Never forget? Why? Were you rooting for Miami? My gawd, one of the biggest swings of sporting emotion that left me with a punched in the gut feeling for days. Why would I not want to forget that? Thanks for reminding me. Never forget? You never forget, I want to, except you keep posting one of the horrific moments in Zips fans history. Keep it to yourself. I was having a perfectly fine day. It means: Dont forget how much we were screwed in that game and that we should hate Miami with everything we have (just like Can't) because of it.

Sounds a little like Zips GK Anthony Ponikvar. Love it.

Looks like a nicer place than "Josh's Cribbs"

Hopefully the amount of units now available will start to make the prices level off for off-campus housing. Some places have started to raise rent to levels that are a little ridiculous for how nice they are/what neighborhood's they are in.

Been thinking the same thing. Kara Murphy is no doubt a future banner but she wears the same number as one already. Are there going to be TWO 24's that are retired? That's a bit absurd.
-
I think the big question is: Why are they hanging a new banner every game the past week?

How about that interior defense against one of the best group of posts in the MAC? I was very impressed with our defense, even if our offense was a bit stagnant and the Falcons didn't help their cause by missing a lot in general.

Call the police, the Zips were ROBBED tonight. TERRIBLE TERRIBLE crew of officials. Jodi Kest followed them into the locker room following handshakes with BG. If the game wouldn't have been so close, I have no doubt in my mind that she would have been T'ed up or ejected. She was LIVID. On a side note, way to represent Wadsworth with so much class Jen Uhl. Not only did she hit two big free throws that nearly stole the game from the Zips 30 seconds before the buzzer-beater, but she also was really classy in helping up an Akron player that fell hard on a foul. Definitely what you've come to expect from Andrew Booth's Lady Grizzly alums.

Another brilliant rebuttal. Full of in-depth analysis, facts, and no generalizations whatsoever. But 100% right. Amen Buckzip.

Yeah they are playing well, though i'm surprised we have Harutyunyan still at first singles. I see her as more of a doubles player from the three matches i've seen of hers. She's struggled, losing all five singles matches since we began dual match play. At the same time, Angelina Jogasuria has won all five of hers (most in straight sets) at 2nd singles. Don't know how they challenge at the college level but i'm surprised Angelina hasn't yet for first singles.

Come to the north end, we are very welcoming....but extremely mean to our opponents. We also encourage acting like a real college bball fan and jumping up and down after big baskets/momentum swings and yelling like you're supposed to. There may be only about 8-10 of us but we wont turn you away for not chanting, just for sitting down and not being interested. Seriously, bring your friends to the north, ill personally make sure you get a pass to get down. And yes, I'm a Rowdy (since year one), but i only got the shirt so i could sit down low. This year i didn't even buy it until the Can't game because i didnt want to look out of place being the only one without it.

Compare it to their last few years and tell me the trend. Compare ours to the past few years, and tell me the trend. Yeah it's sad what UA basketball has become. It's funny because when my girlfriend transferred to Akron from Ohio U back in 2008 i told her "yeah Akron has great support for the team, the place is usually pretty packed for games". And of course 2007-2008 was the first season without Travis or Joyce and it seems since they left we've had less and less fans show up. She still gives me a hard time about that, especially when the place is empty. I have to get others to tell her that i am telling the truth and it used to be a legit atmosphere to some extent.

CSU's attendance is on the rise. They drew 8k+ for a recent home game. CSU is getting a lot of media love both nationally and locally. The 2010-11 Zips would kill to have CSU's media situation. And arena. For 2010-11 there's no doubt - CSU is the top mid-major basketball team in NE Ohio. But CSU could lose their tourney, and the Zips could dance in 2011. Very good chance it could happen. Yeah i just went and researched a little more on how they've done recently and it looks like people are starting to show up. Still, they have a similar attitude that we have, apathetic locals that would rather root for OSU still.

CSU has put effort into marketing this year. I have seen advertising in many spots without looking hard. I wonder what their numbers are compared to last season? PS What happen to that Ztv? I've been to a CSU game this year. It was a conference game but it was just like every CSU game i've ever been to before. Lousy student support and an embarrassing curtain on one side of the arena. Their overall support is worse than ours.

Yes, in a few games this year he has played well for spurts but had some lapses defensively (here and there). But last night he played like an All-MAC defender every minute he was on the floor. His tenacity on the boards was great as well, and he may have only had one defensive rebound but his positioning and tips gave at least 3 or 4 more rebounds to his teammates. Bardo really fires up his teammates too.

Better yet, when a student walks in, hand them a wristband and inform them that their section is down low. yes, students should not only all be allowed to sit down low, they should have to go there, until it is full. i get the feeling that a lot of people going to games that don't sit down low actually are rowdies, but just kind of don't like the regulars, if you will. so they sit up top. That may be somewhat the case, but also they may just be bad fans that don't want to be involved like normal college basketball student fans and dont want to be around that type of atmosphere. That kind of attitude is a big problem, so if people are going to be down low, lets at least hope they actually want to be at the game enjoying it the correct way. That being said, i'm getting a bunch of friends (who are alumni) together for saturday at least to help me make things a bit rowdier down on the north end and more like they used to be. The people not joining in will be the minority and will hopefully feel left out enough to join in.

I mostly blame the JAR. Absolutely. The facility was to blame, not the students. The JAR was only allowing older folks in for this game. The JAR stopped students at the door and wouldn't let them in. If I were a student, I'd organize a protest against the JAR for discrimination. Obviously, the JAR wasn't stopping us students from attending, but it may have been preventing an accurate reading of how many students were actually there. The floor seats were fairly empty last night, but who is to say that there weren't quite a few students in the GA seating? Until we have one large designated student section, it is going to be really difficult to tell how many students attend. From where I was sitting on the floor, I picked out several students in Rowdies shirts in GA. I know that last year as a freshmen I didn't join the Rowdies and I attended quite a few games in the GA section. I'm not on the Rowdies board, but if I were here is my suggestion for filling the floor seats: I think that the floor seats should be opened up for all students 10-15 minutes before tip off. If you're a Rowdy and want to guarantee a floor seat, then show up a little early. Otherwise, those seats should be offered to the other UA students. Last night's basketball game was great and it's a shame that more floor seats weren't filled. I agree entirely Jacob...ZachtheZip and i had this exact conversation at halftime last night. What would also be a good idea is to announce it as well over the PA that they can move down. The strictness of only allowing rowdies down low is a bit stupid.

Have you payed attention to ours during that span?
-
Wouldn't it be even more interesting if we beat Can't out for first seed by a HALF game, because they couldn't play that game and finish their full conference season?
-
And IF we get to the NCAA, and IF he plays GREAT, well people do watch that, and someone could whisper in his ear...... I agree, we go to the NCAA tournament and he plays like he's playing right now and opens some eyes, then he has a legit shot at the NBDL after this season. If he does well in the NCAA Tourney, comes back another year and helps lead us back to it again, then he has NBA Draft potential. He really is something special when it comes to his ability to get to the rim, his ballhandling, and his intensity.

Hopefully it was an .avi of his dunk attempt against BG. You mean this one Why are you dissing the best player on our team? I'm not dissing him...I've talked to him about that play, he laughed about it too. It was ridiculous, no doubt "Not Top 10" material for SportsCenter.

I got my answer today. It was great to see the Zips able to win without every other shot being a 3. Not to mention with little help from Zeke Marshall. We are a deep team, if we don't heave up bad shots and we play good defense, we are better than anybody in the MAC.
