  1. I don't smell a conspiracy. I think that the inconsistencies and inaccurate reporting ....are due to the men's soccer SID.....doing the bare minimum. I agree with Fknbuflobo and NYCZip......that the assist almost certainly came from Barboto. That young man has great field vision and needs to be seeing more playing time.
  2. can @fknbuflobo tell us if the Guardians are going to win this afternoon?

  4. Great pass by WKWK great finish by Dice.....
  5. Who had the assist on the Dobrijevic goal? The zip player had great vision....and perfectly threaded the pass thru many Wright State players. Really happy to see Caleb Borneo get a goal. Very unselfish pass by Dyson......on the goal by Daniel Firek.

  9. Embick calling out "the freshman left back substitute" in his Temple post game comments....was very unprofessional. It showed very poor judgement by Embick. Other players (some of them an early season co-captain) gave up goals in several games earlier in the year and they were not targeted by Embick in the post match comments. One former zip player (time frame before 2000) called Embick's Temple press conference comments "reprehensible." Being a freshman athlete is very hard. Trying to balance schoolwork and athletics. Being away from home for a significant amount of time. Criticism of a freshman athlete should be done in the privacy of a locker room. It should not be done publicly when the coach is frustrated by poor results. James Buebendorf was a highly ranked recruit and I very much want him to succeed at the University of Akron.
  10. I have not listened to this yet drove up for the Friday night zips soccer and then went to Guardians game 1 playoffs then started the long drive home
  11. Top Drawer soccer has highlighted the game as one of 5 to watch https://www.topdrawersoccer.com/article/?categoryId=21&articleId=53868&articleTitle=five-mens-di-games-to-watch-this-weekend Akron (4-3-3) vs. Xavier (4-2-4) - Friday, October 4th, 7 PM Eastern, FloSports Two teams plagued by inconsistencies, both Akron and Xavier have enjoyed wins against nationally ranked opponents, only to lose the next game to a much weaker opponent. Regardless, both are enjoying a minor unbeaten run and meet for a match that will shake up the Big East standings.
  12. sadly, Dar Nag was born in Liberia. I do agree that he would be light years better than our candidates in the past 10 years
  13. Another well deserved honor for Mitch https://www.topdrawersoccer.com/college-soccer-articles/mens-team-of-the-week:-september-30_aid53857 Top Drawer Soccer Men’s Team of the Week: September 23-29 GK Mitch Budler, Akron - The redshirt junior was unbeatable this week with eight saves and two shutouts across matches with Saint Francis and Georgetown.
  14. Congratulations to Emil. He is the best #9 that Akron has had in the past 10 to 15 years. Great scorer, very unselfish passer.
  15. Gary Miller was a minor league president. He hired a minor league guy as his athletic director. Charles Guthrie is in way over his head.
  16. RPI rankings for some Big East teams....as of Sunday morning 9/29 Providence 6 Georgetown 17 Seton Hall 38 Xavier 41 Akron 48 Marquette 52
  17. Saturday Big East results #15 Seton Hall and #24 U Conn played to 0-0 tie #18 Providence and Creighton played to 2-2 tie Xavier and DePaul played to 0-0 tie St. Johns 2 Villanova 1 in the 8 pm game, Marquette just defeated Butler 2-0 Standings - midwest (unlike the premier league...I am showing wins, losses and ties) Akron and Marquette are both 2-0-0 Xavier 1-0-1 Creighton and DePaul are both 0-1-1 Butler drops to 0-2-0 Standings - east U Conn and Providence are 1-0-1 Georgetown and St. Johns have 1 win and 1 loss Seton Hall is 0-1-1 Villanova is 0-2-0
  18. writeup from the Georgetown men's soccer site https://guhoyas.com/news/2024/9/28/mens-soccer-hoyas-fall-to-zips.aspx Head Coach Brian Wiese "Credit to Akron, they're a good team and they started off strong. But that's the main disappointment for the day because for the next 70 minutes I thought we were very good. Their goalie had not just eight saves, but eight great saves, so at the end of the day, the main complaint is the start of the match and the inability just to push one past them. Now we need to move on quickly to Providence. They're one of the top teams in the conference and we need to be a little more lethal in front of the net if we can."
  19. I would be remiss if I also did not talk about Beto Ydrach. He is an absolute warrior. Georgetown really concentrated their attack ....using their left winger to attack the zips right back..... Beto was constantly in the right place.....and he battled all game against Georgetown's big, talented front line.
