  1. Wagner made a great stop for a 2 yard loss on a 4th and one. But the Zips couldn't move it much. Patrick is starting to remind us that he's only a true FR. Hopefully they'll settle him a little at halftime.
  2. Wagner!!!
  3. Play calling is still way too conservative. Let's not even talk about punting.
  4. I don't want Nicely running anymore than necessary! Having said that.....TD Zips!!!!
  5. How about Andre Jones playing some WR again? Maybe it was only because Bowser was out briefly.
  6. I have Massillon cable and after a few minute delay it's been on for me on FSN.
  7. I picked the Zips, but the weather really concerns me. Even without Starks, U@B looks to have a better running game.If it rains/snows/sleets during the game: Bulls 27 Zips 19If it is cool but relatively dry, I think the Zips pull off the upset: Zips 31, Bulls 27
  8. Sewell suffered a stinger and left to get some other guys some PT. He was a monster prior though. I would imagine he'd be good to go saturday. That would be great! Thanks!
  9. Getting back to the Sewell injury, it seemed as though he was taking himself out on a couple of occasions that night. I saw his legs being "stretched" several times by trainors. I'm hoping that he just came out late in the game after the injury became too much of a nuisance at that point, and that he doesn't have anything serious. Does anyone have any information on his status for Buffalo?I said it before, but he played "lights out" while he was out there on Saturday. How many times did he simply throw off his offensive linemen and make the play all by himself?
  10. While not as quick on his feet as Rodgers, Nicely perfectly looked fine when he had to scramble for yardage against OU. Did you miss his 15 yard (or so) run that put the Zips in the red zone late in the game? It's no surprise that BG went after him, because he reminds me of Tyler Sheehan in that regard. Both appear to be tall QBs who relay on their talented arms, but also have enough athletic ability to keep the defense honest.
  11. There isn't much new here (BJ story), but I continue to be impressed with how Patrick seems to be handling this situation all the way around. In fact, Zipmeister might say I'm "bewitched, bothered and bewildered". I just hope the weather allows him to show his stuff this weekend above the Arctic Circle.BJ Link
  12. Gary Pride seems like a logical option. nice
  13. Frenchy said on WNIR this morning that there were about 50 Rowdies who made the trip to Blackburg last night
  14. "I feel like he's got a little bit of it," Brookhart said. CK, there's apparently another Captain in town.......goes by the name Obvious
  15. That is the game I think we'd lose. 5 of our next 7 games are against teams that are, or should be in ESPN's Bottom 10. If JD, after 6 seasons of building his program, can't go 6-1 against that...well...you know the rest. And yes, I do know that the Zips are strong contenders for "Bottom 10" consideration. In Nicely I trust. If he gets hurt, all bets are off.My boneheaded mistake. I might have to request the moderators to ban me for a week due to stupidity I used to think the Syracuse game had turned into a very improbable W, but lately Paulus has started to turn it over so much that some Orange followers are calling for the backup (link).Link
  16. The one game that really seems like a serious stretch in this pep rally is the encounter in Dekalb. I think (and Z.I.P doesn't, but then again his favorite team, the Idaho Vandals, won another game over the weekend ) NIU is the equal of CMU. Even if the Zips go on a quick 2-game road winning streak, we'll be a good 17-20 point 'dog in this one.
  17. Didn't JD mention the possibility of Alexander getting some PT recently?
  18. I watched a portion of the Indiana-Michigan game (won by the Hoosiers 1-0) this afternoon on CBS College Sports. I was impressed with the individual skills of the Wolverines but their organization was less than stellar. Still, given the game is in Ann Arbor I could see this being a tough one.
  19. As much as I have been disappointed with the first five games of the season, I have to admit that watching Nicely in his first game action has provided a spark in my overall outlook. I realize Patrick will make some mistakes in the coming weeks, but I think he'll do far more good than bad. In fact, while I think a winning season remains highly unlikely I believe the odds of the Zips winning 6 of 7 under TODAY'S situation are better than they were for the Zips to win 6 of 8 under the conditions we had BEFORE the OU game. Dr. Z asked the question a while back if any of us thought a QB's play could make the offensive line look better. That was an astute, perhaps prophetic comment. Hey, if anything, it's much harder for Bates to snap it over Patrick's head due to his height It'll be interesting. Let's see what happens in Buffalo. Finally, best wishes to you, Matt Rodgers. I hope and pray for a full recovery. You'd have a role on this team in the future if I'd have my way. Go Zips!!
  20. I echo the absolute bewilderment of trying to figure out why it took a freaking injury for Nicely to see the field. Baller4life, we all need to give you props right away. As hard as it is to figure JD's decision on this, how do we reconcile the "famed QB guru's" assessment of the talent situation at this position for the Zips of 2009? You should return your salary for the rest of the year, Mr. Harris. One other thing that needs to be said. Mondo may have played the best game for an Akron D-linemen since JT's harassment of VT and Jim Druckenmiller in 1996. He was amazing tonight. I just hope he is recognized for his efforts.Oh and there is PLENTY of talent on defense for the next coach to work with in, hopefully, a more conventional system.
  21. In reviewing the 1st four games, I realized late last night an unusual coincidence. In the only Zip win of the year, I had in my possession a punching Zippy pen courtesy of UA EVENTS.COM and E. J. Thomas Hall. This was the ONLY time I had said pen on my person during a Zip football game this season. Since this is such a vital game, I will make sure to bring "punching Zippy" this evening to help the Zips TKO the Bobcats
  22. I see the line has been pretty active this week, starting at Akron +5 and now it's down to Akron +3 or +3.5. The MAC game where the line has really made a move is the Can't/BG game. It started at Can't +6.5 and now it's down to Can't +1.5!! I wonder if this is raising any eyebrows (Toledo cough cough). I actually think Can't has a decent chance in this game. IF (big if) they pull it off, old Dougie's "we'll play in a bowl game" tirade after Jarvis' injury might not look so crazy.
  23. This has to be one of the slowest Fridays before homecoming I've ever seen on ZN. I admit, I'm right there with most of you. Come on Zips.....wake us up tomorrow!!!
  24. And actor! Ask Billy Crystal. Now Gheorghe Muresan.......THAT guy can ACT!
  25. 15,000 with probably the highest OU contingent ever to see a game in Akron.
