  1. Link Ianello has a point regarding the position switch to protect his shoulder. He was an offensive threat at Hoban for sure and he'll have three years to focus on playing TE. It still seems like we have too many of them though. Maybe stick Hall back on defense? I doubt it.
  2. Reno is back in coaching! He's now coaching RB's at Towson, reunited with AD Mike Waddell. Nice to hear!
  3. Looks like his knees might be bothering him. Hopefully he's better by the start of the season
  4. That wasn't even fair
  5. Charlie Camp discusses the linebackers. I'm definitely expecting this group to be the strength of the defense, and perhaps the entire team this year
  6. The Spring Roster has ShelDon listed as a LB. Hopefully he's actually bigger than the 185 LB listed.
  7. Miceli discusses the 3 RBs in camp(#28 Marvin Staten, #2 Broderick Alexander, #44 Jawon Chisolm), and a little on FB Austin Bailey (#40).
  8. I thought that counter trap play that Owens used to run (very effectively) pulled the center? I believe when Brock Knisely played guard in that era, he would often pull towards the OPPOSITE side of the ball. And as that ancient Chinese proverb says, "Brock Knisely.......he brock very nicely"
  9. This guy puts the Zips in the 2011 GoDaddy.com Bowl against FIU (not FAU as the headline states).
  10. Here are Rasor's comments from Practice #7. There are some nice details in here finally. Nice job, Mike!!
  11. Based on what I've seen in the tournament, I actually think Butler should be favored in the final. Much has been made of Kemba Walker's post-season, but Sheldon (sp?) Mack has been right there too. Matt Howard just looks like a guy who won't allow the Bulldogs to lose at this point. Butler 69 UConn 64
  12. Link for Miller hire by UD.
  13. Some additional information from Gaffney. Lemming's comments are predictable, given his ND ties. Flemming playing exclusively at TE could prove to be a nice development.
  14. Bedford Safety Tyvis Powell Scout Profile
  15. Thanks for stopping by again, as most of us really appreciate your insight. Of course we can't be blamed for rooting for VCU through green colored (with envy) glasses. Heck I even have Kentucky winning it all in my bracket, but I'l sacrifice a few bucks if it means the Zips get to host the defending champs next year Here's hoping the Rams have two more outstanding games left in them and Shaka decides to stick around for a while!
  16. Sure wish I could believe GP1 that KD wouldn't be seriously considered by a successful program like Dayton's. But since I disagree with GP1's opinion of KD, the Dayton possibility does concern me. I'm surprised Jeff Boals name isn't on Dayton's list. Perhaps his name will come up in the MAC. Andy Katz agrees with you (on both statements, see last paragraph).
  17. No doubt! My wife and I saw it the 1st weekend it was showing. Very cool.
  18. I didn't mean to imply that having the tourney in Cleveland is the ENTIRE reason for the MAC West's troubles. I'm merely questioning whether it's been A factor at all. Don't get me wrong. I LOVE having the tourney at the Q. But I can certainly understand why fans of West Division teams might not feel the same way.
  19. I've been thinking about the decline of the West over the last few weeks, inspired by the predictable failure of the #2 and #4 seeds in the MAC tourney. In his post-game comments after losing to the Zips, Steve Hawkins bemoaned (not for the 1st time) the difficulty of having to face either Akron or K.E.N.T. at the Q given the proximity of both schools. This got me thinking. How much has the move of the tourney to Cleveland been instrumental in the demise of the West? Since the tourney moved to Cleveland in 2000, only two MAC West teams (Ball St in 2000 and WMU in 2004) have won titles. I didn't have time to crunch the numbers, but the overall tournament W-L percentages for games played there are ridiculously slanted in favor of the East. I don't doubt that SOME of this is simply due to the East putting out some pretty good teams (Heath's Elite 8 team, for instance) over this period. But have the recent dismal showings by the West served to compound the problem? Do the Broncos, Cardinals, Chipps, etc get that old sinking feeling heading east in March on I-80? Have some of the West programs unconsciously "de-emphasized" hoops, figuring the odds are stacked against them anyway? I'm not sure I'd answer "yes" to this last one, but I do wonder how much the move from Seagate in Toledo (or Kobo Hall in Detroit) has contributed to the lack of balance we have witnessed in recent years.
  20. +1 As DiG alluded, there's not much to add. Well stated
  21. If I can "wake up" in time, I plan to watch both QB's very closely at the spring game (like a lot of us). That makes this year's spring game one of the more intriguing in recent years. ZipZipHooray! from your knowledge of Clayton and Mississippi/SEC football, I assume you have a close connection to him. One thing I've wondered about Clayton is whether the colder weather might have an effect on his play. Some QB's, particularly those with smaller hands (not saying this is the case with Clayton), can have issues throwing in poor weather. Do you have any insight on this?
  22. ....and Antoine Russell, who was suspended (as was Hall) for the last 2 games of 2010.
