The Walmart off of Graham Road in Stow/Cuy Falls has quite a few at a good price, BUT they're all #1 with "ZIPS" where the player's name is usually placed.

If he'd take the cut in pay, he looks like a good option with lots of MAC knowledge and experience. For those who fear he's stuck on the 3-3-5 of Rodiguez's, he has plenty of experience with other schemes (although he is in the "scheme is overrated camp"). Below is a link of an article published when he was 1st named Michigan DC.LinkBTW, speaking of Jim Fleming does anyone know how his son Will is doing from a health perpective?I believe that Shafer was not from WVU and the 3-3-5. If I remember it correctly, he came from Stanford and pretty much immediately didn't mesh with Rich Rod.Where did anyone say he was from WVU? -

I gave up a few years ago. I could care less if people call it "Akron U." Hell...Dambrot does it every so often in post game interviews. Life is too short to get all riled up over "Akron U" vs. "The University of Akron." Your precious time on this earth should be spent hating K.e.n.t. State, and occasionally, Ohio State. And the 3-3-5..................and Peter King, the NCAA, Bubba Walther........ -
I think Andre was slowed from that injury (ankle?) during the 2nd half of the season more than we (at least I) may have realized at the time. If that was indeed the case, I believe he'll come back even better next year than what he showed early in the season against 'Cuse, Army, etc. With Bowser back as well, these guys should be the dynamic duo in 2009.

Looks like we beat Chuck Long and/or Brady Hoke for his services :DThis guy look pretty good on paper. All the more reason to keep Andre Jones at WR. -

'Twas the Night Before Christmas - Zip Style

The idea popped into my goofy head about 3 days ago, and I've added a little here and there ever since. If this isn't proof of my "terminal Zip sickness", I'm not sure what is! -
I heard they were seeking farr and wide for a big receiver.

I've got bad news for everyone. Both Starks and Roosevelt are only Juniors. It just SEEMS like they've been there forever.I, for one, like it that Gill is staying at UB for a while longer (although I think it's shame and a mistake that he didn't get offers from other places this year). I hope UB continues to build. I want the MAC itself to gradually, yet continually improve. If UA can't keep up, then we should make a coaching change.

'Twas the night before Christmas, when all through ZipsnationNot a ‘puter was stirring, not e'en a Playstation; The posts were all hung on each new thread with care,In hopes that the moderators would not strip them bare; And KD was nestled all snug in his bed,While visions of tournaments danced in his head; And Zippy in sweater, and I in my cap,Were jogging around the JAR for a lap,When far beyond Carroll there arose such a clatter,We sprang from the track to see what was the matter.Away to the circle I flew like a Zip, Jumped over some hedges and banged up my hip.The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snowGave the lustre of Zip-Fest to objects below,When, what to my wondering eyes should unfold,But a beautiful field, no light poles to behold,With a lush brick facade, and no grass to mow,I knew in a moment it was the INFO.More splendid than all in this quirky conf’rence,I named them aloud as I leapt o’er a fence;"There’s, Yager! there’s, Peden! there’s, UB and Dix and!The Glass Bowl, Doyt-Perry! all suited for Blitzin’!Rynearson and Scheumann, Waldo and the Link!Huskie, Kelly Shorts and that’s it, I think!"As dry leaves that within the December breeze fly,When they waft the odor of football to the sky,So up to top of the press box I flew,With BuckZip, SeeTee and Cap’n Kangaroo. And then, in a twinkling, I saw in my headthe end of Zip losing and seasons of dread. And I drew in my hand, a most stunning portraitof MAC crowns in Akron for 7 years straight.JD dressed in fur, from his head to his foot,And his clothes were all swollen with jewelry and loot;A bundle of trophies he flung on his back,And he looked like they proclaimed him King of the MAC.His line -- how they guarded! his QB how merry! His wide-outs caught plenty, e’en more than Matt Cherry! His halfbacks were tough, his returners could go!As they sped down the sidelines, they looked like Pat Snow; His defense was mean, they could knock out your teeth,When they tackled their arms held their foes like a wreath; They had a large line and their backers were smelly,A secondary to none, not e’en Brian Kelly.JD stood tall with pride, a right jolly head coach,A confident stare, beyond all reproach.A wink of his eye and a nod of his head,Soon gave me to know I had nothing to dread; He spoke not a word, but I knew right away,That this place would be filled, on each Fall Saturday,With Zip fans aplenty, exhorting the team,Then JD glanced over to finish my dream; He sprang to his legs, to his team gave a whistle,And away the Zips ran like the down of a thistle. But I heard him exclaim, ‘fore he fizzled from sight,"Happy Christmas to all, and to all Zips good-night."

While the Aztecs have been horrid of late, that hasn't always been the case. I mean, how can you Brownie fans forget that Brian Sipe had quite a career as SDSU during their days dominating the old PCAA. After growing too big for that league, they managed a WAC title before that conference apparently took up residence too close to the power lines causing an odd mutation into a brief 16-team monstrosity. Then the MWC sprang forth from the behemoth taking the most promising schools, including SDSU, along with it. The Aztecs have struggled in this period, but many still look at it as a "sleeping giant". I "sort of" agree with this assertion, to a point. SDSU can, no question, become a bigger player in college football, due to points already cited (weather, population base, moderate tradition). BUT, it has always been a particular struggle in college football for a college that resides in an NFL city to become a BIG draw. Miami (Fla), for all of their success (which is fairly recent, in terms of college football history), has never been a huge draw. If you doubt me, take a look at all the empty Orange Bowl seats the next time ESPN classic plays either the Flutie Hail Mary game or Frank Reich's Terp Comeback. Pitt, UC, San Diego St., Houston, SMU, and Rice have all had attendance issues in their respective histories as compared to "Blank State" or "U of Blank" (where "Blank" is the name of a state). USC is a notable exception to this, although it can be argued that many of their attendance successes have come only after the NFL abandoned SoCal. Having said all of this, SDSU will still outdraw Ball St. with ease. Hoke is trying to awaken the sleeping giant. I can't blame him for that.

I guess I didn't realize how far UVa had fallen, although I see they did give Syracuse a good game at the Carrier Dome before losing by 3. -
The win at Niagara looks better and better as they won in Tampa against USF this afternoon. I realize the Bulls are the Big East doormat in hoops, but they DID only lose by two at Virginia earlier this year.
-
A change in defensive scheme is mere speculation at this point. After all the injuries/etc this year, it sure seems like we have the numbers to play a 4-3 moving forward.
-
Aggies have shot 62% for the 1st half to force a 35-35 tie at the break. Zips' shaky defense against the three is alive once again. We need to close out on their shooters and get some interior offense going to put these guys away.
-
Sewell is a 4-3 DE. He is not a tackleSewell is a BALLPLAYER. He'll play, and play well, wherever he is needed. I agree, he's a better DE. But I believe our potential DE's are better, as a group, than our DT's. Don't get me wrong, I won't be disappointed to see him play DE in a 4-3 next year. I was only proposing a potential front four in which the D-linemen that I see as having the most potential right now are all on the field at the same time.

It's nice to see Mike Thomas get a little love. Because in a season filled with plenty of disappointment on that side of the ball he really was a bit of a "find" particularly as the season progressed. He's a little on the short side for a LB (maybe he's got a little "Sam Mills" in him), but I can see him making plenty of plays next year, especially if we finally go with a 4-3. How does the propect of having Bain and Sewell at the tackles with Lemon and either Rash or Hazime at the ends sound for starters?
