  1. Blue shirt it is! and they can't have a "gold out", their colors aren't Gold and Blue. They are Blue and:
  2. ZN.o Hall of Fame worthy line right there. (but Zeke, remember, you can have both!)
  3. Please keep "Andy" on retainer. I think, personally, that Akron can use a Brek Shea look-a-like. But that's just me. haha, good call, but i think he'd have to grow the hair out a bit to perfect it.
  4. ASN's "Andy" with some thoughts on Souders and his play with the U-17 team: LINK
  5. I think we are in control of our own destiny. If we run the table, we can't do worse than.... And we could be #1 Exactly...let's not over-analyze this. We just win five straight and we go dancing. That'd mean the Zips ending the season with a 12 game winning streak...and could score the MAC a decent seed in the tournament. WIN OUT FELLAS! DO IT! Watching the team play like they did tonight again, I don't see that being out of the question either. And to think, Zeke isn't even playing well...let's see what happens when he goes off.

  7. I was under the impression that it was record against similar opponents or against the MAC-West.
  8. I have to agree the Zips will win with as well as they are playing, but I don't think this one will be a blow out. There is no way our perimeter defense is as good as it looked last game vs. Miami and Buffalo is very good in 3-point shooting (first in the MAC, high up there Nationally). It's tough to put away a team that keeps scoring three when you score two. I say Zips- 69, Bulls-65, just beating the spread.
  9. I know of three people who are bidding on that scarf now. Wonder how high it will go. But the supporters' group that we have started, the "Rubber City Renegades" as we've decided to be called, will be taking memberships in the next month in a half and the plan is to get our own scarves too. So look out for those if you're interested in a blue and gold scarf of some kind.
  10. Wish i would have. This lady is unbelievable. She keeps calling the crowd "the audience" and has called us "Ake-Ran", "Ake-Ron", and "Ack-Ran". The guy also called a flyout that advanced a runner from first to second, a sac-fly, which it is not. I mean that's a simple one too. and now she said "Good work by Pitts (TSU starter), he only had one score on his pitching tonight". Whatever that means.
  11. The Zips are down 2-0 (though they haven't given up a hit yet) to Texas State in the third inning but the game isn't the entertaining part. The Bobcats have two inexperienced announcers that are unbelievably bad. The guy doing play-by-play is alright, but he's been explaining the most simple baseball rules like he's talking to eight year old little leaguers. BUT you really have to hear the woman they have doing color, she has ZERO knowledge of baseball, and it's just hilarious listening to her say off the wall things. The free audio link is here at the top of my preview of the game in my blog. Enjoy
  12. I think that it may be a factor for a few players, but the majority of them get very little from such a meaningless game. They can all get together on their own time and play a scrimmage at the Rec if they really want. It's basically the same thing. The next season is so many months after that it's just plain irrelevant, barring some perfect matchup that ends up being a great pressure filled game of course. And we all watched that CBI game last year, so i think we know how likely such a game is. It reminds me of a quote from (the hated) Jim Thome, and his thoughts when a reporter asked him about only missing a week after an injury. I can't remember specifically what he said, but it was something to the effect of "For a hitter, missing just a few days of BP is essentially the same as missing an entire month, you lose all of your rhythm and what you've worked on." As a baseball player, i can agree entirely, and as someone who also played a bit of basketball, i think it holds true there as well. It's especially the case for shooters, who may get one more game, but in the end, the offseason will erode away the positive impact on their game from that one extra contest.
  13. Geez, don't be so nice, people are going to think all Zips fans are!
  14. In conference play, we were third in free throw % before Wednesday, we've now dropped to fifth. Overall though, we are second in the conference in free throw shooting (counting every game this season). To be honest, our free throw shooting has been pretty good this year, much better than in year's past with the likes of Joyce, Travis, and Wood who shot about the same from the field as they did from the charity stripe. I couldn't even begin to count how many games we lost because of that.
  15. You obviously don't sit by me at home games. Last Saturday vs. Creighton they were just as bad as usual and if you remember, the entire arena was buzzing with boos for the final 1/2 of that game. It was a terrible crew. Of course, Bo Boroski was the culprit as usual. I will give credit to the crew on Wednesday, they were fairly restrained in calling ticky-tack fouls, and the game was much more pleasant because of it. Still, i cringe every time i see Mike Foote or Boroski walk out before the game. EDIT: Forgot about Larry too. He's been bad a few times, and if i'm not mistaken, earlier this year he got a member of north side student section removed. But still, Foote and Boroski are the WORST.
  16. I think grouping the CBI with the NIT is unfair. The NIT has a great history and would still be a good year for the Zips if they made it. I don't see it as that bad of a consolation. The CBI is a joke and has zero atmosphere, tv coverage, or history. It really isn't even worth it for us anymore to play in such a thing, i'd almost rather turn it down as it doesnt even make us money. That being said, let's just pound out three straight wins in Cleveland and go dancing.
  17. Nate just got called for a technical foul after being stuffed near the rim. The official called a jumpball and not a foul like Nate expected. It looked like the right call, but he threw the ball in anger at the base of the basket and got the T. I guess he's still a fiery player!
  18. That one was a bit of a tossup in who was better for us as the winner. Buffalo is fighting with us for that three or four seed and overtaking Can't is a bit of a longshot for the one seed. I always root against Can't though so I was hoping the Bulls would pull it off. If anyone didn't watch, the Bulls just lost 72-69. But the Bulls' guard at the end ball-hogged his way to a bad shot at the buzzer and it was just plain stupid of him. Personally, I thought he was fouled, and the Buffalo bench probably agreed, but what an idiot move dribbling around for 8 seconds before shooting. Not to mention the fact that his defender had him on LOCK.
  19. Oh yay, turned it on. I'll have to record this, might catch another:
  20. On TV, or internet link? I'm too lazy to search lol
  21. Another heads up to ZN.o, you can watch Nate Linhart play tonight at Tulsa at 8:00 pm. Here's the link, just click "Futurecast" next to Erie@Tulsa after 8:00 pm to watch. The 66ers have OSU alum Byron Mullens and my personal fav. UAB alum Robert "Darth" Vaden. Nate has played pretty well over the last month, his averages are now up to 11ppg and 6rpg, though he has had 3+ turnovers in seven of his last 10 games. I hope he can continue to play good D and have a big game here and there offensively to warrant a call up sometime before season's end.
  22. Heck yeah, Jimmy may forever be my fav. Zip....tied with Jamie Bosley and Nate Linhart of course But i thought last night's perimeter defense was particularly impressive. Miami shot a lot of long jumpers and most of them were contested. I like the wide-spread zone defense we were using, it always shocked me that Dambrot didn't use such a scheme (especially with a back up like Zeke in the paint) against teams that exploit our somewhat weak perimeter defenders. If we play defense like we did last night, NO ONE will beat us until the Big Dance...and it might be the second week of it.
  23. Never forget? Why? Were you rooting for Miami? My gawd, one of the biggest swings of sporting emotion that left me with a punched in the gut feeling for days. Why would I not want to forget that? Thanks for reminding me. Never forget? You never forget, I want to, except you keep posting one of the horrific moments in Zips fans history. Keep it to yourself. I was having a perfectly fine day. It means: Dont forget how much we were screwed in that game and that we should hate Miami with everything we have (just like Can't) because of it. We didn't get screwed. We choked-away the game. And the Miami kid made a miracle play, and game over. +1 on Dr. Z's comment. That photo, or any related videos, will never again appear on ZipsNation. This is a stupid argument because it's pretty much established fact that the clock started WAY LATE, and that makes it about as much of a screwjob as they get. Especially because if the game would have ended correctly with that shot not counting, we would have won.... ....BUT I will remove all traces of that horrible game from ZN.o if it's bringing up torturous memories for my fellow Zips diehards. I understand completely. (Dr. Z, tear that pic down!)
  24. Well I can tell you personally that our camps are nationally known as my high school freshman cousin from Tallahassee, FL is coming up for two sessions this summer. The even crazier thing is, he committed to going before even knowing that two other teammates from his high school team were going as well. Now THAT is impressive! PORTER PORTER PORTER,
  25. LOL no way, and yeah sorry ZekeForMVP, i wouldn't give up either of mine.
