  1. OUCH, zips lose 11-0 in second game. They only managed one hit.
  2. Who likes him? He means some people don't think he's worthless, others know more about him.
  3. Miami is in 1st place in the MAC. For the one-bid leagues, he just puts the current leader in. Since Miami has such a crappy non-conference record, they are a 16 seed. If Akron or Can't won, we would probably be 13 or 14 seeds. WMU would be a 16 through 14. Yeah, point being is he doesn't even look at anything besides records. Miami is missing their 2nd best or best player in Ballard and Mavunga is playing hurt. They have ZERO chance at winning the MAC regular season or tournament. I'm that confident.
  4. Bracketology is a joke...MIAMI?! That's laughable. Can't, Akron, WMU...in that order.
  5. Yeah and they are a bottom feeder SEC team! The south is so awesome with all of the love for baseball, i feel like i live in the wrong area of the country sometimes. 2-0 MSU over Akron in the second inning of the twicap...their guy led off with homer and they got a sac fly from another guy.
  6. and Kevin Kumazec came in and shut them down...good stuff.
  7. Drew Turocy had an RBI hit in the 3rd and Sam Trecaso added another in the fifth to put the Zips up 2-0 on Lamar. Andrew Brown threw 6 2/3 scoreless innings on the mound. gametracker With all of our returning pitchers (literally ALL OF THEM), we shouldn't be as bad as everyone's predicting. We should be over .500 at least. *EDIT* and as i post, Lamar hits back-to-back doubles to make it 2-1.
  8. ouch. That's pretty mean. but...
  9. Let's see. Downtrodden, back bencher Zips getting away with fouls even at home. The Refs must be slipping. Most coaches "work" the refs. Get over it. Kest has done a pretty decent job of lifting the lowly Lady Zips out of the stink cellar. All this while being continually poached by other conference teams ... including yours. This season Zips are young often starting three true freshmen. The Sockets start juniors and seniors. Zips got lucky with the scheduling or the might Sockets would have crushed the poor Lady Zips in TwoLeeDo. Try tossing a compliment or two rather than ranting how your over dog team sucked on the road. Geez, one of your ex- players decides to transfer to a school that wins, gets to the postseason, and ranks in top 50 of attendance in NCAA. What a piece of **** she is for having those aspirations. BTW, she is not on scholarship and probably won't be next year. Didn't realize you start three freshmen...im sure Tricia Cullop will convince them to transfer two hours west where they might have a chance to win... Yeah, she left a scholarship for a dump campus in a city that's only famous for its NeoNazi groups and the fact that it's conveniently close to Detroit without actually being in Detroit. She also left a team that was definitely on the upswing and no doubt on the way to being a contender in the conference. She's a traitor and a stupid one at that. An incredibly stupid decision to give up a scholarship for walk on status. She probably could not graduate from the University of Akron in the first place. Bad decision; a really, really, bad decision. The bitterness displayed here is incredible. We had two players transfer last summer (one was a major contributor) and I heard not one single negative comment from a Rocket fan. That's because most people would understand why someone would want to leave that dump.
  10. Even their website kind of sucks...they are really behind the times, they make us look advanced. Or more like they are in the mid 90's, we are in the late 90's haha
  11. i'm rooting for Miami...i could never root for Can't and i am 100% certain that miami will lose a few more down the stretch allowing us to take over their spot...also if Can't loses tonight and we beat them at their place we have a legit shot at one still. They just have to lose elsewhere too. Not entirely impossible, i want the 1 seed...period.
  12. I hate to say i called this...but i did. We were so due to just explode one night. Wish this would have happened against Can't tho haha
  13. Dislocation of the elbow would be quiet painful, but considering it's soccer, i think he will be fine.
  14. Yeah, back in 2007 his Nebraska team was walloped by Missouri and after the game Mizzou QB Chase Daniel said this on television: ouch, and his defense gave up an average of 38 points per game that year. Last year his Minnesota D gave up 30+ points EIGHT times. Really, he's a very hated guy too, he's even ripped on his former fans in Nebraska with idiotic comments. I'm not impressed.
  15. Inevitably...and then we will probably get a few more of those top ten guys
  16. Good call, you can even see his confidence returning in the last few games. I think Steve is on his way out of this slump. btw, isn't statsheet great? I want a tshirt of the Zippy robot on Zipsupdate.com (statsheet's zips page)
  17. He played like one too! He was like a human wrecking ball when he was on the floor. I've never seen a guy who could get into another players head the way Bosley did. Yeah, look at the end of the video when he bowls over that BG player. They give him the dirtiest looks before, during, and after he runs into him.
  18. Results of the vote: Now to decide the final variation on the name. Here is the final poll...yes finally.
  19. What that all tells me is that McNees needs to stop shooting the ball. To be fair, McNees has looked a little better the past three games. And it's not like he's shooting a lot of shots, he's only taking around 5-7 a game. Though he should be taking those 5-7 shots off of the bench, allowing Diggs and McClanahan to both start. (Nitro at the two guard)
  20. The Zips men's basketball team's '97-'98 season was fairly forgettable (due to an upset and early exit in the MAC Tournament), but Jami Bosley made at least one game memorable with a 40 point game and a ridiculous buzzer-beater Amazingly, I also found some video of the shot on youtube (at link above).
  21. I didn't take it as being cocky, but rather as a coach who is darn proud (rightfully so) of his players and their determination following the 2009 College Cup, and was ensuring that everyone present knew why the team won and deserved that award. lol i didn't mean it in any disrespect, I just think we have different definitions of cocky. I think his "confidence" in his team is well-deserved as well. I'm sure that talking like that after backing it up with wins makes recruiting fairly easy.
  22. What did Cribbs even do this past year? He was injured half the season. Joe Thomas made the pro-bowl and Choo is one of the top few Right Fielders in the MLB. Doesn't make any sense to me. Exactly...Cribbs came to camp overweight after "gettin' paid" and basically sucked the whole season. Don't get that one.
  23. Is it me or does Coach Porter get cockier every time he accepts another award? I LOVE IT. Awesome little video that accompanied the award though, and awesome that Kenny Lofton was one of the presenters of the award.
  24. Because he was the only Cleveland pro athlete worth a crap last year. Yet another example of Cleveland screwing Akron. They can't even give the ultimate respect to true champions. The first "NE Ohio" Championship since 1964, and we don't win. Figures. Other than Case, the Cleveland Clinic, NASA, and the Metroparks/Zoo, Cleveland is a hole in the ground. Oh, and the Mongolian Barbeque is pretty stellar too. The next bad bad thing to happen to Cleveland will be Continental/United removing the hub from Hopkins. It will happen. They don't even use their waterfront well. The Mongolian BBQ in Macedonia is better! lol
  25. Can't felon Josh Cribbs just got pro athlete of the year over Joe Thomas and Shin-Soo Choo (personal fav. Indian)
