  1. By the way, the Zips routed West Virginia 6-1 Friday night to move to 10-11 on the year. But they should improve on the record as they get more into the meat of their conference schedule. They played a brutual OOC schedule, with many against M1 (D1) ACHA teams so it's a bit misleading. In fact, they are currently ranked 15th in the region (out of 38 teams) so they are getting plenty of respect.
  2. How many people that were seniors last year are back or how many players are returning that are seniors this year? But they have two seniors this year: Ethan Jurrus and Brian Burke. Jurrus was a contributor last year and Burke was one of their top scorers.
  3. Zips hockey is home this weekend with a game tonight vs WVU at 10:05 pm and tomorrow vs IUP at 6:25pm. As always, both games will be at Center Ice Sports Complex. Students are free and GA is 5 bucks for everyone else.
  4. People are stuffing the ballots by clearing the internet history. That's the only explanation.
  5. It appears that the Missouri Athletic Club is allowing fan input in their Hermann Trophy selection process. It's not really clear what exactly the vote will count towards, but nevertheless you can vote on their site for your pick for the 2012 Hermann Trophy winner. LINK Vote Scott Caldwell (again!)
  6. If you're wondering where exactly this is from.
  7. No way man. I love Akron Soccer, but that win over Can't was HUGE. And let's be real, a MAC championship and a bowl appearance in football is equal to anything short of a College Cup appearance in soccer. And i'm sure there are several people on here that would say it's even better than WINNING a national championship in soccer.
  8. I agree. Personally, I still think NIU is a better team than the Flushes, but we will see in Detroit.
  9. Don't count on it, not anything close. But it would be nice...and deserved for this team.
  10. Well said. And it's a simple way to look at Akron's success during Porter's tenure. We get WAY more chances than other teams and we hold them to very few. We win a lot because of it. Lapses occur here and there, but a team that's under more pressure than us is going to make a lot more lapses too.
  11. I don't think anyone is arguing that the Miracle on Ice is not more important. The argument is just whether it was more impressive of an upset. And wow, did this thread get off track or what :-) Egner > Green > Chaminade > Miracle on Ice
  12. No, they have it right. They are calling off their "roles" for the trip. i.e. "pot smuggler", "weird creepy guy", "stinky dude", "drummer", "hemp provider", "tie dyer", etc.
  13. Miracle on Ice: Importance Chaminade over #1 Virginia: Biggest
  14. Word is he had a bit of a setback late last week. I don't think anyone knows anymore. Koroma on the other hand is done.
  15. So how about Michael Green's Chaminade taking down Texas tonight?! Chaminade sure knows how to upset the big boys. Unbelievable. However Green only played six min and had a stat line of 1pt/1reb.
  16. I'm debating bringing a TV to the tailgate and hooking up the PC to watch the basketball game. Ugh I hate when things conflict.
  17. Zips Hockey is at Can't State this weekend. Tonight's game starts at 8pm, while Saturday the puck drops at 2:30 pm. Both games will be played at Can't State Ice Arena.
  18. Top Drawer isn't the same kind of poll as the others. It predicts the NCAA Tourney field and the seeding. That's why it's so different.
  19. Yeah! And they make them every time and win the games, that's why they're 2-0 in MAC Tourney Finals versus Ohio! Wait...
  20. That 0.7 seconds inbound play wasn't even the issue. It was the last play of the first half and the last play of the second half (before the ball went out of bounds leaving 0.7 seconds). Every time we call a timeout when we have the ball for the last shot I cringe, because I know we'll just go out there and run some miserable play that won't give us anything close to a decent look. I was praying that he would just let the team finish out the game last night and not let OSU regroup and strategize.
  21. It's sad that you misunderstood me and resort to acting like a 12 year old. Truth is, I said "Everyone here knew better than to run out Darren Mattocks for that PK (MAC Tourney Semi last year)." and someone said "Are you saying you know more than porter?", and I responded "in that situation, yes". One thing you'll learn when you run a "little blog" or a "big news outlet" is that you can't just twist people's quotes for your own liking. Now let's act like an adult and stop being a crybaby because you see Dambrot as infallible and above all criticism.
  22. I am extremely proud of the Zips fight tonight. There was a stretch there were they looked lost, but somewhere midway through the second half they really locked down on defense and looked like they knew they should win the game. The ball didn't bounce our way, but our depleted lineup was awesome, and almost beat a decent team. That being said, the clock management and late-game play-calling is horrendous. Dambrot can't do X's and O's in crunch time...period. There's no more debate necessary on the subject as he's consistently proven that he can't draw up a play after a timeout. I think it's about time he finds somebody who can.
