Greater Cleveland Sports Awards
RootforRoo44 replied to jem101's topic in Akron Zips NCAA Championship Soccer
watching the Cleveland Sports awards...pretty interesting stuff and some props already for UA. (someone mentioned that we were the first "NEohio championship" since 1964) Video Feed Embedded on ASN if you're interested . The college athlete award hasn't been given out yet. -
+1 he's a punk

So you're saying we will be playing our regular MAC and Big Ten schedules ? OSU, PSU, MSU at home, UM and maybe one other on the road?
-
I agree, and i couldn't believe that one three-point attempt in the corner by the WMU bench. The one where he had 12 seconds on the shot clock and he stepped back and faded away from behind the line. Ridiculous.

Confidence in Zeke is not the problem. He is 3rd in the conference in field goal percentage: 3.MARSHALL, Zeke-UA........ SO .542 (54%). He shot 5-5, 3-4, 2-4, 3-6, 4-5 in the past 7 games. I'd take those stats any day. He shot 5-13 and 2-6 in those other 2 games during that stretch. Zeke has 13 turnovers in the past 7 games; less than 2 per game. Nik has 11. The numbers speak for themselves. This issue is that he teammates look at him for 5 dribbles then decides to give him the ball. By that point the defense has made the adjustment. Better guard play on entry passes, etc. is the answer.... +1

Porter talked about playing home against Cleveland State at the American Outlaws' USA/Chile watch party a few weeks ago. Also, Maryland at home too i've heard.

Don't blame Zeke for the team never working the ball to him. Sure he could be more aggressive but tonight he played defense about 90% of perfect and was in great position to take the ball a dozen times while only getting half that. Good game by the Zips tonight! Zeke played some great D but was definitely off offensively and it had nothing to do with the rest of the team. They worked the ball to him almost exclusively the first five minutes and he kept turning it over, was unable to get off a shot or shot it off the bottom of the rim. He also had a couple of silly fouls out by the three point line. When we took him out McKnight and Nik really stepped up in terms of scoring. 2 turnovers, no more than seven or eight touches all game. I'm rewatching game right now, but the Zips were pitiful at getting him the ball. I dont know what you were watching. Don't know about McKnight either, he went 4-of-10 from the field with some TERRIBLE shots and only a few times did he play smart by backing his much smaller man down inside.

Can't go tonight due to a nasty bug. I see a great night coming for Zeke ! Well he only got maybe seven touches and six shots....Can't have a great night if they don't give him the ball more! -
UNC Head Coaching Job
RootforRoo44 replied to TheTank123's topic in Akron Zips NCAA Championship Soccer
That would be nice...though i bet him leaving after all recruits were signed was intentional. Classy move if he let the recruits know and helped ensure they still signed...unclassy if he tricked them. -
False... We only need to win enough games to get us a home game during round 1 of the tournament. The only pure must wins will come at the Q. Sure it would be nice to win but we will play again even if we don't. I agree, we are past the must win stuff. Let's just try to get a first round bye (still a chance) or hold or spot for a first round home game. the MAC tourney is where it matters.

Wow, no one really gives a crap about bball anymore, do they? Tonight should be a close one if the zips play more of their stupid "dont pass the ball to zeke" offense. But hey there are dollar dogs and a chance to heckle Juwan Howard's son. JH Sr. plays w/ LeBron so there is some ammo for heckling.

Are you asking about the All Star defensive tackle? http://www.semiprofootball.info/minor/allstars/ohiov10.htm Looks like a good league. I see Steel Valley signed Jerome Bettis? Good pick up...he has some miles left on him. I believe that's "Jerome Betts"...a wide receiver. But maybe you were joking.

I expect nothing less than the MAC championship game if this team learns how to use seven foot centers the right way. -
Recruiting Class of 2011
RootforRoo44 replied to johnnyzip84's topic in Akron Zips Football Recruiting
Good point. The star system is very flawed and there are a lot of people with their own agendas and favorites. To truly judge a player, as much as you can judge them before they get here, look at his offers. If he has offers from big time schools, he is a player. I am not talking interest from the schools, I am talking an actual offer. Yeah, you mean like Aaron Rodgers who didnt have one....NOT ONE ....D1 offer? This talk about our bad recruiting under Ianello is beyond annoying. Exactly, FAR too early to determine anything in terms of recruiting. Now his game-day coaching and preparation is garbage. Though maybe he will learn a bit as he goes. -
Creation of a Supporters' Group

Poll is done, we had no majority winner (surprise) so we are doing a runoff between the top two to decide the all-out winner. VOTE HERE -
I waited a few days to post anything but let me say i am very disappointed in how we played again. Sure we won, but that should have been a 25-30 point blowout. We look like idiots out there heaving up bad shots and our coaching staff may be the most inept group at getting their team to work the ball inside in basketball history. My God, we have a 7 footer that Toledo has NO answer for, yet he only takes FOUR shots?! This really is simple stuff. Watching the game, when Zeke had the ball, sure they double-teamed him, but he still scored when they did. Make them TRIPLE TEAM him, pound the ball inside 20 times a game. Marshall should score 20 points and grab 10 boards a game with his size, it's a joke that he isn't being developed correctly to do so. And don't even get me started on his rebounding, but i'll at least say that's more of a lack of aggressiveness on his part than anything.

It won't happen. They are more worried about same sex marriage and abortion to worry about fiscal issues important to 99% of Americans. You're right, because the mass murder of millions of PEOPLE isn't a pressing issue. Gay marriage though, you're right, who cares. They can sodomize each other all they want just do it behind closed doors.

Yep, both were open and shut cases in which radicals committed terrible acts and millions of people were hoodwinked into believing in crazy conspiracies. You must be a sheep. Baaaaaa! I bet you are way too quick to even consider such events as possible, so you immediately dismiss them without considering facts or watching the movie/documentary. 1) Because documentaries and movies always tell the truth and have no political bias. 2) And yes, I don't consider ridiculous events possible because I use logic in my decision making. Weighing the facts, the conspiracy theories are too ridiculous to be true.

yep...good win against Cincinnati. 4-2 with some great defense and a lot of rough play. And those few Rowdies that made the trip gave that #3 a hell of a time, he was really getting worked up by it. Next week at Ohio University on Sat. and Sun.
