  1. Butler faced Western Michigan this afternoon https://butlersports.com/news/2018/8/30/mens-soccer-no-11-butlermsoccer-posts-2-0-road-win-over-no-16-western-michigan.aspx
  2. once again, Akron's weekend match is considered one of the top 5 matches of the weekend. I suspect that the same thing will occur next weekend with one of the games in Washington In the article...you can also note college soccer fans will be able to watch Stanford at Maryland on Fox Sports 1 on Friday night https://www.topdrawersoccer.com/college-soccer-articles/mens-top-5-matches-to-watch:-aug-31_aid44656 Saturday, September 1 Pittsburgh (1-1) at No. 2 Akron (0-1-1), 7 p.m. (ESPN+) Another ACC test arrives in Akron after the Zips lost 2-0 to a solid NC State squad. With so many new faces in Akron, it’s not a huge surprise to see the team start slow as they look to configure their attack around sophomore forward David Egbo. Pittsburgh, which is rapidly improving under head coach Jay Vidovich, is going to look to come away with a famous win in this one. Forward Edward Kizza scored a hat trick in a Monday matchup against Delaware, and he’s one of a handful of players that have shown that they can make an impact. Prediction: Pittsburgh 2-2 Akron
  3. Thank you for the insider info on Skye. A very knowledgeable soccer fan sitting near me at Friday's game commented that Skye did not look 100% healthy.
  4. I would like to see Skye Harter get some more playing time against Pitt. Skye has been with the program for many years and he should be very motivated for the zips to get a win over Pitt's co-captain Shane Wiedt ( a former Zip) In the first 2 games for Pitt, both former Zips - Wiedt and Robby Dambrot have started both games and Dambrot even scored a goal in their most recent game. and yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus and it will be very weird to see Keith Dambrot in non Akron colors....Go, Zips !!! In terms of the lineup, I have been impressed with Nikolic's willingness to "rifle" a shot at the goal. That can lead to rebound chances if the keeper can not handle cleanly. I might be inclined to insert Nikolic into the "3" in a 4-2-3-1 if Colin Biros struggles early. Skye had a stretch last year where he did very well on corner kicks. Having some height in the lineup like Braden Petno and Nikolic could lead to good results if Skye is putting corner kicks in dangerous places
  5. Very light schedule for college games last night (Tuesday) Penn State 1 Bowling Green 0 SIU-Edwardsville 1 Univ.of Missouri - Kansas City 0
  6. Bashing the players in the media serves no purpose. Jared and Leo and others will get their points across behind the scenes in practice. The 2015 team had a brutal butt kicking in their 2nd match at Old Dominion and they rebounded to make it to the final four. Last year's team had a bad first weekend out west. This bad loss and the incentive of playing against 2 former Zips.....should help the Zips rebound on Saturday against Pitt.
  7. Monday was not a good night for the zips on the field...and they did not get any help for RPI Butler lost tonight 2-1 to a Drake team that is not ranked. Drake had lost first game 1-0 to Oral Roberts Western Miichigan lost 1-0 tonight to DePaul DePaul lost first game 1-0 to Kentucky Pitt beat Delaware tonight 6-1...Robby Dambrot scored a goal Washington 2 New Mexico 0 Green Bay 3 N. 9. San Jose lost to Cal State Northridge on Sunday. I would guess that San Jose has 11 guys in box against Stanford
  10. http://www.phillysoccerpage.net/2018/08/26/match-report-nashville-sc-1-2-bethlehem-steel/ 2) Adam Najem Najem logged a terrific 90 minute performance after making his international debut for Afghanistan in Kabul against Palestine last week. Oh, he got tonight’s winner, too. Not a bad week.

  16. some great matchups friday night Indiana vs. Wake Forest Clemson vs. Creighton Maryland vs. Washington none better than the matchup at Cub Cadet Field https://www.topdrawersoccer.com/college-soccer-articles/mens-weekend-preview:-feast-on-friday_aid44574 Below are five matches to track on Friday (all times listed EST). No. 10 Butler at No. 2 Akron, 7 p.m. (Watch ESPN) One of the last fall’s College Cup sides welcomes Butler to town in just one of several compelling matchups of note. The Zips brought back a handful of pieces – goalkeeper Ben Lundt, center back Daniel Strachan, forward David Egbo – but lost so much that even a loss or draw here is no reason for concern. Butler, which has sights set on another Big East crown. Brandon Guhl is going to be a handful up front, while Jared Timmer and Joe Moulden bring back stability and experience. Prediction: Akron 1-1 Butler
