  1. I can't believe how long its taken for the Z logo to become part of the branding options. That was created when Waddell was here and at the same time as the 'A' Roo Head -- 2004.
  2. I also noticed the Fla.shes were hooking Big Dog's arm locking him up and keeping him from going after loose balls, rebounds, etc...
  3. This guy doesn't move like he weighs 280 #'s. I love seeing these kids get a chance to follow their dreams. It's on them to take advantage of the opportunity that has been presented. I hope he figures it out and realizes that.
  4. Very good instincts, hard hitter, seems like the type of player that Amato would recruit to UA. I'll be interested to see how this plays out.
  5. I thought it was a good read. I think it was great that he went and spoke to those kids and their parents.
  6. I would love to see the Mid-Major Top 25 incorporated into this new format. Take those teams and the others receiving votes to round it out and have fewer games with better competition. I think that would be huge and receive quite a bit of interest.
  7. Damn @SportsJunkie330, a little over the top don't you think? --- Every university, every sports team, even every company takes a chance on the people they choose to allow on campus, on a team or who they hire. Background checks are done at all levels. For universities, they look at grades, extracurriculars, etc... For sports teams, people talk to former coaches, family members, administrators, etc... and for employment, previous employers, references, etc... Sometimes it goes perfectly, sometimes there's bumps and other times it's a mistake. This is a bump, nothing more until more is realeased.
  8. I have AT&T U-Verse as my provider. I switched from TWC because I constantly lost my internet connection along with everything else and then it was days before they could make it out. U-Verse has been much bettter. The only downfall to U-Verse is this stupid contract with TWC because all ESPN3 MAC games are blacked out.
  9. Heading over to Ken+ right now. I'm in Section L. Where's everyone else sitting? Let's Go ZIPS!
  10. From my understanding this is our full class. Many of the scholarships that were relieved by the seniors graduating are now going to those grey-shirts, Prop 48's or whatever you call them that we've heard about in previous years but we have yet to see. This class is going to be small with incoming freshman.
  11. I believe this is the LBJ Family Foundation game. Last year, that game was Buffalo and had an attendance of 5,403. The game previous? Ball State had an attendance of only 3,169. I would think we are seeing a huge spike in ticket sales because of this partnership.
  12. HAHA! This is great but I must admit GP1's calculated story was fantastic as well. If my little guy wasn't such a die hard, more than me at times I think, I would porbably go without him. But he knows the entire schedule, which games are home, which games are away and which games are supposed to be on TV. He loves him some Zips. And I love the memories that the Zips have created for me with him!
  13. I may be in the same boat Captain. Waiting for my son's schedule but he will be tipping off this Saturday with his first game...I just don't know the time. Please be at 8 or 9. Please, Please, Please...
  14. The interesting part about the story is on page 2. Apparently Williams went and lived with his cousin for some time. The cousin? Se'von Pittman who is now at Akron and will be playing for the Zips. Williams and his mother, Melody Simon, agreed to send Williams to live with his cousin, Ohio State-bound defensive end Se’Von Pittman, during Williams’ junior year. That helped set up Williams to move back in with his mother this year and have a positive senior year. “Se’Von’s mom is really strict,” Williams said. “I had too much freedom my sophomore year and I was making bad choices. Aunt Velvet is strict. She has stayed on me since I was a kid. It’s been good since moving back in with my mom.” Read more: http://www.cantonrep.com/x1440921588/OUR-S...2#ixzz2pLuv3MGJ
  15. Very lazy play. 1-6 FT's and no one was driving to the rim. I didn't recognize the team that came out in the 2nd half. Piss poor effort.
  16. I see they have a couple of kids from Toledo on their roster and one from Akron. That caught me a little by suprise.
  17. Something that is not being taken into consideration is that many families/recruits in this area don't often choose Akron when they have other options because Akron is not viewed as a destination. Many students want to go away to school if given the opportunity. Bowden has done a great job of countering this by trying to instill some local pride in HS coaches and players but it is going to take time. He has to take chances on kids, build relationships with coaches and show that he can win. When all of that happens, you will start to see some more interest from the local talent. Right now he needs to get the best players he can that fit in the systems he and his staff are running and not worry about where the talent is coming from.
  18. There's a couple of things we need to remember as we discuss the point guard situation. The unexpected departure of AA accelerated the need for Melo. He wasn't ready and still isn't. This was going to be another year of him gaining confidence in his game. What happened with AA forced Melo into action early which is not good for a player like Melo. AA was very instinctive, he could handle the presuure. Melo, on the other hand, relies on his training. If it doesn't go the way it should, he struggles creating chances whereas AA always seemed to thrive in those situations. Melo has yet to show that he can make outside shots. He struggles with his decisions when he penetrates into the lane and the offense is stagnant when he is out there running the show. I have faith in Nyles, I think he is going to come around. Right now though, until Nyles further grasps the role that Keith expects the PG position to play there is going to be huge bumps in the road. So until that happens, all's we have are two solid back-ups who are doing the best they can in the situation they were put in. Also, Dambrot is seemingly looking for a PG every couple of years but for some reason always falls short in the recruiting. He recruited Stevie Taylor who is now getting big minutes at OU and also, with this recent class he was recruiting Jack Gibbs who ended up at Davidson if I remember correctly.
  19. In the Dambrot era we've beaten Creighton, Florida State, Temple and Mississippi State. Those are signature wins. I am sure there are others as well. I think what you're saying is we need one or two every year. This year it may happen and probably will toward the middle to end of the OOC part of the schedule. Too many new parts. We are replacing a starting PG & C & Wing as well as another talented wing.
  20. Same! My son and I have been waiting for this moment for way too long. We'll be there.
  21. I heard that C.J. James will be back for this one. Dadgum I just spit out my coffee!
  22. As long as it's not raining and the game doesn't get moved to the Info, we should bring home the W. Go Zips! I'm hungry for another win!!!!
  23. We controlled the flow of the game, we were patient and we outshot them by quite a bit. They were packing in the defense like I joked earlier playing 9 defenders and 1 forward it seemed hoping for a quick counter from a clear. They almost got us a couple of times which at this level should be expected. Our players seem to hold onto the ball a little more under Embick. The focus is still two touch soccer but it appears the players have more freedom to try and create on their own.
