  1. Uakronkid: I can't honestly believe that you think the defense is that good.Thru 7 games the defense has given up 201 pts. (29 ppg) and 2789 yds. (413 yds per game).the last 3 games the defense has given up 106 pts. (35 ppg) and 1324 yards (441 yds. per game) and we let Temple score 3 4th quarter TD's. WHAT DEFENSE!
  2. Unfortunately, verbal committments are just that. Nothing, and I mean nothing is set in stone until "Signing Day".
  3. Now that is funny!!!!!!I really liked the heart on the blouse with "Every Minute".Truly priceless.
  4. I have been a fan since the early 60's, so I've seen everything happen and develop with the team and the school. I will continue to cheer and support the Zips to the bitter end. However, JD is no different than any other coach in any other d1 program. The bottom line is "WHAT HAVE YOU DONE FOR US LATELY"? In JD's case, nothing. Yes, the Zips, beat NC State last year. But what has happened this year? OH, we beat Can't (not a good team) & we got LUCKY, YES LUCKY at WMU.We can use all of the excuses in the universe, but nothing is being accomplished and I cannot stand mediocrity.Look what happened to the AD @ Nebraska. Yes, Nebraska is a much higher profile program than Akron, but more was expected and it is not happening, so someone had to go. Look for their coach to be fired at the end of this season as well.
  5. Class of '82: I agree with quite a bit you comment on, however, how long are the fans, students, alumni & major contributors willing to watch nothing not but mediocrity?JD is in his 4th year. We are using most if not all of his players, and after 4 years, his offensive scheme should be well in place. Remember it was mostly players from the Owens regime that contributed to the '05 season. And b/4 anybody gets the undies all tied in knots, I said, mostly, not all. JD at that time was doing a very good job bringing talent to UA.Let's all hope the ship gets righted and we win out, win the MACC, and win the Motor City Bowl.GOOOOOOOOOOO ZIPS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  6. We ahve a long, hard road ahead of us.We play 3 of our 4 MAC East games on the road, plus we have only 5 days between BG(11/2) & OU (11/7).BAsically, I think we need to run the table in the EAst, and that is going to be very tough. We are going to need help from other teams as well.
  7. We will be fine from an attendance stand point, however, what make's you think all will be right with the fb program?
  8. I agree. We are living with nothing but mediocrity. Let's ask ourselves a few questions;1. Why can't we draw good crowd consistently2. Why are we not always feature on the front page of the BJ, even though it is our home paper3. Why are so many people on these boards hoping for us to move to the Big EastLet me start my rambling by saying that I have been a Zip fan for longer than most of you have been alive x 2. So there is probably nothing I havn't seen or heard.I hear the same excuse for attendance, is because of the RB. Sure, that plays a art of the equation, but you've got to have a good and consisent product out on the field. It was great in the pre-game to hear the call of the game winning TD against WMU, but the team (coaches & players) have to be able to follow that up with actions. We all complain about the BJ not giving us much pub on the front page of the Sports section. Why should they? Who wants to report about a mediocre team (at best) that just got beat by Temple (NO ONE)Those of you who are compaigning for a move to the Big East, not get your hopes too high. I agree that the MAC stinks, but until we start producing winning teams and good attendance, the Big East is going to look elsewhere. Please don't even give me the excuse that things will change in 2 years when InfoCision Stadium is opened. That will not cut any water we me now. Correct me if I'm wrong, but we play these games to win and not plan on waiting 2 years to win.Recruiting has s---ed. Sure, it looks good on paper, but what good does it do us if these kids only play for us one year (Harvey) or never play for us. We need to start recruiting more quality players.JD has never impressed me, but I have been supportive of him. But, other than the fact that we got lucky as well as we were good back in '05, what has he done for us. He currently has a record of 21-22. This should be a year when this team is taking off, considering this is his 4th year of recruits. AGAIN, NOTHING BUT MEDIOCRITY.Either, JD needs to change some members of his coaching staff and get better recruits or maybe we should begin the horrible process of looking for another coach. I can tell you this, Proenza and Rhoades aren't going to wait forever for things to turn around.I don;t have the ear of either of these gentlemen. However, I know some of our more prestigous alumni do, and they are not afraid to tell it like it is.For all of our sakes, I truly hope this week off will help us, and we can right the ship. We either need to run the table or drop just 1 game. Any more than that, and that victory to Can't will be meaningless. After all of this, I still am a Zips fan and GO ZIPS
  9. I read the same thing in the Reakin' Urinal. Maritn will be playing the first teamers through the 1st quarter and willl substitute very leberally thereafter. It seems as though Martin believes Can;t actually has a chance to get back into the mix for the MACC.I just spoke with the highest authority in the land and his words were GO ZIPS1
  10. It must be you. I have used my PC's at home & office & my laptop with no problems.Good LUck!
  11. Just as a point of reference, he might have committed to Cincy, but he has not signed. We are not into a signing period right now.
  12. Akron 27 Temple 10 Defense will play a stellar game.
  13. I agree with g-mann. Those were instituted several years ago to address the exact situation we have been discussing. Also, remember, there are at least 3 sets of rules we see every weekend and they are all differnet in one form or another. We have hs fb, college fb, & pro fb. What might be called or enforced one way in hs ball ball is totally different in the other 2 sets of rules.
  14. I think the media, as usual, is making a mountain out of a mole hill. There is not a football game anywhere, where the refs, do not make a mistake. The same holds true for players & coaches.I know that in the Big East, not only do they have the officiating crew, but there is also an evaluator present. They meet p the day prior to the game to view tape of both teams and they meet after the game to discuss the various game situations. The one thing i know for fact is, that they are told to limit the number of flags thrown and to make absolutely sure that there was a foul when they do throw the flag. The Big East does not want the officials to get in the way of the game. They just want them to mediate the affair.
  15. Go to the link.Very interesting, International Bowl, Rutgers/Akronhttp://msn.foxsports.com/cfb/story/7312364...3162&ATT=41
  16. I was at a party and happened to catch the last few minutes of the Bucyeyes game. The scroll across the bottom had the score WMU 38 Akron 33. I went to bed thinking we had lost. Imagine my surprise when I arose this morning and started reading the posts here on the Nation. i actually had to have my wife pinch me to make sure I wasn;t dreaming and I had to go Zips site to confirm what I was reading. Too bad we didn't get any coverage on any of the ESPN channels.
  17. Other than instilling heart into this team, last night's victory was nothing than pure luck. Don't get me wrong, I'm like any other guy. I'll take a victory any way I can, but for those of you who totally believe that JD hand much of a hand in this victory forget. What we need to do, is look into the skies. And yes, even with all of the excuses after yet another loss,
  18. Like Coach, like player. Coach complains, players complains. You lost the game! get over it and move on to the next opponent. Or better yet, keep dwelling on the fact that you thought you got "Screwed by the Roo", and you won't win on Saturday.WHAT A BUNCH OF WUSSIES.And now we really know why
  19. It is piss poor attittudes like that from 1 or 2 idiots that ruins things for everyone else. All we have to do, is each of us take care of our trash and that place will be just fine.
  20. Coach Doug MartinIt was a fumble, it wasn’t even close, one official said it was a fumble. The other guy said he was down, heasked if he was 100 percent sure and he said yes, and so that was it. But they screwed that up.
  21. I agree. The parking areas looked terrible after the game.We take own trash bags with us and make sure we put everything into those and then as we are walking to the stadium, we find a trash can and put the bag into the can.I don't think that is too difficult. Also, they should have had more trash containers available.Otherwise, it was a great day.
  22. I spoke with mom & dad at half-time and they informed me that john was done and it was the ACL. Too bad. Not only is a fantasticplayer on this team, but he truly is a fine young man.
  23. It is 6:53 am on game day and
