If you aren't doing anything this Saturday afternoon at 4 p.m. you should come out to Center Ice Sports Complex to watch the Zips play their final home game of the season against Cincinnati. Akron fell to Dayton tonight in a close but exciting match 7-6 and they could definitely use some more support to put them over the top. So come on out, it's only three bucks (directions) and it's free with a student ID!

Let's see. Downtrodden, back bencher Zips getting away with fouls even at home. The Refs must be slipping. Most coaches "work" the refs. Get over it. Kest has done a pretty decent job of lifting the lowly Lady Zips out of the stink cellar. All this while being continually poached by other conference teams ... including yours. This season Zips are young often starting three true freshmen. The Sockets start juniors and seniors. Zips got lucky with the scheduling or the might Sockets would have crushed the poor Lady Zips in TwoLeeDo. Try tossing a compliment or two rather than ranting how your over dog team sucked on the road. Geez, one of your ex- players decides to transfer to a school that wins, gets to the postseason, and ranks in top 50 of attendance in NCAA. What a piece of **** she is for having those aspirations. BTW, she is not on scholarship and probably won't be next year. Didn't realize you start three freshmen...im sure Tricia Cullop will convince them to transfer two hours west where they might have a chance to win... Yeah, she left a scholarship for a dump campus in a city that's only famous for its NeoNazi groups and the fact that it's conveniently close to Detroit without actually being in Detroit. She also left a team that was definitely on the upswing and no doubt on the way to being a contender in the conference. She's a traitor and a stupid one at that.

When you play a team as God-awful as EMU, it shouldn't be a matter of a few baskets. That game should be a 20-point blowout win 9 out of 10 times.

As determined by who? What would JD have done with one more year? Won more than one game...i guarantee it. He also actually understands how the coin toss works.

Price, Schrock, Suelo, ...that's one position we should be decent at now, especially with our size. A QB who hasn't played before throwing to three receivers who haven't played before. It's football not theoretical physics. This is easy stuff, they have months to practice their routes, so i'm not too worried about that. Plus neither of them are freshman.

I'm one of the biggest anti-Ianello guys out there but I don't see this class as being that bad. A few guys stand out big time because they can make an immediate impact: - Clayton Moore: Originally this kid was a big time recruit. From what i've seen of him in videos and from who recruited him originally, you know he's the real deal. If he can buy our receivers time, he could be exactly what our offense needs to go from incompetent to effective in just one off-season. - Nick Rossi: This is a HUGE pickup. Though a lot of his ratings on recruiting sites went down because he chose us, if he would have picked a bigger school, he would have been one of those guys you saw on ESPN all-day yesterday. He could legitimately play both ways, as a third down back and a starting linebacker. Wagner and Rossi? WOW. -AJ Price: I think this is the guy everyone is forgetting about. He was recruited heavily by some BIG TIME schools (Oregon, Penn State, etc.). He signed with PSU, didn't get his chance, then spent a year at Dean college. Now he's bulked up to around 200 pounds, he's got fantastic height at 6'4" and i've seen his forty clocked as fast at 4.4 on some sites. I'm pretty damn excited just thinking about the potential with this kid. Though he's more like a Deryn Bowser in terms of only having a few years of eligibility, he could be huge for us in that short time. There are a few more but you can read that on ASN . Point being: GET EXCITED.

Didn't catch any of the game but losing to EMU is like losing to a D2 team. They straight up suck. Only six wins now, three of them against D2 teams. Tonight was the first time they had even beat anyone without scoring 70 points...it figures it was us. Embarrassing

Any info on her, anyone? Andy Chiu has played all over the world, and was a member of Club America's academy team in Mexico City, according to info I've seen on the web. Come home Andy Chiu, Andy Chiu. Welcome to the Home of NCAA National Champions. Hope Jen is watching and interested. Bet coach Pfau is Brianna Kanz? UA already has some stuff up on her.

Any time a player leaves for another conference team they should be heckled. That's heckling 101. Thankfully, the winter storm will make the JAR even more empty than usual for this game (if it's played) and she should be able to hear our jeers form all corners of the arena while she sits on the bench.

Jimmal Ball sighting on ESPN! His former team (Jeanne d'Arc Vichy) beat his current team (Paris-Levallois) and the ending made top plays on Sportscenter. I didnt catch the name of the Vichy player but they said he was a former VCU Ram and he hit a ridiculous half courter to win it at the buzzer. But in the highlight I believe it's Jimmal at the bottom.

Too bad you can't use it if you only have time warner internet and not the tv as well. Same with the Xbox360 ESPN application...which is fantastic as well if you have the tv service.

haha They really are interested in the Zips though. For ASN, 5% of my hits last month came from that area of the country (Virginia, DC, Maryland). At first I didn't realize why. Probably most of that was me. Lol, maybe! If so, you are quite the Zips fan visiting my blog two dozen times a day haha.

+1000 I keep searching all over the internet to actually find a schedule that reads "Real Madrid (reserves) vs Akron Zips" March xx, 2011. OK, so you people aren't more excited about this? This should be the #1 thread on this board. Imagine if the baseball team was playing the Yankees, Red Sox, and Orioles this spring break. That's what this is like. Or the basketball team had an exhibition schedule of the Lakers, Clippers, and Bulls. This is CRAZY news.

There are few things i get more excited for than punting/kicking with the Zips. As bad as our kicking was, our punting was that good last year. It would be nice to have both be good for once, it's so important for a team to do both well (ask Buchtel High School's football team about that).
