Well based off the probability of winning each individual game we can figure out the probability of them winning 2 more of the remaining 10.But I'm busy so I'll say "fat chance of winning more than 2 more games this season"Sep 3 Coastal Carolina Won 18-0 Sep 12 @Boston College Lost 7-34 Sep 19 Iowa St. 7:00pm likely lossSep 26 Miami (Ohio) 7:00pm Miami is attrocious, So I will give k.e.n.t. thisOct 3 @Baylor 7:00pm likely lossOct 10 Bowling Green 3:30pm lossOct 17 @E. Michigan 4:00pm I don't see the depleted O keeping upOct 24 @Ohio 2:00pm lossOct 31 W. Michigan 2:00pm lossNov 7 @Akron 3:30pm if this isn't a loss we need to march to Can't and burn it downNov 21 @Temple 1:00pm possilbe win, likely the lowest score of the seasonNov 27 Buffalo 2:00pm lossSo it depends on Miami and Temple. This could very easily become a 1-11 season.I actually think Can't has a chance in the Iowa St. game, even w/o Jarvis and Morgan. Apparently, so does Vegas as ISU is only a 3 point favorite. The Cyclones are not very good at all. They're BARELY the 3rd best team in their state. But Baylor is going to wax them in Waco. The rest of your assessment is hard to argue against.

Dan had 10 yards rushing Saturday. He doesn't need to run, but it is appealing to have a guy that is hard to sack. Think of the last guy that won the SB. IMO Pat White is the type of QB that NEEDS to run. I watched his first NFL pass Sunday....oh boy.If he continues to do this, then perhaps there has been a "wrinkle" thrown into Dan's game. One look at his career stats shows how effective he has been at running the ball, especially in his sophomore year. Note, the Chips only TD against Arizona was.........a LeFevour run.Career Stats

I will grant you, good Doctor, that many elements of the spread have migrated to the NFL with great success. One particular aspect of the spread that I have yet to see a STARTING NFL QB run is the read-option. This is a major weapon in LeFevour's arsenal, IMO.

I think he's a good college QB who is, for the most part, a product of a system. I look at him as a "poor man's" Alex Smith, whose skills will translate even worse (than Smith's) at the next level. Both can run the collegiate spread offense quite effectively (in LeFevour's case, particularly in conference games). Even if he wins the MAC again, I highly doubt if he'll be drafted (unless the goofy "wildcat" sticks around longer than I suspect.....someone could possibly want him for that).

USA Today's read similarly, but I went a little too far down the menu (line history). You can back out of it by clicking "odds" at the far right of the College Football heading.

Perhaps it's a little early in the week, but I wanted to get the discussion kicked off ASAP. This is obviously a huge game for the program. I suspected that the Zips would be slight favorites, and I see the line is Akron -4 to start in most places (link). The Hoosiers ran the ball MUCH better last week against Western than in their opener against EKU. They've adopted the Nevada "Pistol" formation on offense. Our revitalised defense will need to keep playing well to put us in a position to win this game IMO. Obviously our offensive line will need to step it up as well. We'll also need to convert 3 points when available. What are some other keys to the game?USA Today OddsEdit: Oh.... Woods and Jake Anderson will need to control IU DE Jammie Kirlew, who is capable of a wreaking havoc behind the line of scrimmage.

It definitely appeared to me that we were in a 3-4 fairly often.I was pretty surprised that QB formerly known as CJ7 didn't hurt us with his legs at least once or twice. This is more evidence that these LBs are playing really well right now.

I don't know about the hernia, but he sure lit it up last weekend (278 yds/3 TDS) against Lexington. Apparently he was at tOSU this past weekend as well.Scout Link

Zips are up 1-0 on an "own goal". You can follow the game tracker using the link below.LinkUC is 4-0 but UA is outshooting them 10-0 already.

Bump. After 2 games, I'd say ZN nailed this poll. I know it's still early, but for some reason already I don't have that sick feeling in the pit of my stomach when the Zip defense takes the field this year. I actually feel pretty confident when they're out there. AND they've been fun to watch so far, even against PSU. Vince Okruch is THE MAN!

I've really enjoyed reading each other's accounts of the Info opener. I'll throw in my story. We arrived at Lot 4 at 11:00 am. Kudos to whomever came up with the idea of putting the parking map on the back of the parking pass. For those of us without GPS it performed a similar function for me. The atmosphere was SO different from the beginning. The Phi Tau house had a picnic going on. My wife and I strolled around Zip fest, the book store and the like. We saw the band preparing outside of Guzetta. One minor surprise was the lack of beer at Zip fest. We had plenty of time so we headed downtown, an easy and pleasant walk on a day like yesterday. As we were walking past EJ Thomas, a cheerful fellow with "Rock the Roo" promotional truck got our attention and proceeded to hand us a spendid assortment of freebies, including a "Rock the Roo" T-shirt, a boxing Zippy pen (inspired by my fellow Section 210 fan?), a "Rock the Roo" wrist band and matching sunglasses!! That was typical of a day filled with smiling faces, friendly waves and general happiness throughout the campus and downtown. We stopped in for a quick brew at OBC and saw the beginning of a few games, wetting my football appetite even further. We then walked over to Exchange to see how that side of campus was buzzing. Hitting the Zip strip with a steady stream of students and general fans, nearly ALL wearing Blue and Gold, one could easily imagine themselves at any "major" college campus on game day. I was at Syracuse last year, and the experience yesterday was at least as exciting. Being big fans of OBC brew, we stopped at their "beer garden" at the corner of Exchange and Katherine Place. I don't think many people were aware of this area, because it was one of the few beer stops I saw yesterday and yet it wasn't overly crowded by any stretch. After buying a tasty Ohio Fest, I ran into a guy with whom I used to work. From that point on we just hung out until a few minutes before 1:30, when we headed in the stadium. Entering the stadium was, as many here have said, quite surreal. It's one thing to admire this magnificent structure by itself. It's entirely something else to see it jam packed with expectant fans. It's truly a moment my wife and I will never forget. The pre-game stuff was appropriate in many respects. The game itself was a blast, regardless of the lack of competition. It was simply great to be a part of it.Two small complaints:1) Soft pretzels were gone by halftime. Hopefully the necessary order amounts will be straightened out using the data from the 1st game.2) Though it wasn't a huge surprise, I didn't like seeing the East stands nearly empty by the end of the game. Hopefully, this won't happen when Indiana is here.Is it Friday night yet? Go Zips!!!!

Thanks, psu1. Next week will tell a lot more about the 2009 Zips. I'm sure JoePa and staff will get the kinks ironed out. The Zips game with the 'Cuse later looks like it'll be pretty competitive. I know I'll be there on the dome. Good luck next week against the Owls. -
I applaud your perseverance I hope this bodes well for the team's perseverance tomorrow and throughout the season! Go Zips!! Less than 23 hours 'til kickoff!

I think it'll be the more traditional Blue (Top) and Gold (Bottom) for the 1st game. -
I'm glad that uakronkid is gone as well. That new Zach the Zip guy seems pretty good, though. I can't believe how much he has posted being on here just a short time.A little over 16 hours to go!BTW that's a very cool new avatar, MDZip! It's so ominous. It would be fun to put the alternating C D' "Jaws" music to go with it :thumb:Hmmmmm woudn't it be cool if you could get your avatar up on the big Info scoreboard and have the band play the "Jaws" thing? We could save it for times when we're in the Red Zone.Have to admit I found the basis for it on another page but I had to tear it apart and redo it in order to make it work as an avatar on this site. Don't know who gets the original credit for it but I thought it was pretty cool. Not much is truly original on the net anymore. As a side note, a woman I work with is a Morgan State alum. I better have bragging rights after I get back. 15 hours until game time, hitting the road in three! Go Zips! Are we playing at 2am? Thought it was 2pm. Dang, I'm getting so excited I'm way ahead of myself. Maybe I'll just chalk it up to an "any one, any place, any time" theme. Have a safe trip! We'll be in Section 210, Row 5. Hope to see you. Go Zips!

Mike Williams is a standout WR, who we didn't have to face last year in our 42-28 victory. I figure he and Paulus will probably connect once for a TD. I'll be very curious to see how the Orange O-Line contends with the Lion front 7. Of course, much of my curiousity in this game revolves around how the Zips will stack up against the Paulus-lead 'Cuse this year. It's tough to say for whom I'll be rooting. If the Orange make it TOO close, then that looks bad for Akron. I guess I'll stay somewhat neutral. I'll be more concerned with opening day festivities anyway. I'll disect the PSU-SU game later in the day.Penn State 45Syracuse 20 -

BUMP! (27 hours from kickoff and no more dicussion about the game?)I became a little concerned about my 56-13 score prediction after I read the article on what goes on with the UA coaching staff in preparation for a game. Maybe I'm making too much out of it, but the MSU defense sounds like it's fairly decent and very aggressive. I sure hope the O-Line creates a whole lot more room than last week. Speaking of last week, ONE thing that was kind of nice is that I don't recall any high snaps......maybe I shouldn't have said that :DI'm sticking with 56-13. Go Zips!!! -

Maybe Zeke should be allowed to wear something like that. As far as I'm concerned, having him guarding the paint is tantamount to having a "keeper" -
What they should do in the near future is do a test run on the stadium. Meaning, have enough people in the stadium to flush all the toilets and run all of the water at the same time to make certain those systems work properly at high volume. Leaking pipes or no water would spell disaster for the first game. In fact, if there is no running water, a building can not open to the public. Have a practice game during two-a-day practices where they can run the clock and make certain all of that works. A meeting the week before the first game with the ushers would be enough. One thing I really would like to see is professional vendors at the new stadium. Volunteers for local little leagues are always too slow and the crowds will be too big for that. Hire a professional company to staff the food counters.Test the lights at night to make certain they shine where they are supposed to shine. At Jacobs Field, each light is computerized and is assigned a certain spot on the field. They test this each year with sensors prior to each season as they change each bulb before the season starts so they have white light in lieu of pink light from old bulbs. And for crying out loud, can we please make certain the refs field mic works properly and has enough volume.Yes, I'm certain they haven't thought to do any of those things. Who is this "uakronkid" referenced by the original quote?
