  1. Now THAT made both me and my wife, who was looking over my shoulder, laugh out loud
  2. I know, we'll switch to a 4-3 and have Bain and that rather enormous male cheerleader play the tackle positions (if the latter has any more eligibility that is.......hmmm interesting thought......do cheerleaders have limited eligibility?).
  3. Watching Lousyville get ripped 49-0 in the 1st HALF at Rutgers is making me appreciate the close losses of this season just a wee bit more. I was having flushbacks to Owens 1st trip to Oxford, a game in which the Sweaters were actually taking KNEES BEFORE HALFTIME.I also can't help but think that the extreme turmoil in the college coaching profession at season's close is helping JD's case. I'm still not thrilled about having him come back, but in this particular climate it might be the prudent decision.
  4. agreed. last. STZ, are you gonna just sit there and take that?
  5. Due to personal scheduling conflicts, this will be my 1st hoops game to attend in 2008-2009. I can't wait to see some of the newcomers 1st hand, such as Humpty and Nikola. Dayton will obviously be a stiff challenge, even more so than Viagra......err I mean Niagara (some jokes never get old to permanently immature males such as myself). I can't pick a score just yet. Maybe I'll come up with a prediction at OBC just before the game. Go Zips!
  6. BCSE 1984, MSCE 1991.Couldn't have gone to a place better suited for me.
  7. Although they mispelled his name in here, this article reports that Wayne State's HC and former UA Offensive Coordinator Paul Winters is among those being considered for the EMU opening.
  8. AND the Zips won the rebounding 40-34! I'm not sure how good Niagara is on the boards, but coming less than a week from the EKU disappointment this is definitely encouraging.
  9. Is that Niagara or Viagra?
  10. SeeTee, zipseuph.....we need to PERSONALLY see that this travesty cannot occur. BTW, I hear OBC debuted a Christmas Ale last Friday.
  11. NNNOOOOOO!!!!! SAY IT AIN'T SO!!!!!I just bought my own reserved mug at OBC and was starting to think of it as my local kinda hang out. I have noticed that it seems not as popular as Barley House next door, but I really, really, really like the OBC brew. It's the only brew pub in town. Please stick around Verich's!OBC Mug #89 outSeeTeeZipAhhhhhhhh!!!!! This would just about put the capper to a horrible string of bad Zips-related luck lately. If the joint goes down, I sure hope the beer sticks around in some form.
  12. Gaffney in today's Beacon makes it sound like he'll be playing. From a far more reliable source, I hear Clubber Lang has but ONE prediction for home games at the Info next year.................BAIN!!
  13. I almost hate to even mention this, but it's nice to see that Gaffney feels confident enough to come out and say that Bain should be back next year.
  14. Interesting find, ZippyRulz. You have to wonder where this information comes from, although it looks reasonable after skimming through it. One item jumped out at me. It says Mark Snyder will keep his job at Marshall. He has gone 4-7, 5-7, 3-9, and 4-8 in four seasons there  Much of the Herd must be boiling right about now, particularly if the AD DOES keep him. Perhaps this is an indication that some mid-majors are getting concerned about a dearth of HC talent available currently due to the huge turnover that has already been reported.
  15. OK, SURELY I'm stealing this from the minds of a few great Rowdies but I can't resist. With regards to UB in the International Bowl, I agree that this is a great spot for them. After all, this game is played in Toronto. This way, the Bulls can stay in their great Canadian homeland for the Holidays Seriously, UB richly deserves this and I hope they get a boatload of fans to the game. And I'm not talking a "Maid of the Mist" boatload either!
  16. While no one can deny the strides he made in 2008 vs. 2007, he's going to be a 5th year senior next year. I don't know how much improvement he's got left in him. I wish he threw like this in his Sophomore season. Then I'd be more apt to believe. It is a big leap of faith for me to believe he can be a clutch performer in 2009. His mechanics are solid, but when the game is on the line, he turns the ball over...and over...and over.Really, the only area I see left to expect any realistic improvement out of Jacq is perhaps a few less critical turnovers. The weakness that I simply can't seem to get past is the lack of mobility. For this reason alone, I hope Rodgers and perhaps even Jordan Miller get a fair shake in the spring, regardless of who is running the show. I believe a slightly more mobile "Jacq" would have gotten us 2 more wins this year.
  17. Agreed! That seems like a huge stretch to me. I wonder what Nebraska fans would say? Can you say CALLAHAN!
  18. I'm pretty sure the old Fabulous 44 was picked by the now defunct Pittsburgh Press. The Press, an evening paper, was actually the leading Steel City daily when, during a newpaper strike in the early 90's, the Press was sold to the owners of the Post-Gazette (a morning paper at the time) who promptly ceased its existence. The Post-Gazette has been the leading PGH paper ever since, although the burb-oriented Trib-Review has also gained a following in recent years. On a positive note, I notice a few of this year's selections have interest from BG and Miami. Perhaps these guys might change their minds with the firings? This underscores the importance of Mack making a strong statement regarding next season, one way or another, ASAP!
  19. Great article, Cap'n. The more goofy stuff Plaxico does the more chances Hixon gets. The key is, he's been taking advantage of every opportunity. On a side note (and perhaps this has been discussed in the distant past on this board), I keep seeing his name spelled differently on various threads. I always thought it was Hixon (as in the article). I assume there must be a story behind the multiple spellings?
  20. Any chance of getting Baylor's QB Robert Griffin to transfer to UA?
  21. I agree that we can't lose sight of the accomplishments of this year's squad. Hat's off to all of the players and coaches for an amazing effort all year long Maybe, JUST maybe, the trials and tribulations of this year's post-season will raise even greater awareness to the gem that we have right under our nose, right here at UA.I'm not sure if many caught Dambrot's post-game discussion with Frenchy after the FDU game last night, but he gave a wonderful account of just how greatly he respects Caleb and his program. If anyone had any lingering doubt about how deeply KD cares for the University, they would have done well to listen. It's terrific to have that sort of coaching camaraderie within the athletic department.
  22. 85-41 final.
  23. 83-40 Zips and as Frenchy says it's degenerated into "garbage time". 1:35 left
  24. Ahhh, KD and the boys are putting an end to the "lost" weekend. It sure helps to be playing Fairly reDiculous University, who I greatly overestimated in previous posts. They look to be 2nd worst on the schedule behind Urbana. Still, it's nice to see the Zips doing what they need in playing good defense and laying down the hammer.
