  1. I have to say that, regardless of the score, it's amazing to see Mackey hit like this in his condition!
  2. OU is beating Temple (minus DeMichelle) 23-7 late. It's looking like a very real possibility of a 6 game losing streak to end the season
  3. On a positive note, it's nice to hear the U of A band there tonight. I just wish they had more positive plays react to.
  4. Don't they have to bring in temp lights for the TV games anyway? Or maybe Mack doesn't want good lighting to show all of the empty seats that are sure to be there against OU and CMU
  5. Larry Kehres? Lou Tepper? Paul Winters? Vic Whiting? Mike Gottfried?
  6. Finally, a defensive player showing up. Way to go, Mondo!
  7. It almost seems like the team has quit on him. This team is getting worse as the season goes on. it should be getting better.I agree Buckzip, and it started last week. The thing is, how can we expect this same team, minus the Seniors, to jump back on board next year?
  8. OK, I've been on the fence for a while, but who here thinks that JD is REALLY the guy we want to lead this team into the new stadium? I, for one, want him fired after this season. This performance is pathetic.
  9. I think most of us are still in a "lost to Temple and Buffalo" funk, but I'm still surprised that nobody has started this thread yet. The game is on ESPNU I believe. It's so hard for me to figure this game, from both team's perspective. BG is a solid touchdown (plus extra point) favorite most places. In the end, I don't see the Zips bouncing far enough back to pick up the W. Sheehan will probably have a nice game, and our only chance is for CJ11 to have a similar game as he had at Western (which could happen). All in all, I see it:Zips 27Falcons 31
  10. So far, so good (Zippy up by 360!), but Hairy Dawg is starting to scare me. W need to keep and eye on him!
  11. These are very valid points. I've been "on the fence" regarding JD, but I'm having a really hard time not slipping into the "let him go" camp. The way I see it, Proenza cannot be pleased at all with the recent results, and the prospect of heading into a brand new facility on the heals of three losing seasons (if improvement next year isn't swift and dramatic) has to put a serious crimp into the financial models that are being assumed for construction and operation of the new stadium. Here's something to consider. The U of A has never been in, what I would call a "position of strength" when looking for a new head football coach. Today is different What bright, young aspiring coach would NOT be intrigued by the possibilties that will soon be available here? If JD were to be fired, I believe the quality on the list of potential succesors would be a quantum leap ahead of anything we have ever seen here in past searches.
  12. Now I am not even in the same league as the two preceding gentlemen, but I must say I am thoroughly enjoying my first week of "creative" voting in the Mascot Challenge
  13. Yee-hah! Some of you are heeding the call. Zippy is now back up by 50 or so.
  14. Cocky is now a "head" by 59. I'm reminded of the movie "Trading Places". The Duke brothers have just been hornswaggled by Louis Winthorpe (Akroyd) and Billy Ray (Eddie Murphy) in the orange juice market, when one of them (Mortimer, I think.....Randolph has already suffered a heart attack, so it must have been Mortimer), still quivering, shouts pathetically "turn those machines back on......turn those machines back on!!!!" So I implore you, uakronkid, GoZips88 and others....."turn those (voting)machines back on......turn those machines back on!!!!"
  15. Nice find, Dr. Z! You know, all of this lamenting about how the MAC is down or at best medicore in football this year has a flip side to it. With no dominant teams, this leaves more wins to spread around the conference. Just look at that Bottom 10 list. I ask you this, when is the last time the MAC had only ONE team (Northern Illinois) in the Bottom 10, particularly at this late in the season? I know, it's pretty sad, but I look at it as a minor victory of sorts.
  16. Hopefully, some of those smarts his sister (Valedictorian) has have rubbed off on him!
  17. Huggy Bear is the only one that comes to mind. Ken Lolla possibly? But your point is well taken, Dr. Z. Other than Tom Amstutz at Toledo (FB) and our own KD in hoops, there aren't any HC's that come to mind in any MAC sport that have a particular desire for a long term ("this is my dream job") career at the school to which they are currently employed.
  18. These are decent candidates, though I think Miami is a stretch (I'm not sure Cincy would welcome that). I'd throw UCF into the mix as well, but the other ex-MAC school, Marshall, could suffer the same fate as Miami (WVU would probably try to prevent it).If the Big East eventually does go to a 12 team league all around, they'll have some big decisions to make with the likes of Georgetown, 'Nova, Marquette, etc.
  19. I agree 100%, and I would argue that these two institutions, along with Toledo, easily have the most in common with the U of A out of all of the schools in the MAC. Maybe one day in the distant future these four schools will form the basis of a new conference. How does the "Scrape-off-the-Rust Belt Conference" sound?
  20. Buffalo News Online SportsEven though they generously list him at 6'5", it looks as if Jabari could be in for another big day on Saturday.
  21. Yahoo's line is now at 1 1/2 points (UB favored) today.
  22. This is getting a little off subject (now there's a 1st at Zipsnation ), but I think that Craig Bohl, the HC at North Dakota State, has a better chance of getting the Husker job than Gill. Bohl was a linebacker coach at Nebraska in the past, and who has done a better job than he has (taking a Div 2 team to arguably the top spot in the FCS, even though they can't play for the title this year) in the last few years? Just ask Central and Minnesota how good the Bison have become under Bohl. I do believe that Gill will be given the opportunity to interview though.
