Awesome! I'm pleasantly surprised. I thought Darlington's "moderate" numbers would work against him in this. His importance to what has likely been the most talented team in NCAA history must have been the greater consideration by the voters. Congrats, Darlington!!

I certainly have no problems with the MAC bowl performance this season. If Toledo doesn't blow a big lead, the combined record would have been 3-1. Perhaps this season was merely an apparition, but it's a welcome change from recent bowl history.

According to this mock draft, 7 Akron Zips are to be taken in the first 25 picks. Wow! Caleb Porter has managed to do more than win Akron’s first national (team) championship. He has revived the significance of collegiate soccer as a whole. The pros are watching Akron closely and the National Team will soon follow suit. The center of amateur soccer in America is currently Akron, Ohio. If this draft play out like most think, it's really an amazing stamp on this national championship season. While their OOC schedule hasn't been great, they seem to have young players emerging at the right time. They've been shooting it really well of late and Witherspoon always has them ready to play.
