 on Friday Wright State 4-0 on Aug. 28 and they tied DePaul 1-1 on Aug. 26 The Zips did a great job last year shaking off the Old Dominion game. I am confident that this team will do well in front of the home crowd on Friday.
  10. comments from Coach Embick: "When you look at the score you feel like there are no positives," said Akron head coach Jared Embick. "But I do think we can take away some things from this; UCLA is a great team and tonight like all good teams, they were ruthless." "We created many chances, but did not convert them in key moments. If we score, I think it changes the game. Even after halftime, we had a great 10 minute spell and almost scored. When we gave up the third goal we put our head down and they made us pay. We have to regroup, there is a lot of soccer left. We need to come back to our fans and get two wins against a pair of undefeated teams."
  11. no Deandre in tuesday's night qualifier http://www.starsandstripesfc.com/2016/9/3/12789116/besler-yedlin-leave-usmnt-camp-bradley-orozco-set-to-join
  12. The field did indeed look small....in person Very strange set up....the soccer field is on top of a two story parking structure. You park in the lot and then walk upstairs to see the game. That being said, San Diego State was much quicker to the ball and had many more good opportunities. The zips will learn from this.
  13. Thanks, the zips will be without Victor and Stuart....so each team is missing star(s)
  14. Did Abu Danladi play against Duke?
  15. San Diego state really took control late in the half
  16. http://www.gozips.com/sports/msoc/2016-17/releases/20160901ph40ns they have some quotes on the zip web site....and you can see the entire article by clicking on the PDF that the Zips SID has attached. Akron soccer is in a very good place right now....with Coach Embick and his staff.
  17. http://www.topdrawersoccer.com/college-soccer-articles/mens-weekend-preview:-sept-2-5_aid39847 not surprisingly, Akron-UCLA is listed as one of the best games this weekend.....and it would be OK with this zip fan if Abu Danladi is not able to return this weekend from his injury. Georgetown vs. Maryland should be an interesting result to see.
  18. http://www.goaztecs.com/sports/m-soccer/spec-rel/083116aab.html SDSU release on the game....
  19. another top 25 team to start off the tough 2 game road trip I did not realize that San diego State plays in the pac-12 for soccer. We all remember that UCLA scored 4 goals against akron in early November last year (Richie and Danilo did not play in that game). 2 weeks after UCLA and Akron played....San Diego State defeated UCLA 1-0 on Nov. 16, 2015. I am sure that Coach Embick and the seniors on this team....will have the Zips ready for another very tough team on Friday night http://www.goaztecs.com/sports/m-soccer/spec-rel/083016aaa.html
  20. that is fantastic for a new program. The south Carolina/clemson mens soccer game last Friday drew 6,900. Interesting attendance numbers for UCLA. Their soccer facility has a capacity of 11,700, I was very surprised to see that last week's UCLA-Maryland game was moved to the Stub Hub Center. Attendance at the Stub Hub Center was 1,134. UCLA hosted Cal State Fullerton this past Monday at Drake Stadium (their stadium with 11,700 capacity. Attendance was 746. Will be interesting to see the attendance for the Akron-UCLA game on Labor Day.
  21. http://www.nscaa.com/web/Rankings/NCAA/DI_MEN.aspx soccer coaches have the zips at #1.... stanford dropped from #1 to #15 after ties against Penn State and St. Mary's
  22. The honors continue.... http://www.topdrawersoccer.com/college-soccer-articles/tds-mens-team-of-the-week:-aug-30_aid39805 Ben Lundt is the goal keeper on Top Drawer Soccer's team of the week
  23. We may see Seattle again deep in the post season. Very talented team. All kinds of credit to them for playing up and down the field soccer against the Zips. I also think that Coach Embick and his staff deserve a great deal of credit for making adjustments at half time. Like several others, I sure do not think that Adam was awfully quiet.. He threaded several passes thru heavy traffic. Adam truly has a special vision on what will work on the field. For both games, I tried to watch the action but I also tried to focus on Adam and Victor. They both were all over the field on defense and both are so calm(while being decisive) in making passes and advancing the ball up the field. Victor and Adam's talent and intense competitive fire are going to lead this team to a great season . I thought that both Adam and Victor were outstanding in both games. With all of the surgeries that he has endured, very happy for Tyler Sanda to be the hero. Great student athlete.
  24. Brad Ruhaak was recognized on the national level http://www.collegesoccernews.com/index.php/awards/team-of-the-week/949-college-soccer-news-national-team-of-the-week-week-ending-august-28-2016
