From an exposure and marketing factor that just plain sucks. We are already complaing about the lack of games the Zips play at the RB, and we have been complaining for some time about the lack of marketing. THIS IS SUPPOSE TO HELP. I don't think so.If the university was truly trying to preserve the Rubber Bowl for a couple of years, then they should be cancelling their contracts with SVSM, Hoban, Akron Public Schools and the State.We, are fans are getting screwed now, and if you think things are going to change when the new stadium is complete, then you are just a bit daffy.

What I have rad on these boards and others is that we open the season 9/1 with Army at Cleveland Stadium for Patriots Game (our home game). 9/2 @ OSU, 9/29 @ UConn. Indiana is trying to back out of coming to Akron on 9/15 (those big weenies). It's not like they are the power house of the Big 10, they are sucking the hind teat.As far ad MAC games are concerned, that portion of the schedule will not be released until the end of March or early April.If all holds true(and I hope not), we will have only 4 true home games at the RB.I would rather play Army @ the RB, drop the anally retentive a-holes from Indy and find some other team to fill their slot.Just my opinion.GO ZIPS

Unless something has changed, the plans that I have seen call for the crappy looking hs stadoum scenario. Stands on both sides and open spaces behind the end zones. if anyone has seen anything different, let us know. If the plans are as I stated, we might as well just refurbish the RB and play our games there.

Don't be surprised if a designed isn't shown to the tRustees at 1 of their next 2 meetings.I heard from a very reliable source that they are completing the design work and jsut waiting on a Construction Manager.I just hope the design is going to mesh with all of the messages on the boards. And the sooner construction gets started the better.

As far as the MAC schedule is concerned, they will not release that unitl the end of March or early April. If we get hosed, not having any nc games at home, there should be some people hung up by hteir thumbs.

I will believe it after it is official next week. I know these athletes have verbally connitted very strongly of Akron, however, until that signature is on the letter, nothing is official.

Forget about Dario. D-1 coaches are not interested in him for what ever reason.

I have heard the same thing from several high school coaches in the area. No d-1's are looking at him.

As of 2 weeks ago, he had no idea where he was headed!!

Congrats to Lee!! Nothing but a class individual. However, he didn't bring us to the PROMISED LAND, which is what every coach is hired to do. It is the natural of the beast.Things didn't work out for with Akron, but that doesn't meanhe isn't and cannot be a good coach at another school (Ashland). Again, congrats!!!!!!!

If the game with is Army true, which it seems to from the article, then would seem as if the rumors we heard about playing UConn might also be true. The Army game was originally set for 9/28 at West Point, so who knows if we might just plug UConn into that date.I know the MAC doesn't release the league schedule until March or April but the Zips would be wise to annoounce their non-league opponents now.

We will have a home game. Not sure if it will be on Friday or Saturday. The Zips would prefer a Saturday & the MAC wwants the same. Not sure yet if we will get a television slot or not. Worse casr scenario would be ESPNU.

Johnny is a Jr. I spoke with his head fb coach Buchtel (Claude Brown) last night and Akron has made an offer. I just hope he accepts now and takes the mystery away.

You mean to tell me that being the Nat'l runner-up in D-2 is and was not significant???If you had been around then, you would have thought it was the greatest thing since sliced bread.Using that argument, assuming we had won the NIT last year, which is a minor tournament in the whole scheme of things, then we should not have hung a banner?The history of the U of A bb is not hjust about the last few years since we have been D-1. It goes all the way back to days of Billy Turner, Don Williams, Bobby Smith and all the others that competed when the school was in the OAC.Let's get those banners back.

Anything as big as this project calls for a constuction mgr.With Dr. Proenza at the helm, this campus has taken temendous strides and I don't think he would let anything like a new stadium be done 1/2 A**.Let's just the project going.As a Zip for many years, this is way overdue and the sooner the better.

I'm just a bit pessimistic. I don't care if it is Akron, Can't or any other school. We are looking at paper, and the last time I checked, paper does not play the games. The players do. Until we truly discover how good (or not ) these players are, I will try to keep an open mind and settle for 6-6.
