  1. Ken Lolla's team had a very nice win tonight as they defeated top drawer soccer's #1 team (Notre Dame) 1-0 in front of 4,043 in Louisville Notre Dame had been 6-0-0 Louisville improved to 5-1-1(their loss was to KY and they tied a very good Butler team) N. Carolina def. Pittsburgh 1-0 and Syracuse defeated Boston College 2-0
  2. zips win 2-1 zips got conservative toward the end...and tulsa guy beat 2 defenders and earned a penalty kick... that made it 1-1 at 85 minutes Brad Ruhaak threaded a pass into the middle and Ezana one touched it around the 88 minutes mark for the winner announcers were saying that Nick Hinds got 2nd yellow card at 89 minute mark...but did not seem to leave the field tulsa player whacked an akron player at 89:18 and got a red card zips had no rhythm or pattern tonight....they did not control possession like they normally do. Very hard game to follow as the camera was pretty far away. Adam did not seem to get a lot of touches tonight. However, if you had told me at the beginning of the year that the zips would go 3-0-0 against Oregon State, Cal Santa Barbara and Tulsa...without Victor souto, Stuart Holthusen and Sam Gainford only playing about 20 minutes total in the 3 games, I would have a hard time seeing that. I know that we are all hoping that Stuart will be back healthy very soon.
  3. GOAL ZIPS great free kick by Skye Harter well placed header from Shane Wiedit
  4. camera person is awful so far
  5. I think that the akron web site had time wrong.... I think it is 8 pm central......not 8 eastern
  6. I was really hoping to see Victor Souto in the starting lineup tonight. Victor is a smart, unselfish player who really battles in the midfield. I became a huge fan of Victor after reading his blogs from the Brazilian trip. He is a great student athlete and his Brazilian blogs showed that truly loves his Brazilian family and his Akron family.
  7. http://tulsahurricane.com/news/2016/9/15/tulsa-mens-soccer-team-hosts-16-akron-and-santa-clara-this-week.aspx looks like there will be a cost to watch tomorrow night's video Fans unable to attend the match in person can watch it live on TulsaHurricane.com/watch. There is a 24HR Pass, a Monthly Pass and Yearly Pass that allow you to watch all TU home men's and women's soccer, volleyball and softball games depending on the package purchased. looks like it is $6.95 for 24 hours
  8. VCU dropped to 1-5-0 as they lost 3-0 to Virginia Michigan State improved to 4-1-0 after a 1-0 win at Oakland Michigan dropped to 0-4-2 after losing 2-0 to Indiana West virginia is tied 0-0 with Maryland Baltimore county after 90 minutes

That event was removed from NC this week. Does anyone if the locations for the 2017 and 2018 mens college cup locations have been selected?

  11. http://www.nscaa.com/web/Rankings/College_Rankings/NCAA_DI_MEN/web/Rankings/NCAA/DI_MEN.aspx zips dropped from #10 to #16.... the rankings do not include last night's win over Santa Barbara zip opponents in the rankings are :UCLA at #7 ; San Diego State at #11 ; Cal-Santa Barbara at #13 ; Buffalo receiving votes at #26 when they did the pre-season rankings, there were a lot more teams in the rankings..Georgetown at 10 ; SMU at 12 ; Cal-Santa Barbara at 13 ;Seattle at 14 ; UCLA at 16 ; Ohio State at 18 ; Tulsa at 27 ; VCU at 34 Hopefully, Georgetown, SMU, Seattle and other teams will rebound and help the zips down the road in the RPI
  12. I am very happy for the coaches and the players. They showed a great deal of character after getting steamrolled at UCLA. Great defensive effort in both of the last 2 games against two high scoring forwards...Timmy Mueller and Dupuy from UCSB. I have to give coach Embick a lot of credit for sitting an All MAC performer in Sam Gainford for most of the last 2 games and giving Skye Harter an opportunity. The redshirt freshman made his coach look very smart. Last year, the team really took off when Coach Embick moved Andrew Souders to an outside DB spot and inserted Danilo as one of the center backs. At the beginning of last year, no one expected Danilo to be a key contributor. Last night, Brad moved to an outside back position and Shane Wiedt joined Danilo as a center back. I hope that change works as well as last year's change. Coach Embick, Coach Leo and the other coaches have the courage and the knowledge to make needed changes. I can not say enough good things about Jonathan Lewis. His effort level is absolutely outstanding and he is going to get better as the year goes along. Nick Hinds has a tremendous amount of skill and he is also quite tenacious. Very happy that these 2 young men from Plantation,FL are playing soccer for the Zips.
  13. Western Michigan lost their first match of the year yesterday...1-0 to the university of the pacific Grand Canyon lost 1-0 to New Mexico in the first rankings of the week, the zips are 12 in top drawer poll and cal santa barbara is 16 college soccer news has cal santa barbara at 14 and zips at 16.... huge match tonight http://www.topdrawersoccer.com/college-soccer-national-rankings/men http://www.collegesoccernews.com/index.php/polls/csn-preseason-top-30-poll/123-csn-2014-preseason-top-30-poll/960-college-soccer-news-top-30-national-poll-week-ending-september-11-206
  14. as we all know, SMU lost to Akron in the round of 16 last year... SMU had high expectations this year SMU dropped to 2-4 this year as they lost 2-0 to Brown (3-0-0 record) #8 Utah Valley def. Northern Illinois 3-0 (MAC team falls to 0-5-2) Buffalo moved to 6-0-0 on the year with a 2-1 overtime win over Liberty of the Big South league in the akron tournament, Butler crushed Oregon State 3-0 Tulsa's record is now 2-1-2 after tieing Stetson 2-2 VCU improved to 1-4-0 with a 2-1 over Vermont (Vermont had been 5-0-0 and ranked in at least one poll) San Diego State 2 Memphis 0 Seattle dropped a 2-1 match at Dartmouth (Seattle drops to 2-3 while Dartmouth gets their first win of the year...they are 1-1-2)

  16. as always, youtube has a 30 second ad at the start video does show Skye's two goals... Most of Jared and Skye's quotes were in the beacon article
  17. Early on in the season, the zips are not getting much help down the road for RPI. Ohio State and Georgetown and VCU all started their seasons 0-4. Penn State and SMU also seem to be having seasons below their expectations. There are still many undefeated MAC teams but Buffalo and BGSU are not playing tough schedules. St. Mary's, CA had tied Stanford earlier in the year so Western Michigan's 2-0 win over St.Mary's CA is a quality win for a MAC team.
  18. #1 North Carolina went to Clemson and defeated #5 Clemson 1-0 #4 Indiana hosted #2 Maryland 1-1 result VCU dropped to 0-4 as they lost 4-2 to Radford (4-0-0) Buffalo moved to 5-0-0 with a 4-0 win over winless VMI Michigan State 4 Rutgers 0 Michigan dropped to 0-2-3 as they lost 2-1 in 2 OT’s to Wisconsin West Virginia 1 E. Tech (VA Tech has wins over Georgetown and Ohio State) #17 Louisville 2 Pittsburgh 0 #3 Syracuse defeated NC State 2-0 And of course , Butler 4 #7 Cal Santa Barbara 2 #21 Gonzaga won 3-1 over American (Gonzaga had defeated Seattle 4-2 in the game right after Akron beat Seattle)
  19. are any of the out of town fans watching the video. I was able to see video last year. This year, on my laptop...I am getting the message...no compatible source for this video. I can get video on my i-phone in the 2nd half. In the first half, did the commentators comment on Sam Gainford and Victor souto's absence? from the stats, it looks like Jon Lewis was really active. Happy to see the young man from Copley get 2 goals. Great job, Skye and the zips
  20. http://www.topdrawersoccer.com/college-soccer-articles/mens-di-preview:-start-of-conference-play_aid39996 national media is already piling on the zips.....The comments in this article honked me off I don't know Timmy Mueller.....but he is no Abu Danladi.....and oregon State does not have a Jackson Yuelll on their team..... Mark it down, the zips will have a bounce back performance on Friday night Brad and Danilo will be fine......
  21. I like this news... Coach Embick said before the season that Stuart would be out for UP TO 6 weeks.... maybe, the zips will catch a break and Stuart will come back sooner than the 6 weeks.. I know that we are looking forward to seeing this hard working young man back on the Cub cadet field
  22. Jesse Garcia, a transfer from Akron, has started the last 3 games for Oregon State. Garcia had a goal and assist against Wright State and he also had an assist against San Jose State I shared above...that oregon State knocked off the buckeyes on Monday...sadly (not ) , the buckeyes are 0-4
  23. The beavers are 3-0-1 yesterday, they defeated the other OSU....the Buckeyes 2-1 in 2 overtimes they defeated san jose state 3-0 on Friday Wright State 4-0 on Aug. 28 and they tied DePaul 1-1 on Aug. 26 The Zips did a great job last year shaking off the Old Dominion game. I am confident that this team will do well in front of the home crowd on Friday.
