  1. Mount Pleasant has been a veritable "house of horrors" for the Zips over the years. Nevertheless, I am convinced that next Saturday's game is a "must win" for JD to continue his coaching career at UA. And please do NOT give me any "take 'em one at a time" lectures. If anyone is paying attention to how our future adversaries have been fairing so far this year, and if they couple this information with the pathetic piece of garbage we all witnessed today, then I do NOT see how you can conclude anything otherwise. First, let me say that I respectfully disagree with Z.I.P. with regards to the "threshold of acceptability" that both the President and the AD will apply. I do not believe that 6-6 will cut it, based on the amount of investment the University has in the Info. 7-5 is the minimum IMHO. If you accept that, then let's look at the remaining schedule.at CMUOhio Uat Buffaloat Syracuseat NIUCan'tTempleat BGEMUIf the Zips lose to CMU, they would fall to 1-3. This would mean they would have to win at least TWO of their remaining roads games to finish at least 7-5. IMHO I don't see them winning even ONE of these road games if they lose to CMU. UB has not fallen anywhere near as far as some had thought after Starks went down. The 'Cuse is getting back on track after cracking through in the win column tonight against N'western. NIU will physically dominate us. BG should be a big favorite. Thus, I don't think it will matter what the Zips do at home. JD needs to win this coming Saturday, or his fate will be sealed. I sure hope he sees it this way. I'd hate for him to save any redshirts, only to benefit his future sucessor.
  2. That's the way to go Zips!!! It's a perfect start to the weekend
  3. Beacon LinkHere is the Beacon story. Apparently, ZIPCODE knew something! It'll be interesting to see who the backup is.
  4. I'm going with:Zips 34IU 20
  5. Feel free to elaborate!
  6. Hoban's kicker is the real deal, he could probably start for us tomorrow.Name me a good high school place kicker who WOULDN'T be able to start for us tomorrow. Uhhhhh Igor Iveljic? Hey, he was VERY good at Mentor! Sorry, skip, I couldn't resist
  7. Care to post the MAC vs. Big Ten record over the past 5 years? k thx.HOO HOO HOOSIERS!Or Indiana's record vs. the MAC last year? k thx.0-2. First time we've lost to da MAC ever.Your turn.HOO HOO HOOSIERS!You'll have to pardon my delay. MY research took a little longer than yours. OK, if my counting is correct (I used the link below) the MAC has gone a woeful 6-63 versus the Big 10 over the last five years (not including the start of this year). Of course, only 6 of those games were played at MAC fields (5 more at neutral fields). Now over this same period, IU is 9-31 against the rest of the Big 10. Of course IU's games are split 50/50 home and away. Note that FOUR of those six MAC victories occurred last year. The bottom line is I'm sure glad you can't bring your 10 "big brothers" with you tomorrow Go Zips!!!NCAA Football Records Link
  8. Sheesh, listening to Hoo Hoo, you'd think IU was coached by THIS guy
  9. I thought about that too. The fact that it's on ESPNU probably doesn't help the cause.
  10. I'm a realist. I'll admit that Penn State was better last year but they have lost several key players while IU has only gotten stronger and has closed the gap. Joe Paterno is the past and Bill Lynch is now a superior coach. He knows what he is doing. We've steadily improved from our first game to our second and I expect the current favorite to win Big Ten Coach of the Year Bill Lynch to continue to show that he's got it all figured out. Just wait. Indiana may not have the history of Penn State but the future is just as bright. We've got talent who played at Florida on the team! Florida won the national title last year! Upgrade! Yes! Hoo Hoo Hoosiers!Where are PSU_Lions_84 and psu1 when we need them??!!
  11. How dare you use my new signature against me!
  12. Was that Toledo from last year? It's definitely not from Toledo THIS year! BINGO Aaron!! It's from a movie called "Best of Times". The Robin Williams character tries to get the town of Taft all fired up to play a "grown-up" football rematch against Bakersfield to avenge a mistake made by him in the high school game between these teams in his youth. One of his methods is to don the mask and costume of the Bakerfield mascot to goad the Taft residents into playing the game. Now, speaking of Finches (Jeremy, Jennie, etc) I am really curious if Jeremy might be related to another famous Finch (see link). The Curious Case
  13. where the hell did this come from?If I'm reading Zipmeister correctly, he thinks it might be an "inside" job. You never know. Does this pic look familiar to anybody?
  14. Care to post the MAC vs. Big Ten record over the past 5 years? k thx.HOO HOO HOOSIERS!Or Indiana's record vs. the MAC last year? k thx.
  15. Ha ha at hoo hoo!! Hee haw!!!
  16. I was hoping we could battle them for no-skill supremacy
  17. Attention, Lot 4 members! I know we're a bit short on numbers, but do you think we might be able to answer the challenge from Lot 9?
  18. "The Sports Network" (whatever that is), predicts a 20-17 Zip victory.Link
  19. I hate to break up the group hug, but isn't the spread 1.67 points using his current rankings?Sagarin Rankings 09162009UA's ranking = 65.60IU's Ranking = 66.93Home Field = 3.0065.60 + 3.00 - 66.93 = 1.67I know.....I need to get a life and soon.Your link title is a bit misleading. The ratings are as of 9/13/2009 not 9/16/2009. Also I did not round the 2.91 home field advantage to 3.0 as suggested by Jeff. It actually is not critical either way as the Zips will be winning by 14 points. You caught me in the old "post date the link" trick. Kudos. And you correctly pointed out a more precise value for home field advantage. I am now better informed. Thanks! You are welcome. Now if I can just convince Jeff to stop truncating his rankings and home field advantage to two digits to the right of the decimal point we can really start to get some accurate spreads. If you read his introduction on his ranking page, you'll notice that he says that the ratings used to determine the point spread and pick winners is the PREDICTOR rating, which is one of the two ratings used to come up with his main rating. The other one is the BCS rating which doesn't account for margin of victory.Using his PREDICTOR rating, you get the following:UA's ranking: 68.15IU's ranking: 63.43HOME FIELD: 2.91(68.15 + 2.91) - 63.43 = 7.63This means that Akron should win by at least a TD.Excellent find, ZtZ. You're almost as diligent as UAkronKid.

  21. Now how often does an "inflammatory remark" actually need to be taken nearly literally!!!

  23. I'm going to hold off until I hear something about our injury situation. Does anyone know about Martin? I saw on another thread where someone (Lee Adams?) assumed he was out. I'll admit he looked pretty tentative when he came out on Saturday. But you never know. It could have just been a tweak. I sure hope to see more of him on the field. Having said that, if the O-Line doesn't improve in run blocking it might not matter much who plays RB.
  24. My favorite quote in the article. This Lynch guy is on to the MAC.I wouldn't be surprised if Lynch actually said "parity". Since he's coached in the MAC before, he's well aware of that aspect of the league. It's pretty funny, nonetheless
